He lived in Topsfield, on both sides of Winthrop's Brook, and built a house near the site of the " Hobbs-Bell " house. III. ISAAC3 CUMMINGS, 3d, son of the preceding, b. in Topsfield, Mass., Sept. 15, 1664 ; d. there, Aug. 7, 1746; m., Dec. 25, 1688, Alice Howlet, dau. of Thomas and Alice (French) Howlet of Boxford. Elias and Mary (called Molly) (Patterson) Hemenway, of Marlborough (now Roxbury.) His father was a deacon of the Pottersville Baptist church. In S., he lived at first in the Farnsworth house, at 1932, where his first three ch. were born. In 1810, he bought the place at 178, where his remaining ch. were born. His sons purchased this farm of him. In 1836, he moved into the new house at 180, where he lived a year. He then lived in several other places, supplying Baptist pulpits and died, as we have seen, in Roxbury. He had seven ch .: I. Charles Hemenway8, 2, b., June 28, 1799; 2. He m. 2d, Apr. 19, 1846, Ruth Smart. He d. in Ohio, Dec. 7, 1870. He was a well educated and brilliant business man. He bought a half of the old homestead and built the house at 180; eventually owning the whole farm, which he sold in 1838 and moved to Ohio. His first wife had no ch. Charles, 1, m., June 30, 1836, Daphne Wright, b. in S., Jan. 21, 1811; d. in Lexington, Mich., in 1855; dau. of Reuben and Olive (Atwood) Wright of Washington, N. H., formerly of S. He d. in Lexington, Mich., June 26, 1855. He lived several years upon the farm at 202, where his wife's father had lived previously (see Reuben Wright). Here the first five ch. of Mr. Cummings were born ; the other two being natives of Lexington, Mich. He was a captain of the S. militia com- pany, and a man of much ability. He had seven ch .; I. 5. CYRUS8 CUMMINGS, son of Rev. Charles7, 1, m., May 25, 1846, Harriet Condon of Jersey City. When nineteen years of age he went to Texas and was seven years in the Texan navy. Later, he saw service in the Mexican War and was promoted to first lieutenant. He went to the North and was a merchant and farmer. He d. in Charlotte, Mich., Nov. 4, 1882. He had three ch .: 1. 1814; d. there, Nov. 29, 1894 ; son of Elijah and Amity (Fisher) Boyden. He was a merchant for a short time in Boston, and, for many years, kept a general store, in partnership with a brother, in Marlborough. He was the postmaster of the latter town several years. From 1854 to 1860, he was the mail route agent between Boston and Burlington. He was a justice of the peace, a state senator, and a man greatly honored and respected in the community and frequently elected to some official position. Mrs. Boyden was a rare lady, of scholarly tastes, refined and cultivated, and greatly beloved by all who knew her. She d. in Marlborough, Sept. 10, 1908. Mr. and Mrs. Boyden had no ch., but adopted into their family Cynthia Amelia Cummings, dau. of her brother, Joseph Elliot Cummings, q. v. She took the name of Emelia Boyden. See under Jos. JOHN4 CUMMINGS, 3d, san of the preceding John3, was b. in Dunstable (now Nashua), July 7, 1682 ; d. in Westford, Mass., Apr. 27, 1759; m., Oct. 3, 1705, Elizabeth Adams, b. in Chelmsford, Mass., April 26, 1680; d. in Westford, Mass., April 30, 1759, only three days after the death of her husband; dau. of Pelatiah and Ruth Adams. He was the first deacon of the Westford church. V. WILLIAM5 CUMMINGS, son of the preceding, b. in Chelmsford (now Westford) Mass., July 29.(or 27), 1712 ; d. in West Dunstable (now Hollis), N. H., Sept. 9, 1785; published, July 12, 1734, to Lucy Colburn of Dunstable. Her second husband was Ebenezer Ken- dall of Hollis. He was a deacon of the Hollis church. VI. PHILIP6 CUMMINGS, son of the preceding, was b., Nov. 26, 1745, in West Dunstable (now Hollis) ; d. in Homer, N. Y., March 29, 1836; m. Mary Carter, b., Nov. 15, 1751 ; d., Oct. 2, 1815. 1. GEORGE FRANKLIN2 CUMMINGS was b. in Woodstock (?), Vt., Feb. 7, 1864 (?), the son of Joshua Robert1 and Mary Jane (Casey) Cummings. He was m., Oct. 3, 1894, to Sarah Eliza (Kenney) Ball, b. in Upper Stewiacke, N. S., Aug. 18, 1869; dau. of David and Hannah Jane (Davis) Bentley, but legally adopted by Daniel and Nancy (Bigelow) Kenney of Northfield, Mass. She had first m. Levi R. Ball, from whom she was divorced. She had two ch. by Mr. Ball and one by Mr. Cummings, when the record was taken, as follows : I. Ger- ould Sidney Ball, b. in Petersham, Mass., Aug. 27, 1888; 2. Gladys Iona Ball, b. in Petersham, Mass., Nov. 10, 1890; 3. Wilfred Lawrence Cummings", b. in Athol, Mass., Sept. 11, 1896. Mr. Cummings lived in the Dunn house, at 122, in 1900-0I.
CUNNINGHAM.
1. ROBERT2 CUNNINGHAM, b. at Hillsborough, July 4, 1831 ; d. in Acworth, Oct. 21, 1884; was the son of Robert1 and Betsey (Marshall) Cunning- ham. He was m., in Weathersfield Bow, Vt., to his cousin, Hannah Rosetta Marshall, who was b. in Unity, Aug. 6, 1834 ; d. in Keene, Mar. 9, 1908; dau. of Joel and Lucina (Nichols) Marshall. They had five ch .: 1. Robert3, who was b. in Newport, and d., unm., in Unity, Sept. 1882. 2. Charles Sumner," who was b. in Unity, about 1856, and d. there, unm. 3. Arthur3, who was b. in Unity about 1858, and d. in Nelson, May 1889. He m. Cynthia Jefts, but left no ch. 4. Willis 3, b. in Unity about 1860. He is a laborer and unm. In 1902, he lived with his mother in the Lovisa Kingsbury house, at 117. 5. Adora 3, b. in Unity, Nov. 25, 1861 ; m. Arthur Bumford, q. v. Her son, William Bumford, q. v., moved into the Lovisa Kingsbury house, at 117, with his uncle Willis Cunning- ham, June 20, 1908, and remained there a short time. We have not taken the time to investigate the records of any member of this family who did not live in Sullivan.

2. FLORA R3. CURRIER, dau. of John S.2, 1, m. in Marlborough, by Rev. John L. Merrill, Oct. 6, 1883, George Elmer Ingalls of that town, b. in Troy, N. H., Mar. 5, 1862 ; son of Charles Fred. and Mary Eliza (Spofford) Ingalls. He was in the express business at Hillsborough Bridge, later a warp dresser in a woolen mill at Penacook. Two ch .: I.
