div. Wisconsin Central Ry. (depots 1 mile apart), in Racine county, at the confluence of the Fox and White rivers (which af- ford splendid water power), 27 miles west of Racine, 42 southwest of Milwaukee, and 72 northwest of Chicago. Its religious and educational facilities comprise Baptist, Catholic, Congregational, Episcopal, Meth- odist Episcopal, and 2 Lutheran churches, Lutheran and German Catholic schools, and a graded public school. Two weekly newspapers, the Free Press and the Stand- ard Democrat, are published. Two banks are located here, and excellent hotels cater to the wants of the traveling public. The city is lighted by electricity. There is a bonded debt of $15,000, which was voted in order to put in a water plant, and water is now secured from an artesian well,
