the Inhabitants of Braintree being Lawfully, Assembled yn chose John Quincey Esqr. moderator for that day -
The Moderator then put the Question whether the Town would vote for a Town Clerk by written votes. It passed on the nega- tive.
They then chose Joseph Parmenter clerk for ye year ensuing by lifting up their hands
Then voted that both then & for the future there should be Two Selectmen chose at each end of ye Town and the fifth selectman to be at either Part as he should be chose.

The Town then chose a committee to Runn the Line between the Towns common Lands and ye Land of ye Purchasers

Voted, that Deacon Moses Payne and Deacon Peter Hobart, should have for their serving ye Town as Town Treasurers for the year past forty shillings.

ent month march & May next, the said Bull to be kept in a pasture for the Towns use only, the whole year shall receive Twenty shil- lings out of ye Town Treasury, Provided they shall not exceed the number of seven, one of said seven to Run at large.
Then voted that whoever shall enter a good sufficient Boar, with ye Town Clerk between this present month march & next May of six months old at least, for ye use of the Town, this present year and to run at large shall Receive Ten shillings out of ye Town Treasury, Provided they shall not exceed ye Number of four.
The Request of Mr Samuel White (who was a Surveyor of high- ways the year past) for Two Pounds & Three shillings for mend- ing a Bridge over menattiquod River near John Webbs mill, being read to the Town - It was then voted what should be allowed him in that matter, be left with the present Select men.
The Report of ye Committee chosen by the Town December y' 6th. 1722 to treat and agree with the Proprietors of the Dam at menatiquod River, being read to the Town ye consideration of that matter was deferred till next town meeting.

The Inhabitants of Braintree Lawfully Assembled then chose John Quincey Esqr. moderator for that day.
Then voted, that swine shall go at large during ye continuance of ye last Act Relating to Swine.
The Constables then chosen (by written votes) was Ebenezer White but he agreeing with Ephraim Jones, and presenting him to the town, the Town then accepted of said Jones in said White's roome & stead.
The Moderator then moved the Question to the Town whether they would chuse a Committee to treat with Nathaniel Hubbard Esqr. and lay before him ye charges that have been laid out about the Bridge at menatiquod River and all the Areers that his Father & he should have paid until the time that he sold, and to demand and receive it of him, it passed in the affirmative
Then voted that Mr. Samuel Payne, Mr. Samuel White and Lt. Samuel Allen be a Committee for that affair.
May the 13th. 1723.

Then Voted that the Town forbids the Re-building of the Dam (now broken) at the Iron works that so the fish may not be stopped.
Voted, That the Town would choose a Committee to Treat with Nathaniel Hubart Esqr. or any other person concerned about the premises, who shall make Returne of their doings therein to the Town at the next Town meeting.
Then voted That Mr. Samuel Payne senior Mr. Gregory Bel- cher senior and Mr. Ephraim Thayer senior should be a Commit- tee for yt affair.
Voted, That Mr. Benjamin Webb, Lt. Samuel Allen and Mr. Joseph Crosby be a Committee to adjust accounts with Mr. Peter Hobart Town Treasurer, and make report thereof to the Town the next Town meeting.

Then voted, that sixty Five Pounds money be forthwith Raised for the Defreying of ye Town charges for this present year.
Whereas Mr. John Cleverly Junior, Presenting a Petition To the Town about a Dam being erected across, a certain Bay or creek lying between sheds neck and the Towns lands, on the one side & the great Field on the other, The Town then voted that a Committee be chosen to view the Place mentioned in the said Petition and make Report to the town ye next Town meeting.
The Committee then chosen was Mr. Joseph Crosby, Mr. Jona- than Hayden, Captain Peter Adams, Deacon Samuel White, Mr John Baxter.
Suffolk ss. To Mr. David Bass Constable of Braintree, Greet- ing. In his majesties Name you are required forthwith to warn all the Freeholders & other Inhabitants of the North Precinct Quali- fied to vote in Town Affairs as the Law directs, that they meet at the old meeting house in said Town on Monday the first Day of March next ensuing by nine of the clock in ye forenoon Then & there, 1st. to choose a moderator, 2ª.ly to choose all Town officers as the Law directs 3ª.ly to choose a Committee if it be. thought needful to adjust, accompts with the Treasurer, 4th. to consider whether it be needful or expedient to do anything further about the Iron works Dam, which is repaired contrary to ye vote of ye town, 5th. To consider of some method whereby the Towns Commons may be of more universal benefit to the Town, 6th. What encouragement may be given for keeping Bulls & Boars and destroying the Black Birds & farther to hear a' petition of Samuel Vesey, hereof fail not, making returne of your doings herein to one or more of the Selectmen, upon or before the time prefixed. the Petition of Samuel Vesey to the town being this day Read (to wit) That the way from the country Road to the Towns Com- mon Land, through his Land might not ly open for half a year, as was ordered and Appears on Record in the Town's Book of Rec- ords, bearing Date the 23ª. of the Twelfth month 1651. Voted, that the consideration about the Iron works Dam that was repaired contrary to the vote of the Town, and the matter relating to the Towns common Lands, be referred to next May meeting.
Then voted, that Joseph Parmenter should have Thirty shil- lings allowed him for his service as Town Clerk for the year past.
May the 17th. 1725.
The Inhabitants of Braintrey Lawfully assembled then chose John Quincey Esqr. their Representative for the year ensuing.
They then also chose John Quincey Esqr. Moderator for yt day.
£55- Then Voted, that Fifty five Pounds money be raised forth- with for the defreying the necessary charges of the Town for this present year.
The Moderator then put the question to the Town whether they would give their advice & instructions to the Selectmen Relating to a School, it passed on the negative
The Moderator farther moved to the Town whether a Gramer school should be kept in the south Precinct the whole year it passed on the negative
It was then also voted that their shall be a writing and Reading school annally for the whole year to be kept in the south Precinct, in such Place or places as a Committee now to be chosen, to Joyn with the major Part of the selectmen Mr. Joseph Crosbey, Lt Sam- uel Allen and Mr. Ephraim Thayer shall agree, and to agree with the School Master.
[161] The committee then chosen were Deacon Samuel Bass, Mr. Thomas White Mr. Nehemiah Hayden, Lt. John Hunt, Mr. John Holbrook, Mr. Samuel Payne Junior.
Then voted that a Committee be chosen to Preferr A. Petition to the Governor and council and to use any other proper means to obtain the Demolishment of the Iron works Dam in Braintrey.

Voted, that a Committee be chosen to consider of some method for the better Regulating of the Towns Common Lands, and to make Report thereof to ye Town ye next Town meeting.
Committee then chosen were Deacon Samuel Bass, Mr. Benjamim Webb, Mr. Joseph Crosbey Mr Nehemiah Hayden, Mr. Richard Thayer.
Samuel Niles was then chosen Constable, but whereas it was then declared by several Persons that he laboured under some lameness, and other infirmaties of Body at present, therefore it was voted that he should be released this present year.
Then Samuel Payne Junior was chosen Constable but he refused to serve and Promised to Pay his Fine
And then Mr. Daniel Hunt was chosen Constable but being sought for to declare his acceptance or refusal could not be found.
Voted, That Mr. Peter Hobart should have Fifty shillings for his service as Town Treasurer the last year.
Then voted, that the Town meeting be adjourned till next Mon- day of this instant May at three of ye clock in ye afternoon.
Braintrey May the 24th. 1725.
The Inhabitants of Braintrey being by Adjournment from May the 17th. to May the 24th. 1725 Then assembled and John Quincey Esqr. the Moderator being then detained and by a writing under his own hand enformed the Assembly that he could not be then Present with Them. They then Proceeded & chose Mr. Joseph Crosbey their Moderator for that day.
They likewise then chose Lt. John Hunt Constable for the year ensuing, Daniel Hunt having refused and the meeting was ad- journed untill Wednesday the 2ª. Day of June next, at Three of ye clock in ye afternoon.
[162] March the 7th. 1725/6.
The Inhabitants of Braintree Lawfully, Assembled then chose John Quincey Esqr. Moderator for yt day. Joseph Parmenter, was then (by handy votes) Chosen clerk.
Selectmen were
Captain Peter Adams. Mr. Joseph Crosbey. Mr. Ephraim Thayer. Mr. Thomas White. Mr. Samuel White.
It was then moved by the Moderator whether or no the Town would chuse Three Constables, Two of which to be for the South end of the Town, to colect their part of the taxes only, it passed in the affirmative - the then chosen Constables were Thomas Crosbey Nathaniel Blanchard, Wm. Bowditch, but Thomas Crosbey Presenting Nathaniel Owen to ye Town he was accepted in his room.
Town Treasurer, was Deacon Moses Payne.

[163] Then voted that whosoever should kill any grown black- birds between this 7th. Day of March, and the last day of May, next ensuing should have Three pence ær head, and for all young ones in said Time half penny ør head.
Voted that from the last Day of May (aforesaid) to the last Day of November next, who ever shall kill said birds shall have penny ør head.
Voted, that whosoever should kill any ground squirrels from the first Day of April to the last Day of June should have threepence ør head.
Voted, that the heads of said Birds, and squirrels, be brought in to any of the selectmen, or constables of said Town.
Voted, That a Committee be chosen to make up accoumpts with the late Town Treasurer, Mr. Peter Hobart, for the time past.
Voted, that Mr. Benjamin Webb, Mr. Joseph Crosby, and Capt Peter Adams, be a Committee for that purpose.
Voted that said Committee should allow Mr. Peter Hobart fifty shillings of the Towns money, in case they find so much wanting on his book (that was stolen from him) when they come to make up accoumpts with him.
Voted, That Mr. Daniel Hunt his obligation to the Town of five Pounds money be remitted & his Bond Delivered him up.
30/. - Voted, that Joseph Parmenter should have Thirty shil- lings for his service as Town clerk for the year past.
Braintrey May 16th. 1726

They then chose Mr. Benjamin Webb, Treasurer for said Town.
Voted that Eighty five Pounds money, be raised forthwith for the Defreying the charges of the Town.
The Towns Trustees for the letting out of the Towns part of the Fifty thousand Pounds Loan, having lodged the Bonds taken for the same with the Town Treasurer, then, voted that [164] the said Trustees, their Executors, and Administrators be therefore Discharged from any further obligation thereabouts.
The moderator put the question to the Town whether they would lease some small part of their common Lands to Thomas French (for some time) their vote being dubious, the moderator that it might be clearly Decided) Divided the Polls by desiring those who were for it to go into the womans seats and those that were against it to go into the mens seats, and the vote passed on the negative.
It was moved by the Moderator to the Town whether they would allow Mr. Peter Hobart their late Treasurer anything for his serv- ice in said office as to the present year for the time past, it passed on the negative.
Braintrey, July 25th. 1726.
The Inhabitants of Braintry Lawfully assembled, They then chose by written votes, Captain Peter Adams Moderator.
£15-Then voted, that ffifteen Pounds money be forthwith raised (as an addition to what was before granted in May last past) for the Defreying Town Charges
The Moderator then put the Question whether the Town would appropriate a certain Parcel or parcels of the common Lands be- longing to the Town to the use of the ministry of the respective Precincts within the same as they now stand Divided, and that the improvement of the appropriated Parcels of Land to the use afore- said be from time to time under the Regulation and direction of the town, the number of acres being an hundred, said hundred acres to be laid out equal in quality to each precinct, it passed on the affirmative
Then voted that a Committee be chosen to lay out said land. Voted that Mr Joseph Crosbey Mr. Samuel White, Mr. Benjamin Webb, Mr. Nehemiah Hayden Lt. Joseph Neall, & Deacon Samuel Bass : be a Committee for that affair, and that five of them be a Quorum, to act in that matter, and that report thereof be made unto the Town next Town meeting.
The private high way from the Gate of the honourable Edmund Quincey Esqr. laid out formerly, to the way leading from squan- tum to milton was deferred, to be debated on until the next Town meeting.
[165] Braintrey March the 6th. 1726/7.

The Moderator put the question to the Town whether They would so far accept the Report of the Committee about the com- mon Lands, as that they should go upon said Parcels of Lands, and take a Surveyor with them and lay it out, and make Report of there doings Therein To the Town, it passed on the affirmative.
