Entered service May 14, 1917, in Springfield, Ill. Received his training at First Officers' Training Camp, Ft. Sheridan, Ill., and Camp Bowie, Ft. Worth, Tex. Sailed overseas July 18, 1918, on the Ryndam. Trained further in Bar-sur-Aube area. In action in Meuse-Argonne, Battle of St. Etienne, Battle of Forest Farm on Aisne river, and Argonne Forest. Was in Louppy le Petit, France, when the Armistice was signed. Decorated with Croix de Guerre, with gold star. Received personal citation by General Pershing, for distinguished and ex- ceptional gallantry in action at Attigny, France, October 21, 1918; also, personal citation from Petain, Marechal de France, for gallantry in action October 6 to October 28, 1918. Discharged July 8, 1919, at Camp Grant, Ill.

Stationed at Brest, Gievres, and Marseilles, France. Was at Gievres, France, when the Armistice was signed. Dis- charged July 23, 1919, at Camp Grant, Ill.

Chief Electrician, United States Navy. Son of Gaylord Edwards, Buffalo, Ill. Born October 25, 1891, in Buffalo, Ill. Entered service before United States entered the war. Received his training at Great Lakes Naval Sta- tion and in Brooklyn, N. Y. Assigned to the U. S. S. Utah and did fleet and convoy duty. Was at Bantry Bay, Ireland, when the Armistice was signed.

Sheridan, Ill., in machine gun instruction and French combat. Was sent to Minneapolis, Minn., September 26, 1918, and placed in charge of auto mechanics at the Univer- sity of Minnesota. Later assigned to charge of first battalion of 2nd Regi- ment of University of Michigan S. A. T. C. Discharged January 3, 1919, at Minneapolis, Minn.

Wounded in action. Was in Sedan, France, when the Armistice was signed. Received commendation for bravery in the advance east of Sergy. Discharged May 16, 1919, at Camp Dodge, Ia.
