(depots 1/4 mile apart), at the junction of the Wisconsin, Tomahawk and Somo rivers, in Lincoln county, 23 miles north of Merrill, the judicial seat, 512 south of Tomahawk Junction, on the M., St. P. & S. Ste. M. Ry., and 1 mile above the great Tomahawk dam, costing $350,000, the largest but one in the United States. It was platted in 1887 and incorporated as a city in 1891. It is well built up, is lighted by electricity, has fine, wide streets, di- rect pressure water works system, owned by the city, a paid fire department. churches of the Catholic, Congregational, Episcopal, German Lutheran and Metho- dist denominations, good schools. 2 banks and 2 live weekly newspapers, The Toma-
chell Hotel, erected by the Tomahawk Ho- tel Co., is one of the finest hotels in north- ern Wisconsin.
