ALGOMA.


Population, 1,800. Formerly known as Ahnapee, is an incorporated city located on the A. & W. Ry., and on the shore of Lake Michigan, in Ahnapee township, Kewaunee county, 12 miles north of Ke- waunee, the county seat, 35 from Two Rivers and 150 from Milwaukee. The city is steadily growing in favor as a summer resort owing to the coolness of tempera- ture and its acknowledged healthfulness. It has a fin harbor, the Goodrich line of steamers making regular calls on their trips up and down the shore. The city is lighted by electricity. Prominent among its several substantial manufacturing en- terprises is the Ahnapee Veneer and Seat- ing Co. It also has grain warehouses, foundries, flour mill, planing mill, furni- ture factory, canning factory, a bank, an opera house and a weekly newspaper, the Record.
