Settlement with the Treasurer. Voted, to accept the Report of the Committee that settled with the Treasurer Sept. 10th. 1784, which report is Recorded in the Treasurer's Book page 347.
Voted, to adjourn this Meeting to the day of our annual meeting in May next at one O'clock P.M. at this place.
Certificate money. N.B. previous to the adjournment of the Last Meeting, The Town voted that the Selectmen Should make the best market the could of the certificate money of the Towns in their hands.

Voted, that the Treasurer Issue his Executions against all those Collectors of Town Taxes who shall be deficient the first day of August next.
Allowance to Ebenez' Newcomb. Voted, to allow Ebener. New- comb to draw so much money out of the Town Treasury as may be sufficient to purchas Sixteen Dollars paper Currency New Emi- sion.
Committee for Major Niles. Voted, to choose a Committee to hear the request of Majr. Jeremiah Niles who requests that he may have a Bounty for a man hired into the Continental army that served for this Town. Messs. Jnº Vinton, Isaac Spear & Tho'. Penniman ware chosen to enquire into that affair & to Report to the Town.

The Inhabitants of the Town Assembled by a Legal Warrant agreeable to the Constitution of this commonwealth to elect one or more Sutable Person or Persons, to Represent them in the great and General Court of this Commonwealth this Present year.
Representative Colo11. Ebr. Thayer Jur. After the votes ware given in carefully sorted, and Counted it appeared that Colo11. Ebenz'. Thayer Jur. was chosen A Representative for this Town this present year.
1784 May 31.
The Inhabitants of the Town Assembled by a Legal Warrant, The particulars whereof are as followeth, viz.
First, after a Moderator chosen, To see if the Town will Choose Collectors to Collect the Taxes that are ordered to be assessed or Impower the assessors to agree with Collectors for the same.
2ndly, To see whether the Town will appoint an agent or agents to shew cause to the General Court at their next sessions why this County should not be seperated agreeable to the Prayer of the Pettion of certain Towns in this County, and in the County of Middlesex according to a notifycation Published in the Public paper by order of the General Court.
3rdly, To Consider whether the Town will Impower said agent or agents to confer with any committee or agents that are or may be appointed from the Towns in this or the neighbouring Countyes respecting any other more desirable mode of dividing this County.

4thly, To Consider of and determine in what way or meathod it will be best for the Town to repair the Ironwork Bridge (so called. ) Moderator. Assembled as aforesaid Colo1. Ebenz'. Thayer Junr. was chosen Moderator.
[22] Assessors to hire Collectors. Voted, that the assessors be impowered to hire Collectors to Collect all the Taxes that may be assessed upon the Polls and Estates within this Town this pres- ent year, and that the Person or Persons, to whome they shall commit the Taxes give to the assessors such Security for the faith- full performance of their service as they shall think sufficient to save the Town from harm.
Voted, to choose two persons as agents for this Town to ap- prove the Prayer of the Pettion mentioned in the second article in the Warrant.
Voted, to choose said agents by Ballot and in that way the Honle. Samuel Niles Esqr. and Royal Tyler was chosen agents (as afore- said)
Voted, that said Agents be impowered to confer with any Com- mittee or Agents which are or may be appointed from the Towns in this or the Neighbouring Countyes respecting any other more desirable mode of dividing this County.
Voted, To Choose a Committee to Pettition the General Ses- sions of the Peice for the County of Suffolk to mak the Iron work Bridge in this Town a County cost or otherwise afford some help in repairing the same.
The Honle Samuel Niles Esqr. & Royal Tyler ware chosen a Committee for that purpose.
Oct 11th
The Inhabitants of the Town Assembled by A Legal Warrant the perticulars whereof are as followeth (viz) first after a Modera- tor chosen.
To see if the Town will Choose one or more persons as deligate or agents for this Town to meet at the dwelling house of Maj" Eben'. Whiting inholder in Roxbury on Tusday the Twelfth day of Oct. Instant at ten O'Clock A.M. Then and there with the deligates or agents of sundry other Towns in preparing and prefer- ing a Pittion the General Court to Repeal certain acts that have been made to regulate the marketts in the Town of Boston which acts are Grevious to many of the Towns, in this Commonwealth, or to adopt such other plan as to them shall seem best to obtain a Repeal of said acts.
[23] Secondly, To hear the Report of the Committee that ware chosen by the Town to Pittion the General Sessions in order to git the Ironwork Bridge to be a County Bridge and to consider of and determine what further it may be best for the Town to do with re- spect to the repairing said Bridge.
3rdly, To hear the Report of any Committee or Choose any Committee as the Town shall think proper.

Agent. Capt. John Vinton was chosen as deligate for this Town to meet at Roxbury agreeable to the first artical in the Warrant.
Committee Voted, That Messrs Royal Tyler Esqr. Decon Sam- uel Holbrook, Capt. Peter B. Adams and Joseph White Jun". be a Committee to attend upon a Committee from the Sessions in View- ing the Ironwork Bridge
Voted, To allow Seth Turner Jur. Six Dollars it being for a Counterfitt Bill that he received in payment from the Town.
The meeting then dissolved.

The Anniversary Town Meeting for the Choice of Town officers.
The Freeholders and other Inhabitants of the Town of Braintree being assembled at the meeting house in the middle precenct in said Town Persuant to a legal Warrant the particulars whereof are as followeth (viz)
First, After a moderator Chosen to Choose a Clerk and and all other Town Officers for the ensuing year that the Law requires.
2dly, To See if the Town will build a work house or a Receptacle for the Poor of the Town.
3dly, To hear the request of sundry Persons with respect to their Taxes, and to act thereon as the Town shall think proper.
4thly, To Rais Such Sum or sums of money for the Town use as the Town shall think proper.
5thly To see if the Town will direct their Treasurer to give secu- rity upon interest for interest that is not annually paid.
6thly, To See if the Town will make any allowance unto Majr Seth Turner for his Loos in Receiving money of the Town at a depreciated Value.
7thly To Consider of and determine in what in what way they will repair the Highways this present year.
8thly, To hear the Report of any Committee of the Town or to choose shuch other Committees as the Town shall think proper.

Collect Executions delaid. Voted, that the Treasurer prolong the time of payment upon Execution against Ichabod Holbrook, and Daniel French to the Tenth day of April next.
[26] Execution of the Town Thios. French. Voted, That the Treasurer shall use such means as shall appear best to him for dis- charging an execut. that Ens". Thomas French has against the Town and that the Town will justify him, in acting in that matter as he shall think proper.

Committee to settle with John Burrage. Voted, that the pres- ent Selectmen be a Committee to settle with John Burrage for his Going into the Public Service for this Town and to make him such allowance as to them shall seem right.
Voted to adjourn this meeting to the day of our annual meeting in May next at one of the Clock in the afternoon, at this place.

Committee to Build an alms house Voted, to Build a Work House or a receptacle for the Town Poor, and that Mess'. Capt Jona Thayer, Capt John Vinton & Majr. Stephen Penniman, be a Committee to procure a suitable place or peice of Ground to set said house on and that it be built in the form of a Barrack. To be 33 feet in Length and sixteen feet wide and that the house be Built by said Committee in ye most reasonble and best manner that they can for the Towns Interest and when they shall have com- pleated said house for them to exhibit their accounts to the Town for payment.

Allowance to Maj'. Niles. Voted, to pay Majr. Jeremiah Niles one half of a Note of hand given by William Penniman dec'd to one Thomas Riley for his joining the Continental army for one of this Towns Quota of men provided that Majr. Niles consent that the whole of said note shall be canceled or given up to the Town upon his being paid one moity of the same.
Executions to be settled in one month. Voted, that Decon Samuel Holbrook be allowed one month from this day to settle the Towns Executions in his hands against Ichabod Holbrook and Daniel French.
Voted, That the Collectors of Towns Taxes observe such orders as with respect to arresting any Persons Body for taxes as they shall receive from the Selectmen and Assessors and that the Se- lectmen with the assessors direct the Collectors in that affair as to them sliall seem best, untill the further order of the Town.
Iron work bridge Voted, to Repair the Iron Work Bridge in the following manner viz. that there be one of the sluce ways left of six feet and six inches wide & to be two feet higher than the other sluces are, the new part of the Bridge to be of the same width of the old and to be built of large flat Stones.
Voted, that the Repairs of said Bridge be made by those who will engage to do the same upon the most reasonable Terms, and and that the job of repairing said Bridge be let at Public Vandue to the lowest bider
Voted, That Capt Silas Wild, Capt. John Hall & Colo" Ebenz". Thayer Jur. be a Committee to conduct the affairs of Repairing said Bridge Agreeable to the above Votes and determinations of the Town.
Voted, to accept the Report of the Committee that settled with the Treasurer May 4th. 1785 which Report is Recorded in the Treasurers Book page 359.
Voted, to adjourn this meeting to the Thirtieth day of this In- stant may at two o'clock P.M. at this place.

The Inhabitants of the Town of Braintree assembled by a legal Warrant, The Particulars whereof are as followeth (viz)
After a Moderator Chosen.
firstly, To Consider of and determine in what way it will be best for the Town to procure the money for their Treasurer that he has borrowed and advanced for the Town and further to see what the Town will allow him for his past Services as Treasurer.
2ªly, To See if the Town will make provision for the payment of such of the Towns debts as soon will be pressingly called for, if not prevented by payment and more especially for the payment of an execution that Capt. Joseph Baxter has against the Town
3rdly, To hear the Report of any Committee, or Choose any Committ that the Town may think Proper.
Assembled as aforesaid. Royal Tyler, Esqr. Moderator.
Voted, That the Sumn of £1000, be immediately assessed and ordered into the Treasury agreeably to the Vote of the Town on the Thirtieth day of may last.
Collectors that are excluded. Voted, that the assessors do not suffer the Tax Bill to go into the hands of any former Collectors that have Tax bills in their hands, that they are not properly dis- charged from by the Treasurers to home they are accountable.
Committee to Confer with the Treasurer. Voted, To Choose a Committee to confer with the Town's Treasurer, and to report to the Town at their annual meeting in March next, What in their opinion he ought to have for his services done for the Town in the office of Treasurer. Then Voted, that Messrs. Capt. Peter B. Adams, Decon Samuel Holbrook Colo1. Ebenz'. Thayer Jur. Mr. Sam11. Bass, and Mr. Joseph White Jur. be a Committee for that purpose.

The Inhabitants of the Town of Braintree assembled by a legal Warrant the particulars whereof are as followeth (viz.)
First, after a moderator Chosen, then to give in their Votes for a. County Treasurer,
2dly, To hear the request of a number of the Inhabitants of this Town with respect to selling or Leasing the Town's Lands.
Capt. Adams moderator. Assembled as aforesaid and made choice of Capt Peter B. Adams, for a moderator.
County Treasurer. The votes for County Treasurer, being called for ware given in then sealed up and delivered to a Con- stable as the Law directs.
of selling or leasing the towns Lands. The Town then Voted to choose a Committee to take under consideration the second ar- ticle in the Warrant and to report to this meeting in half an hour. then the Town made choice of Messrs. Eben'. Thayer Jr. James Brackett, Royal Tyler, Ichabod Holbrook Jun". John Vinton Thompson Baxter, Peter B. Adams, Moses French and Ichabod Holbrook, for said Committee and after taking said artical under their consideration they Report as followeth (viz)
Your Committee Reports to the Town that it is their opinion that it is expedient to Choose a Committee to examine into the Towns title to the Lands Petitioned for by General Palmer.
And if they shall concur that the Town have good right to sell the same, to report whither it is most for the Interest of the Town to sell the same and if they shall Judge it to be for the Towns In- terest to sell them at what price they shall be estimated and sold.
2dly, To determine whether the Town if they have no title to sell the lands will Leas them and for how long term and Thirdly to confer with any persons who may incline to Purchase or hire the same and Generally to inspect the State of the Town Lands Petitioned for and to Report particularly to the Town at their March meeting or at [33] an adjournment of this meeting Signed ap Order, Ebenz" Thayer Jun".
The Town then Voted to accept said Report and to Choose a Committee for the Purposes mentioned in said Report.
Voted, that their should be three Persons chosen for said Com- mittee
Then ware seperately nominated and Chosen, Royal Tyler Esq'. Moses French & Ichabod Holbrook Jun'. for said Committee.
The Town then Voted to disolve the meeting.
1786 March 6th.
The Anniversary Town Meeting for the Choice of Town Officers.
The Freeholders and other Inhabitants of the Town of Braintree being assembled at the Meeting house in the middle Precenct in said Town persuant to a legal Warrant the particulars whereof are as followeth (viz.)

BRAINTREE RECORDS, 1786.
First, after a Moderator Chosen to Choose a Town Clerk, and all such other Town Officers for the present year the Law requires, also to receive the Votes for a County Register and County Treas- urer
2ªly, To Grant such sums of money and in such manner as may be Judged Needfull for the Towns use, as for the payment of debts, Suport of the Poor, the Schools &c.
3ªly To Consider of and determine in what way they will repair the highways this present year.
4thly, To see if the Town will Build a Work House or a Recp- tacle for the Poor or to consider in what way it will be best for the Town to provide for the Poor and to act thereon as they shall think Proper.
To hear the Report of any of the Towns Committees and to choose any Committee as they shall think Proper.
