DELPHI. The seat of justice for Carroll county, is an important incorpo- rated city of 3,000 inhabitants, pleasantly located on Deer creek at its confluence with the Wabash river, 17 miles northeast of Lafayette, 64 northwest of Indianapolis, and 20 southwest of Logansport. It is traversed by the W., St. L. & P. and Air Line Div. L., N. A. & C. Ry's., and is sur- rounded by one of the finest farming dis- tricts in the State. Delphi, for its size, is probably the wealthiest city in Indiana. It has wide, clean streets, good county build- ings, exceptionally fine business blocks and


residences, a good volunteer fire department, several churches, excellent schools, 3 hotels, 2 opera houses, 2 banks, and 2 weekly news- papers - Times and Journal. Prominent among its manufactories are several lime kilns, a foundry, 3 flour mills, wagon mate- rial and hub factory, 2 planing mills, cooper shop, furniture factory, and a stave factory.
