He represented the town of Packersfield at General Court, was captain of the militia, and held various offices of trust. ALONZO ADDISON2 WARE, son of Dea. Jonathan and Alice (Ham- blet ) Ware, b. Swanzey, Sept. 1, 1825, d. there, Feb. 8, 1895; m. Nov. 29, 1894, Marietta Adelaide Newell, b. Alstead, Mar. 15, 1854; dau. of Daniel P. and Betsey (Downing) Newell. After the death of Mr. Ware, his widow purchased the northern part of the former Daniel Goodnow house at East Sullivan. She moved to it Apr. 29, 1896. She was well educated, an accomplished teacher, and a valuable acquisition to the social circle of the town. She was the 2d wife of Mr. Ware. See Swan- zey, N. H. I. JOHN1 WARREN came to America in 1630 and settled in Water- town, Mass. His grandson, III, Samuel3 Warren, b. Westboro, Mass., Nov. 9, 1729, m. (1), Grace; m. (2), Elizabeth Bowen. In 1754, he bought a farm in Upton, Mass., and lived there until 1768, then re- moved to Grafton, Mass., until 1784. After a brief stay in Princeton,

Mass., he bought, Jan. 4, 1786, for £220, 124 acres in the southeast part of Packersfield. He sold the same place, Mar. 10, 1797, for £1200. His last years were spent with his son, Levi, in E. He was a Revolutionary soldier and served through the whole war. JACOB5 WELLMAN, son of Jacob4, was a great bear hunter and also a Revolutionary soldier. He lived at Lyndeborough. JOHN6 WELLMAN, son of Jacob5, was b. Lyndeborough; d. there, Sept. 1862; m. Betsey Moore. Among their children was Israel Putnam7, b. Lyndeborough, Mar. 1, 1829, 1.

1. ABIJAH4 WETHERBEE, son of Pauls, was a soldier in the Revolutionary War at fifteen years of age, and served throughout the war. Soon after his discharge he settled in Packersfield (now Nelson) and remained there eight or nine years. Afterwards he lived in Swan- zey, Gilsum, Surry, and Sullivan where he died Apr. 20, 1840.
