The 'coroner's jury to determine the

--

blame for the accident which caused Ler's death will be called Monday or Tuesday of next week, or when further developments are reached in the case. Coroner Jewell Windie an- I nounced this morning.

."|Motorcycle officers are scouring the city and surrounding country today in an effort to locate the red Bulok road- uter that hit the car in which Ise was riding at the time of the accident and the sheriff's forces also are ou the lookout for a car answering that , description.

"There Is no assurance that the roadster belonged to anyone In Springfield. as all the automobilee answering to that description are be- ling Investigated and the owners ques- | tioned, but so far nothing has been ! found that would Incriminate - PRY person in the city.

It was learned this morning that the car which struck Lee had bumped Into another car at the Half-n-Hill . T-house just before Lee and his two : frienda started towards Springfield. The roadster had smashed one of its own light. The light had not been repaired when it had the second ac- cident a half mlle east of the National cemetery a few minutes later. so there Is little doubt that the description of the car la correct in every detall. The ! only assurance that the car might be from or near Springfield is that it had a Missouri license plate.

IT'S funny how some towns werc named. Hilliard, & southern Missouri town on the Missouri Pacific line, was established many years ago. About the year 1872 or shortly afterward, the railroad put in a switch to accommodate the umber men. George W. Hill, an old pioneer and uncle of David W. Hill, being the owner of the land where the switch was installed, named It Hill's yard. Later stores were put up and a village was established. The name then was changed to Hil- Mard. It is a community center lo- cated on the state highway and the rich river bottoms of Black river.
