30. ASAHEL6 NIMS, JR., son of Asahel5, 2d, 9, after his father's death, continued to reside upon the old Capt. Nims homestead in S., at 149, and to care for his grandfather, Capt. Eliakim Nims. Having sold this place to the brothers, Samuel A. and Alfred Seward, he moved, in 1851, to a new house, at 148, which he had built on a part of the old farm. He lived here fifteen years, and moved, in 1866, to Keene. He was an honest and prosperous farmer. He d. in Keene, Aug. 14, 1869. He m., Sept. 14, 1842, Roxana Osgood, b. in S., Mar. 24, 1819 ; d. in Keene, Sept. 14, 1906; dau, of James W. and Betsey (Wilson) Osgood. She was a bright, intelligent woman ; amiable and lovely in manner ; attractive in personal appearance, and never more so than in her eighty-eighth year. Six ch. :

31. WILLIAM6 NIMS, son of Asahel, 2nd, 9, was a farmer in Keene, where he d., Oct. 31, 1852. He m., May 5, 1841, Mary Beals Eveleth, b. in Keene, Mar. 15, 1823; still living there in her ninety-first year ; dau. of Perley and Lucy (Wright) Eveleth. Four ch .:

He is a farmer and lives upon the old Perley Eveleth homestead, near the eastern line of Keene, on what is known as "Branch Road." They have one ch. : 1. William Chester8 Nims, b. in Keene, Sept. 10, 1877 ; unm. in 1913. Mr. Nims has, for many years, been prominent in city affairs. He has served for sixeeen years as one of the assessors.


3. LUCY MARIA7 NIMS, b. in Keene, Jan. 26, 1846; m., April 11, 1900, Horace Loring Goodnow, b. in Keene, Feb. 2, 1838 ; d. in Keene, Oct. 30, 1911 ; son of Henry and Sophia (Dickey) [Fay] Goodnow. They lived on the old Lawrence farm on Beech Hill. He owned the highest peak upon this hill, upon which he built a tower for observation, which he called the " Horation Tower," from the Latin form (Horatius) of his first name. The view from this tower is one of the best to be obtained anywhere within several miles of Keene. Lovers of sublime scenery should visit it more frequently than has been the case. Mr. and Mrs. Goodnow had no ch.

They have been very successful in business, and have built a handsome building of four stories on the corner of West and Federal Sts. Their business is on the lower floor, the upper floors being used for offices and apartment suites. Louis has a fine resi- dence on Park Avenue. He m., Oct. 14, 1885, Martha Augusta Cutler, b. in Keene, July 14, 1865; dau. of Charles Henry and Elizabeth A. (Burnham) Cut- ler of Keene. They had three ch. : I. Stewart Arthur8 Nims, b. in Keene, Apr. 2, 1887 ; a graduate of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, with degree of B. S., in 1911. He is an electric engineer, at present (1913) in the service of the state. 2. Robert Chester® Nims, b. in Keene, March 29, 1890; d. there, Feb. 13,. 1906; a remarkably bright young lad, whose early death crushed the hopes of a very promising career. 3. 8. FREDERICK CHESTER" NIMS, b. in Keene, Feb. 4, 1866; m., May 26, 1896, Harriet Maria Parker, b. in Fitchburg, Mass., June 13, 1865; dau. of William Wallace and Emily Adaline (Sandall) Parker. He is proprietor of the first-class livery stable of Nims Bros. & Co., on Roxbury St., Keene. No ch.

She m., June 2, 1841, Benjamin Emery Webster, b. in Gilsum, June 6, 1815 ; d. in Walpole, Nov. 21, 1895; son of True and Nancy (Ware) Webster. Mr. Webster subsequently m. her sister Abigail Nims, 35, q. v. He was in the livery business in Boston, while living with Emily.

She m., Aug. 29, 1844, Charles Johnson Wilder, b. in Keene, July 7, 1821 ; killed at the battle of Darbytown Road, Va., Oct. 13, 1864; son of Azel and Elvira (Warner) Wilder. He was a soldier in the 39th Ill. Vols. in the Civil War, being a Ist Lieut. in Co. H. Four ch .:

AZEL HERBERT WILDER, b. in Boston, Mass., March 28, 1854; m., Dec. 10, 1891, Stella May Jolliff, b. in Patoka, Marion Co., Ill., Oct. 2, 1870 ; dau. of Abner Wilson and Jane (Belcher) Jolliff of Pomona, Cal., where he res. when this record was taken. He was a bookkeeper, school-teacher, and orange ranchman at Pomona. He had no ch. when the record was taken. We hear that his wife has since died, leaving two ch. We have been unable to ascertain the facts.


4. MARY ELVIRA? WILDER, b. in Chicago, Ill., July 31, 1857, a grad. of the Plymouth, N. H., Normal School. She has been a successful teacher at Kemper Institute, Kenosha, Wis., and other places ; is unm.


39. SAMUEL6 NIMS, son of Roswell5, 11, d. in Boston, Mass., Feb. 5, 1858, where he was engaged in the livery business. He m., Nov. 4, 1849, Jerusha Little Lyon of Salem (now a part of Derby), Vt., where she was b., Feb. 3, 1826. She d. at Derby, Vt., June 4, 1913. She was the dau. of Mason and Priscilla (Cummings) Lyon. They had one dau. :

She was employed many years at the large store of R. H. Stearns & Co., at the cor. of Tremont St. and Temple Place, Boston, Mass. She had no ch. She d. in Springfield, Mass., May 28, 1904.

He m. 2d, Feb. 20, 1889, Mrs. Mary Sophia (Arey) Reynolds, b. at Rock Falls, Ill., Feb. 22, 1848; d. at Desmet, So. Dakota, Oct. 12, 1911 ; dau. of Richard and Martha (Davis) Arey, and widow of Giden Bushnell Reynolds, whom she m., Jan. 8, 1868, and who d., Feb. 3, 1887, and who was in the 12th Ill.
