Entered service May 29, 1917, in Springfield. Received his training at Jefferson Barracks and Ft. Riley, Kan. Sailed overseas in July, 1917. In action in Cantigney, Chateau Thierry, Soissons, Mons and St. Mihiel. Was wounded in both limbs, shoulders and head, in October, 1918, in the Argonne. Received two citations. Was in France when the Armistice was signed. In base hospital at Ft. Sheridan, Ill., at time of writing.


WILLIAM BAIN MOFFAT


Sapper, Company D, 7th Battery, Canadian Engineers. Son of Joseph and Margaret Moffat, 1913 South Spring street, Springfield. Born May 1, 1895, in Scotland. Entered service June 10, 1918, in Toronto, Canada. Received his training at Seaford and Bramshott, England. Sailed over- seas July 7, 1918. In action in Cambria and Mons. Was in Mons, France, when the Armistice was signed. Discharged March 29, 1919, at London, Ontario.

Received his training at Great Lakes Naval Station, Receiving Ship, Philadelphia, Pa. Sailed overseas in September, 1918, on the Leviathan. Served aboard the Orizaba and U. S. S. Carolla. Was at Southampton, England, when the Armistice was signed. Discharged October 22, 1919, at Great Lakes, Ill.

Sergeant, Company 13, Infantry, U. S. A. Son of Mr. and Mrs A. Molash, 1322 East Edwards street, Springfield. Born October 30, 1895, in Springfield, Ill. Entered service in September, 1915, in Springfield. Re- ceived his training at Jefferson Barracks, Mo. and Camp Meredith, N. J. Sailed overseas October 11, 1918. Re- ceived his training at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., Camp Eagle Pass, Tex., and San Antonio, Tex. Was at El Paso, Tex., when the Armistice was signed. Discharged August 8, 1919.


ELMER CASPER MOLINE


Seaman, United States Navy. Son of Henry and Hattie Moline, 923 South Spring street, Springfield. Born October 29, 1902, in Springfield. Entered service December 10, 1917. Received his training at Great Lakes Naval Station, Camp Farragut, Camp Dewey, Camp Ross and aboard the training ship, U. S. S. Columbia. Assigned to service aboard the freighter, U. S. S. Tanamo. Sailed overseas first in March, 1918, making repeated trips across with provisions. Was at St. Nazaire, France, when the Armistice was signed. Discharged April 9, 1919, at New York.


DEWITT HALL MONTGOMERY


Private, 29th Training Battery, Field Artillery, U. S. A. Son of Mrs. Lewis E. Montgomery, of Springfield. Born December 6, 1884, in Spring- field. Entered service in October, 1918. Received training at the Field Artillery Officers' Training School, Camp Zachary Taylor, Louisville, Ky. Was at Camp Taylor when the Armistice was signed. Discharged No- vember 29, 1918, at Camp Taylor, Ky.


JAMES LYLE MONTGOMERY


Seaman, First Class, United States Navy. Son of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Montgomery, 912 West Grand avenue, north, Springfield. Born Janu- ary 4, 1898, in Petersburg, Ill. Entered service November 23, 1917, in Springfield. Received his training at Great Lakes Naval Training Sta- tion. Assigned to the Princess Montokia, in transport service, transferred to the U. S. S. Kentucky, going to Cuba and later to Hospital Boat, U. S. S. Lolace. Discharged July 17, 1919, at Great Lakes, 111.
