1. ABIJAH WILDER? KINGSBURY, son of Abijah6, VI., was their fourth ch. He was b. in Keene, Sept. 13, 1809; d. in Gilsum, June 19, 1894. He m. Ist, Sept. 9, 1834, Lavinia Locke, b. in S., Dec. 23, 1816; d. in S., at her father's, at site of 102, July 29, 1836; dau. of Samuel, Esq., and Lydia (Fay) Locke. He m. 2d, Mar. 21, 1837, Rhoda Emeline Wood, b. in Alstead, Jan. 9, 1815; d. in Gilsum, Apr. 5, 1887 ; dau. of Eleazar and Rhoda ( Williams) Wood. At the age of eleven, he went to S., and lived five years in the family of James Osgood, at 167. He returned to Keene and learned the trade of a shoemaker of his father. From 1833 to 1835, he carried on shoemaking in the so-called Tyler shop, at 238, and owned and lived in the house at 237, where G. L. Mason now (1911) lives. By his second wife he had three ch., all b. in Gilsum : I. Samuel Locke8, 2, b., Feb. 25, 1838 ; 2. Martha Levinia8, b., July 26, 1840 ; d. in Gilsum, Sept. 28, 1844 ; 3. Ist, Mar. 13, 1873, Sarah Emeline Kemp, b. in Dedham, Mass., June 18, 1848; d. in Alstead, June 14, 1874; dau. of Wm. Orlo and Lucy (Wood) Kemp, then of Alstead. 1. REV. ARNOLDS KINGSBURY, was the third of the thirteen ch. of Asa7, VII., and was b., Dec. 6, 1812, in Acton (then Townshend), Vt., correcting. Rev. Mr. Hurlin's MS. history of N. H. Baptist ministers deposited in the state library,which had stated that it was in Corinth, N. Y. A more extended notice of him, with a list of his settlements, may be seen on page 432. He d. at Fredonia, N. Y., June 8, 1893. He m., May 10, 1836, Cornelia M. Stone of Hinesburg, Vt. They had one son?, whose mind had been impaired for some cause, and who, of course, remained unmarried until his death. Mr. Kingsbury's official year in S. was from Feb. 27, 1836 to Mar. 6, 1837, preaching half of the time in S., and the other half in Nelson Factory Village (now Munsonville). In the meantime he was ordained. The council was convened in S., Nov. 1, 1836, and Mr. Kingsbury was examined. His ordination was on the following day at Nelson Factory Village. His son was b. after he left S. While in S., Mr. Kingsbury lived in what is now known as the Peabody house at the Four Corners, 235-

2. GEORGE S.8 KINGSBURY, son of Seth7, 1, b. in Roxbury, Jan. 15, 1838; d. there, Mar. 25, 1893, at the house of his brother Elbridge, at 53 of the Roxbury numbers. He was never married. For several years, 1878 to 1893, the old Jeremiah Mason farm in S., at 51, was owned and occupied by him. The family of John S. Currier and others kept his house and were employed by him. During the Civil War he was in Co. E, 18th Vt. Reg. He was a prominent man in affairs while he lived in the town. He owned the farm at 51 at his death.


3. ELBRIDGE& KINGSBURY, son of Seth7, 1, bought the old David W. Buckminster farm in Roxbury, at 53 of the Roxbury numbers, and lived there several years. He had intimate relations with Sullivan people and lived so near that we give the record of his family. He m., Apr. 27, 1886, Ada Harriet Fairbanks, b. in Roxbury, Dec. 11, 1849; still living; dau. of Madison and Lucretia (Ellis) Fairbanks. He was drafted into the army during the Civil War and paid $300 for a substitute. He used the East Sullivan P. O., while living in Roxbury. He still owns several hundred acres of land in Rox- bury, including the old D. W. Buckminster and Seth Kingsbury farms. Two ch. : 1. Gertrude Lucretia?, b. in Roxbury, June 26, 1887, a well educated young lady and a teacher in Keene. 2. Elbridge Herbert9, b. in Roxbury, Oct. 10, 1890, a student in Dartmouth College. 4

1. VICTOIRI LA BONTE, whose birth and parentage we have been un- able to ascertain, lived over a year, 1857-58, in the George F. Hubbard house which stood at 172 in S. He d. in the West, at the home of his son, Victoir (or Victor). He was known among Americans as Victor Good. He m. in Ver- mont, Marie Delina Beaulieau, b. in Burlington, Vt., date not ascertained. d. in S., at 172, Apr. 29, 1858. Her body was buried May 2, 1858, in the cemetery on Bradford St., in " Ash Swamp," in Keene. She was dau. of Theodore and Catherine (Ayotte) Beaulieau. She left four ch .: I. Victoir2 (called Victor), b. in Keene. He was twice married. The former wife d. in Keene. The second wife d. in the West, leaving two children. 2. Eveline2, b. in Keene. We have no particulars concerning her. The last that was known of her she was in Canada. 3. Marie Jeanne2, 2, b. in Keene, July 6, 1855. 4. Henriette2, b. in S., at 172, Oct. 25, 1857. After her mother's death, when she was a few months old, she was received into the family of George Kingsbury, q. v., and her name was legally changed to ETTA ELVIRA KINGSBURY, q. V.


2. MARIE JEANNEª LA BONTE, dau. of Victoir1, 1, was received into the family of Charles Whitney of Nelson, later of Keene. She was then known as Mary Jane Whitney. She m., 1873, Andrew Jackson Beal, b. in Dub- lin (now Harrisville), Jan. 21, 1844 ; son of Persia and Emily (Yeardly) Beal. He

1. GEORGE LEO2 L'AMOUREUX (usually called GEORGE L. LOVELY), the son of Alfred1 and Marguerite (Rodier) L'Amoureux, was b. in Nashua, Sept. 8, 1869. He is a carpenter and now res. in Keene. He lived a short time in S., in 1906, in the little cabin owned by Charles G. Wilder on the old Hubbard place, at 244. He was m., Mar. 17, 1900, to a negress named Rosalind Etta Slaughter. She was b. in Washington, D. C., Oct. 14, 1878 ; dau. of Richard and Nellie (Holmes) Slaughter. They have had no ch.


LANE.


1. TIMOTHY LIVINGSTON2 LANE, the son of John1 and Mary (Livingston) Lane, was b. in Braintree, Mass., Sept. 1, 1800; d., according to the Sentinel, at Hillsborough, Ill., Sept. 1, 1849. on his forty-ninth birthday anniver- sary. The General Catalogue of Dartmouth College places his death at Jan. I, 1849, which is the date given for the death of his wife in the Sentinel. Some of the records may be confused. He came to S. in 1825, having taken his degree of M. D. at Dartmouth in 1824. He remained in S. until 1831. He bought the place at 232 in 1825 and built the fine mansion which stands upon the spot, one of the best houses in town. He returned to S., and owned and lived in the house at 98 for about two years, 1834-1836. He was a good physician, but his usefulness was impaired to some extent by intemperance. He m., Oct. 25, 1825, Roxana Harvey, b. in Swanzey, Aug. 2, 1802; d. at Hillsborough, Ill., Jan. 1, 1849, ac. to the papers; dan. of Kimber and Polly or Mary (Hazelton) Harvey. Dr. Lane practised in S., Gilsum, and Fillmore, Ill. He had four ch. : I. Jonathan Bowers3, b. in S., Sept. 10, 1826; twice m., first, to Sarah Harris, 2d, to Rachel S. Bost. 2. Jane Alantha3, b. in S., Nov. 25, 1828; d. in Gilsum, May 6, 1836. 3. Timothy Lionel3, b. in S., Apr. 2, 1830; d. in Lunenburg, Vt., Apr. 20, 1832. 4. Mary Jane3, b. in Gilsum, Dec. 15, 1837; res. in Fillmore, Ill. The first three ch. were b. at 232.


LARMAY (L'ARMÉE).


1. DAVID2 LARMAY (or L'ARMEE), the son of Joseph1 and Julie (Chauver) Larmay, was b. at Upper Moscow, Ontario, Oct. 17. 1826 (ac. to his own statement to us) ; d. in Worcester, Mass., March 9, 1909, ae. 81 yrs., 4 mos., 22 days, ac. to the death record upon the Keene records. This would make the year of his birth 1827. He was probably right however. He m., Oct. 5, 1845, Eliza Sweney, b. in Georgia, Vt., Apr. 14, 1824; d. in Worcester, Mass., Mar. 13, 1909, four days after her husband's death, in her eighty-fifth year; dau. of Joseph and Julia (Gabbery or Gabray) Sweney. Julie3. b. at Chazy, N. Y., March 4, 1863; d. at Wellsboro', N. Y., unm., Apr. 1, 1885. This old couple owned the Bridge house at East S., at 32, a little more than a year, from 1899 till 1900. They were here so short a time that we have not undertaken to carry out the full records of their ch., none of whom ever lived in town.
