Received training at Camp Doniphan and Ft. Sill, Okla. Sailed overseas in April, 1918, in command of 128th Field Artillery. Attended the Artillery School at Coetquidon, France. Returned to United States as instructor in Field Artillery. Discharged December 12, 1918.

Trained further in the Tenth Area, Langres, France. In action at Chateau Thierry, Fismes, Verdun, and Meuse-Argonne. Received the Croix de Guerre. Was in action in the Argonne Forest when the Armistice was signed.

Released from active service, February 9, 1919, in New York.
