NAROMORE.
CLARKE NAROMORE appears to have been receiving aid from the town of Sullivan in 1844. Martin Rugg was paid for taking care of him, and Dr. J. A. Crowley was paid for medical attentions. We do not know who he was nor whence he came. There were many of that name in Winchester, and branches of the Winchester stock were found in Swanzey and Richmond. He was prob- ably of that stock of Naromores, the name being sometimes spelled Naramore. His death is not recorded in either the town or church records of Sullivan. He probably did not die when he was sick at Mr. Rugg's. He owned no land in town, was probably unmarried at the time, simply employed in the place tem- porarily, and not a legal resident.
NASH.
I. FAMILY OF ABRAHAM, SR., AND JAMES NASH.
I. JAMES1 NASH was an early settler of Weymouth, Mass., and was made a freeman in 1645. II. FRANCIS2 NASH of Braintree, most probably a son of James1 of Weymouth, was the ancestor of all the Nashes of Sullivan and Gil- sum. He was prominent in a military company as early as December 1675. He appears to have been married twice. By his former w., Elizabeth, he had a son whose name is not given in the records of Braintree; also Elizabeth, Thomas, and Margaret. By his second w., Mary, he had two sons whose names are recorded in Braintree, Benjamin, b., June 25, 1700, and James, b., Oct. 6, 1703. Francis Nash d. in Braintree, Aug. 3, 1713. Mary, his widow, d. there, Apr. 16, 1735, ae. ab. 75. III. BENJAMIN3 NASH, son of Francis2 and Mary, was b. in Braintree, Mass., June 25, 1700, O. S. He d. there before 1755. His widow, Ann, m., Nov. 15, 1755, Samuel Briggs of Taunton, Mass., and moved thither with her young ch. Benjamin and Ann Nash had six ch., whose births are recorded in Braintree. They were Sarah, Benjamin, Daniel, Abraham, Han- nah, and Rachel.
1. ABRAHAM4 NASH, SR., son of Benjamin3 and Ann (Smith) Nash, was b. in Braintree, Mass., May 16, 1740 (ac. to Braintree records, which are perhaps more nearly right than a family record, which gives the date, May 29, 1740). He d. in Shutesbury, Mass., May 25, 1791. He m. Lydia Smith of Taunton, Mass. She was b. there, Sept. 7, 1740, and d. in Gilsum, Feb. 6, 1830, at the house of her grandson, Cyrus Bliss, which was in the woods to the south- east of the John Davis house, in the east part of the town. After the death of Mr. Nash, Mrs. Lydia Nash came to S., in 1794, and bought what was later the Eaton farm, and erected her first cabin at 211. Later, a larger house was erected at 21112, which accommodated for a time the family of James5 Nash. About 1803, shortly after the death of her crippled son, Levi Nash, Mrs. Lydia Nash went to Eaton, N. Y., and lived a few years with her son, Asa Nash, who had formerly lived in S., at 212. On returning to New Hampshire, she spent some time with her children in Gilsum, and, in 1816, went to live with her

grandson, Cyrus Bliss, where she died, as stated. Abraham, Sr., and Lydia had seven ch., b. in Taunton, Mass., except the last, who is said to have been b. in Belchertown, Mass. They were : 1. See the Bliss family, page 856. 5. Levi5, b. about 1772 ; d. in S., at 211 72, Dec. 3, 1802, about 30 years of age. He was a dwarfed cripple and always used a crutch. 6. Betsey5, b., May 23, 1774; m. James Nash had lived, after his marriage, in Stoughton and Taunton in Massachusetts, and Winchester, N. H. He came to S., with his mother, in 1794, and, with her, built the house that stood at 21112. He moved to his farm in the east part of Gilsum in 1797, where he lived the rest of his life. He had ten ch .: I. James6, b. in Stoughton, Mass., Feb. 23, 1782 ; d. in Gilsum, Dec. 6, 1802 ; 2.
