Commissioned First Lieutenant, Chaplain, at Camp Taylor, Ky., May 29, 1918, and ordered overseas, to report to Commanding General, A. E. F., in France. Arrived in France June 23, 1918, and assigned to 111th Infantry, 28th Division. Saw service with this organization at Chateau Thierry, crossing the Marne there, and left organization before Fismes, August 4, 1918. Ordered to hospital account heing gassed and suffering from nervous ex- haustion, August 4 to Octoher 14, 1918. Assigned Senior Chaplain Signal Corps Replacement Depot on October 17, 1918, and was there when the Armistice was signed. Recommended for promotion to grade of Chaplain Decemher 9, 1918. Returned to United States January 23, 1919. Discharged at Camp Dix, N. J., January 27, 1919.
