Entered service in May, 1917, in the Officers' Training Camp at Fort Benjamin Harrison. Received commission as First Lieutenant of Infantry. Sailed overseas September 11, 1917. Was assigned to 16th United States Infantry. Re- turned to United States in May, 1918, as instructor at Camp Gordon, Atlanta, Georgia. Promoted to Captain of Infantry, August 24, 1918. Was at Camp Gordon when the Armistice was signed. Discharged in December, 1918.

Entered service July 18, 1918, receiving his training at Fort Sheridan. Com- missioned Lieutenant in the Infantry, September 16, 1918. One of the youngest officers in the service, being commissioned at the age of eighteen. Served four months as an instructor at Northwestern University. Dis- charged in January, 1919, in Chicago.
FRANK ALLEN DRAKE
Overseas Y. M. C. A. Secretary. Born May 26, 1873. Address, 871 South Lincoln avenue, Springfield, Illinois. When the need for men of his age for overseas work with the Y. M. C. A. was expressed, he gave up the principalship of the Central Junior High School in Springfield and entered this service. He was called July 15, 1918, and sailed for overseas August 26, 1918. Was sent to Dijon, France, where the camouflage camp was located, to establish a Y. M. C. A. hut, and served there for eight months. Was then appointed Educational Advisor for the Dijon region, reaching from Paris to the German-Swiss border, and was serving in this capacity when the Armistice was signed. Discharged June 12, 1919, at Baune, France.

Sergeant, Quartermaster Corps, Commisariat Division, U. S. A. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Luther Elliott, 925 North Eighth street, Springfield. Born May 5, 1888. Entered service June 26, 1918, in Springfield. Re- ceived his training at Camp Taylor, Kentucky. Was unable to go over- seas because of an operation, but offered to remain in service at Camp Taylor. During the influenza epidemic, he volunteered to nurse those who were ill. Was at Camp Taylor when the Armistice was signed. Dis- charged in September, 1919.
