WAYNETOWN. Is a thrifty in- corporated town of 700 inhabitants, located on the I., B. & W. R'y, in Wayne township, Montgomery county, 10 miles northwest of Crawfordsville, the county seat and bank- ing town, and 54 northwest of Indianapolis. It was incorporated in 1876, and contains Christian, Methodist and Baptist churches, 1 graded school, 2 hotels, 1 saw mill, 2 flour mills, 1 brick yard and 1 planing mill. The Waynetown Press, a weekly newspaper, is sustained. It is surrounded by a good agricultural district. The land is slightly undulating, and well adapted to grazing and the cereal growth. WEST SHOALS. The smallest county seat in the State, contains a popula- tion of 200, a village on White river and the O. & M. R'y. Shoals, } mile distant, on the opposite side of the river, is really the town, but the county buildings are located in West Shoals and they are two distinct postoffices, known as Shoals and West Shoals.
