Bay, 25 from Kewaunee, and 85 from Mil- waukee, beautifully situated on the shore of Lake Michigan, and between two small rivers, making a fine harbor, an electric street railway connecting Manitowoc is also in operation. It contains 2 banks, a weekly newspaper, The Chronicle, excellent educa- tional advantages, a public library, good hotels, electric light and water works, owned and operated by the city, has knit- ting works, canning factory, woodenware and wood type factories, aluminum sign factory, dentists' cabinet factory, veneer seating factory, brewery, manufactories of cement block, hosiery, steel gates and cur- tain stretchers, machine shop and grist mill. The city is just now on a progres- sive move, and expects to rank with the manufacturing cities of Wisconsin in the near future.
