Seaman, Second Class, United States Navy. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis M. Coe, 2054 East Edwards street, Springfield, Ill. Born January 19, 1899, in Springfield, Ill. Entered service January 11, 1918, in Spring- field, Ill. Received his training at Great Lakes Naval Training Station and on board Receiving Ship, Norfolk, Va. Assigned to the U. S. S. Arkansas, and sailed overseas in June, 1918. Was off the west coast of Scotland when the Armistice was signed. Was in squadron in the Grand American Fleet when the German Fleet surrendered. Discharged May 20, 1919, at Great Lakes, Ill.
