Finally the watching became so tedious that the body was disinterred, and buried under a wood pile in the widow's door-yard. He served three years in the British East India's Company's naval service at the time of the famous Sepoy rebellion. He afterwards joined the U. S. Navy and served fifteen months in Com. DANIEL SEWARD2 SMITH, son of Henry Willard1 and Eunice (Davis) Smith was b. Keene, July 12, 1856. He was named for Daniel Seward, formerly of S. who lived in Keene, and was a friend of his father. He m. Mar. 1879, Lorana Emeline Ellis, b. Manchester, Vt., Dec. 20, 1858; dau. of Warren Rawson and Emeline Frances (Baker) Ellis. He is a farmer, res. Keene, Stratham, Wakefield, Mass., and S. In S. he moved, in Sept. 1892, upon the Winchester farm, and from there, in Mar. 1894 to the M. L. Rawson farm, which he had purchased. He went from S. in 1896 to Haverhill, Mass., then to Stratham, and later to Chelms- ford and Wakefield, Mass. Ten ch .: 1. Mabel Almeda8, b. Keene, Sept. 13, 1880; m. Marl- borough, Jan. 11, 1822; d. Chesham, Jan. 9, 1897; dau. of John and Louisa (Converse) Buss. She m. (2) Nov. 25, 1880, Caleb Goodnow (q. v.) They had no ch., but adopted a dau. of Thomas Hardy (q. v.), Grace Annis Hardy3 Smith, b. Dublin, July 10, 1865; d. E. Sullivan, Oct. 8, 1891, bur. in Chesham. She was a school teacher.

restaurant of asphyxiation. He had turned on the gas in a fit of in- toxication, and perished, probably intentionally. He called himself forty years of age, to his friends at E. Sullivan, where he was employed in the mill of T. Hastings. His birthplace. date of birth, and parentage are unknown. Perhaps he did not know all of them himself. His body was entombed at the Woodland Cemetery in Keene.
SOUTHWICK.
DORCAS (TWITCHELL) SOUTHWICK, who d. at the house of George Washington Nims, Jan. 31, 1854, was the mother of Mrs. Nims. She was b. in Dublin, June 1, 1787; dau. of Gershom and Prudence (Adams) Twitchell. She m. June 11, 1809, Jedediah Kilburn Southwick. His name was given to the writer by his dau. Martha, and corrects Leonard's History of Dublin. That also has dates of his marriage and deaths of himself and widow incorrectly given. Mr. Southwick was a son of William; was b. in what is now Peabody, Mass., and sett. in Dublin (Pottersville) where he d. Apr. 11, 1843, aged 59. Their ch. were: Augusta who d. young; Sarah who m. George W. Nims (q. v.), Augusta (second of name) and Martha. Martha kept house for Mr. Nims several years. She was b. in Pottersville, July 6, 1823; d. Keene, Oct. 2, 1896; unm. The bodies of Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Southwick and of Martha are all buried in the cemetery at Dublin Centre.
