Population, 2,100. Dating its settlement from 1848, is an incorporated city, located on the Kinnikinnic river and on the C. St. P., M. & O. Ry., in township of same name, Pierce county, 14 miles northwest of Ellsworth, the judicial seat, 31 southwest of St. Paul, Minn., and 254 northwest of Milwaukee. It is the trade center of a rich agricultural district, and has good schools, churches of the Baptist, Catholic, Congre- gational, Episcopal, Lutheran and Metho- dist denominations; an opera house with seating capacity of 700, 2 banks and 2 week- ly newspapers-the River Falls Journal (Rep.) and River Falls Times (Ind.).
