Received his training at Rahe Army School, Kansas City, Mo., and Ft. Bliss, Tex. Was in New York when the Armistice was signed, and a few days later sailed for France on the Empire Russia. Stationed at Park Unit 535, re- pairing automobiles. Discharged June 1, 1919, at Camp Lee, Va.


JOHN P. NATTERMANN


Ensign (Deck), United States Navy. Son of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Nattermann, both deceased. Born February 25, 1896. Address, '547 South Grand avenue, west, Springfield, Ill. Entered service September 5, 1917, having enlisted May 12, 1917. Detailed at Great Lakes in Drill Office until entrance in Officers' Material School, Municipal Pier, Chi- cago, Ill., May 30, 1918. Received commission as Ensign, Third Class, United States Naval Reserve Force, January 1, 1919. Released from active duty February 20, 1919.

Re- ceived his training at Camp Logan, Houston, Tex. Sailed overseas in May, 1918, on the Agamemnon. In action in the Somme Offensive and the Meuse-Argonne. Was commended for gallantry by Division Com- mander. Was in the front lines, St. Mihiel Sector, when the Armistice was signed. Discharged May 31, 1919, at Camp Grant, Ill.


PHILIP J. NEEF


Private, 140th Company, Train Corps, U. S. A. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Neef, 8351/2 South Glenwood avenue, Springfield. Born March 7, 1890, in Springfield. Entered service June 26, 1918, in Springfield. Received his training at Camp Taylor, Ky., Ft. Benjamin Harrison, In- dianapolis, Ind., and Camp Upton, N. Y. Sailed overseas September 30. 1918. Company was fully equipped and awaiting orders to go to front, when the Armistice was signed. January 15, 1919, was transferred to Transportation Corps, Headquarters 23rd Grand Division, as File Clerk, and was stationed at Verdun, France. Discharged July 21, 1919, at Camp Grant, Ill.


IRA E. NEER


Captain, Medical Corps, U. S. A. Son of Mrs. Sarah E. Neer, of Rochester, Ill. Born in December, 1875. Address, 1433 Lowell avenue. Springfield, Ill. Entered service in August, 1917. Trained at Camp Greenleaf. Assigned to Surgical Service, Base Hospital, Camp Beaure- gard, La. Sailed overseas July 5, 1918, on the Mauretania. Served under the First Army during the St. Mihiel and Argonne Forest engagements. Was at Argonne Forest when the Armistice was signed. Discharged Aug- ust 1, 1919, at Camp Grant, Ill.


LESLIE ARTHUR NEIL


Quartermaster, Second Class, United States Navy. Son of Mrs. Emily Neil, 804 North Ninth street, Springfield. Born May 23, 1896, in Spaulding, Ill. Entered service May 28, 1918, in Peoria. Received his training at Great Lakes Naval Station and Detroit Naval Training Sta- tions. Was at sea, near Halifax, Nova Scotia, when the Armistice was signed.
