Some four or five hundred railroad men and divi- sion officers are residents and the amount paid them averages $35,000 monthly. The Baraboo river runs through the city and furnishes abundant power for driving nu- merous manufacturing establishments. Baraboo is built on a series of hills, 1,050 feet above sea level. The scenery in the Cliff House, 4 miles s. vicinity is very beautiful. The famous Devil's Lake is 3 miles south and the weird and delightful dells of the Wisconsin are within a short drive. During the sum-
