Committee for the Towns land. Voted, that Colo11 Edmund Billings Colo11 Ebenez". Thayer Jur. and Capt. John Vinton be a Committee to consider what may be best to be done with the Town Lands as the Leases upon said Land are now expiring and that this Committee settle with the former Committee that were the lesees of said Land and report to the Town.

Voted, the Several Constables, within this Town be held to Col- lect one State Tax one County Tax & one Town Tax
Constables allowance. £40 - Voted, To allow to each Con- stable for his services this Present year and Collecting the Taxes above mentioned Forty shillings, to be paid to them out of the Treasury when they shall have compleated their services.
Joshua French Constable. Voted, To excuse Capt. Joseph Tower from serving Constable this Present year. Then Voted for a Constable in the South Precenct and Joshua French was chosen.
Hard money for old paper Currency one dolar for 120 Voted That the Several Collectors within this Town who have not Fin- ished their Collection upon the Bills that ware Taxed in the old Continental Currency be allow'd to Receive for the Town Taxes, one Dollar of the New Emission in Lieu of Forty Dollars of the old Emission or one Dollar in Silver in the Lieu of one Hundred & twenty.
The Treasurer is hereby directed to Receive of and Settle with said Collectors accordingly.

Moses Brackett as he Look upon himself a Great Sufferer by the shifting with the Town his notes from the Town for the States notes

We have attended that service so far as to view the Lands and do offer it as our Oppinion that the Land, adjoingn Messrs Brack- etts and Baxters be leased for two years to be improv'd for Pastur- ing.

The Upland at Rock Island to be planted two years.

The Inhabitants of the Town of Braintree being assembled by adjournment from April 1st. 1782.
Joseph Spear was chosen Constable in the Room of Joshua French who has been Chosen Constable at the beginning of this meeting and has discharged himself by paying his fine.
Voted, that the Treasurer of this Town Issue Execution against all the Collectors of Taxes for this Town that shall be delinquent the twentyeth day of July next.
Voted, to Adjourn this meeting unto Tuesday the forth day of June next to this place at two of the Clock in the afternoon.
A.D. 1782.
Representative Richd Cranch. The Freeholders and other Inhabitants of the Town of Braintree Qualified by Law to vote in the choice of a Representative being assembled by a legal Warrant for that purpose agreeable to the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, By a large Majority of votes the Town made Choice of Richard Cranch Esqr. to Represent them in the Great General Court of this Commonwealth this Present year.
June 4th.
The Inhabitants of the Town of Braintree being assembled by adjournment from May 20th. to Act upon matters not settled at their anniversary meeting in March &c.
Constable exempted. Voted, to excuse Joseph Spear from Serving Constable this Present year
Josh White Constable. The Town then made Choice of Joseph White Junr. to serve Constable for the South Precenct this Pres- ent year.
Voted, that the Select men with the Treasurer Calall upon and settle with the Towns debttors & Creditors all those affairs that are not disputable matters so that as near as posible the State of the Treasury may be known.

Voted, that the Treasurer be directed to Give Security to thos Persons that hired money of Colo11 Josiah Quincy for the use of the Town that is to say for so much of said money as the Town has had the Real benefit of at the time when the Security may be given.
Voted, to allowe Ebenz. Newcomb for one Eight Dollar Bill, Counterfit money of the New Emission that he took for taxes.
Voted, to excuse Joseph White Jur. from Serving Constable upon his Procuring a man to serve in his Room one that may be approved of by the Selectmen, with his Giving Bonds to the Town as usual.
Voted, to adjourn this meeting to the day of the first meeting that shall be call'd in this place by a new Warrant.

The Freeholders and other Inhabitants of the Town of Braintree Qualified by law to vote in Town affairs being assembled at the Meeting House in the Middle Precenct in said Town pursuant to Legal Warrants the particulars are as followeth, viz. after a Mod- erator chosen, to see if the Town will choose one Selectman In the Room of Decon Daniel Arnold dec'd
Secondly, To see if the Town will consider of & determine what shall be done with their House Measuage or Tenement in Roxbury now Improved by Benjamin Baxter.
Thirdly, To consider of and determine what meathod may be best for the Town to persue in order to settle with those of the Towns Creditors who dispute taking their pay of the town accord- ing to the date of the Towns Obligations or Notes in their hands.
Fourthly, To Rais such sums of money as the Town may think Proper to defrey the charges of the Town this Present year and to pay such of the Towns debts as are Pressingly call'd for.
Fifthly, To act upon any other matter or thing that the Town may think proper when assembled.

The Freeholders and other Inhabitants of the Town of Brain- tree Qualified by law to vote in Town affairs being assembled at the meeting House in the Middle Precenct in said Town pursuant to a Legal Warrant The particulars whereof are as follows, viz, after a moderator chosen.
First, To Rais, Shuch Sumes of Money as the Town may think Proper to defrey the Charges of the Town this present year and to pay such of the Towns debts as are pressingly called for.
Secondly, To see if the Town will adopt any meathod settling with those of the Towns Creditors who refuse to take their pay according to the date of their Securities
Thirdly To hear the Report of any Committee or to Choose any Committee the Town shall think proper when assembled.
Fourthly, To act upon any other matter or thing that the Town may think Proper when together.
Assembled & Agreeable to said Warrant made Choice of Thomas Penniman Esqr. Moderator.
The Committee to settle with the Treasurer Report. the report accepted. Voted, that previous to acting upon the first artical in the warrant that the Town hear the Report of the Committee which was appointed by the Town to settle with their Treasurer and act theiron
The said Committees Report was accordingly read and accepted by the Town and Delivered to the Treasurer to be recorded in the Treasurers Book.
Then the Town Voted to Rais Seven Hundred Pounds Lawfull Money to be assessed upon the Polls & Estates of freeholders and other Inhabitants of) the said Town of Braintree agreeable to the First article in said Warrant (£700 Voted to be raised)
Voted, that those Persons who have Borrowed money for the Towns use and have Given their Securities for the same that the Town make those Persons whole by paying them as large a sum as they are obliged to pay for the same.
The Town then Voted to disolve the meetting.

Voted to Class the Inhabitants The Town then Voted to Class the Inhabitants for the purpose of Raising Eighteen men for the service above mentioned, and that the same rules and meathod in Classing be adopted that was prescribed by the General Court for Raising the Last three years men for the Continental Army.
The Town then Voted, to disolve the meeting.

First After a Moderator Chosen, To consider of and determine what meathod may be best to pursue or for the Town to come into respecting those auctions or suits that are commenced against the Town by sundry of the Towns Creditors.
Secondly, To act upon any other matter or thing that the Town shall think proper when assembled.
Assembled as aforesaid and agreeable to said Warrant made choice of Colo". Edmund Billings Moderator.
Then the Town after considering and debating upon the matter of Those suits brought against the Town by Capt John Vinton and Lieut. David Linsfield, Voted, that it was not the Opinion of the Town that they did owe the said Vinton and Linsfield in manner and form as set forth in their writs and therefore, Voted, to put themselves on trial.
Voted, to Choose a Committee of three Person to defend against said suits in behalf of the Town.
Voted, that Messrs Edmund Billings Esqr. Ebenz". Thayer, Ju" Esqr. and Capt. Thomas Newcomb be a Committee for that purpose.
Voted, the Treasurer furnish said Committee with money to defend against said suit.
[368] Decem" 19th.
Selectmen to settle with WIm. Hayden Voted, that the Select- men settle with William Hayden for his Demands upon the Town and for them to make him such allowance for his being kept out of his money as they shall think proper & for them to order the Treasurer to give security accordingly.

The Anniversary Town Meeting for the Choice of Town Officers.
The Freeholders and other Inhabitants of the Town of Braintree being assembled at the Meeting house in the Middle Precenct in said Town persuant to a Legal Warrant the particulars are as fol- loweth.
(viz) 1st. After a Moderator chosen.
2ndly. To Choose a Town Clerk and all such other Town Officers for the year Ensuing as the Law requires, also a Committee of Safty and a County Treasurer.
3rd.ly. To hear the request of a number of the Inhabitants of this Town Respecting an Act passed the Last Session of the gen- eral Court determining the time for the beginning and ending of the Lords day that the Town may advise thereon and act as they shall think most agreeable to the Sacred Law of God.
4th.ly To hear the Request of a number of a number of the In- habitants of said Town respecting the way Leading from Colo. Ebenz'. Thayers to Mr Isiah Thayers in Order to remove some difi- culties attending said way that the Town may consider of the matter and act thereon, as they shall think proper.
5thly. To Consider of and determine what sum of money may be proper for the Town to Rais for their use the ensuing year and further to determine what part of the money Raised shall be ap- propriated for the use of the School and for the Town to deter- mine in what manner the sums shall be Laid out.
6th.ly. To Consider of and determine in what manner the high- ways in this Town shall be repaired the ensuing year.
7thly. To hear the Report of any Committee or to choose any as the Town shall think Propper.
8th.ly. To Act upon any other matter or thing that the Town may think Proper when assembled.
