PRINCETON. The county seat of Gibson county, is a very progressive town of 3,000 inhabitants, located on the E. & T. H. and L., E. & St. L. R. R's, 27 miles north of Evansville, 82 south of Terre Haute, and 155 southwest of Indianapolis. It is noted for thrift and general activity. The assessed value of real and personal property is $1,112,565. Its public buildings are excellent and residences handsome. Princeton has 12 churches, 2 graded schools, a good hall-seating capacity, 500-public library, 1 bank, 2 weekly newspapers, and several hotels ; prominent among the latter is the well known Donald House, which is centrally located and first-class in all re- spects. The newspapers are known as the Clarion and Democrat. The grain trade here is very great, employing several large elevators, and that, with live stock, com- prise the chief exports. The principal manufactories include 4 flour mills, 2 cooper shops, 1 pump factory, 3 planing mills, 1 saw mill and 1 woolen mill.
