Entered service June 20, 1918, in Springfield. Received his training at Camp Taylor, Ky. and Camp Beauregard, La. Was at Camp Beauregard when the Armis- tice was signed. Discharged February 28, 1919, at Camp Beauregard, La.


MAURICE J. HESSE


Sergeant, M. R. S. Unit 308, Motor Truck Corps, U. S. A. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hesse. Born November 20, 1893. Address, 1314 North Eighth street, Springfield. Entered the service June 13, 1918, in Springfield. Received his training at Camp Jesup, Ft. McPherson, Ga. Sailed overseas September 12, 1918. Engaged in repairing trucks, and after the signing of the Armistice was stationed at Neufchateau, France. Discharged in July, 1919, at Camp Grant, Ill.


JOHN G. HESSELMAN


Battalion Sergeant-Maior, Field Artillery, 155mm. G. P. F., U. S. A. Son of John W. and Kate Shaw Hesselman, 629 West Capitol avenue, Springfield. Born July 25, 1894, in Springfield. Entered the service December 11, 1917, in Decatur, Ill. Received his training at Camp Dodge, Ia. Sailed overseas August 24, 1918 on the Empress of Britain, with the 339th Field Artillery, 88th Division. Left this regiment latter part of November and was on duty with the American Commission to Negotiate Peace, Paris. Discharged September 27, 1919, at Camp Grant, Ill.

Entered the service September 12, 1918, in Springfield. Re- ceived his training at Syracuse Recruit Camp, Syracuse, N. Y., and Wash- ington Barracks, Washington, D. C .; Camp Humphreys, Va. Was at Washington Barracks Drafting School when the Armistice was signed. Discharged January 7, 1919, at Camp Grant, Ill.

EDGAR POWELL HICKEY


Sergeant, First Class, Signal Corps, U. S. A. Son of Joseph and Maude Hickey, 2163 South Tenth street, Springfield. Born October 18, 1896, in Atterberry, Ill. Enlisted May 20, 1918, in Springfield. Received his training at Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, Mo., and Ft. Leavenworth, Kan. Sailed overseas July 12, 1918. Was stationed at I.e Mans, France, with the Fifty-eighth Service Company, Signal Corps, keeping telephone lines in condition for army use. Received corps citation. Was in Le Mans when the Armistice was signed. Returned to United States in August, 1919. Discharged September 3, 1919, at Camp Grant, Ill.


JACKSON W. HICKEY


Sergeant, First Class, 108th Signal Corps, Thirty-third Division. Son of John and Agnes Hickey, Chicago. Born February 10, 1890, in Spring- field. Entered service March 9, 1916, with Troop D, serving on border. In World War service, received his training at Camp Logan, Houston, Tex. Sailed overseas May 20, 1918, on the Melita. In action in the second battle of the Somme and the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. Was in action in the Troyon Sector Defensive when the Armistice was signed. Discharged June 7, 1919, at Camp Grant, Ill.


CHARLES V. HICKOX


Captain, Headquarters Company, 306th Field Artillery, Seventy-seventh Division, U. S. A. Son of Charles and Kate C. Hickox, 509 South Sixth street, Springfield. Born March 5, 1890, in Springfield. Served with Squadron A, during Mexican Trouble until 1916. Entered service in World War in May, 1917. Received training at Plattsburg Train- ing Camp and commissioned First Lieutenant in September, 1917. Sailed overseas in April, 1918. Attended Officers' Training Camp at Langres, France, and commissioned Captain in August, 1918. In action in the Vesle, Argonne Forest and Meuse-Argonne Offensive. Returned from overseas April 28, 1919. Discharged May 10, 1919, at Camp Up- ton, N. Y.
