1,200 inhabitants, and is situated on the B. & O. R. R., 33 miles northwest of Fort Wayne, 130 northeast of Indianapolis, and 128 east of Chicago. It was incorporated a town in 1874, carries a bonded debt of $17,000, and supports 6 churches-Presby- terian, Catholic, Metliodist, Wesleyan, Lutheran and United Brethren-1 bank, 4 hotels, 1 graded school of 6 departments, and a weekly newspaper.
