Received his training at Camp Logan, Houston, Texas, Aviation Section, Signal Corps, Kelly Field, Texas, and Aviation Mechanics' School, St. Paul, Minnesota. Transferred to Casualty Detachment at Eberts Field, Lenoke, Arkansas. Was at Graden City, New York, when the Armistice was signed. Dis- charged May, 1919, at Garden City, New York.

S. Mt. Vernon. In action Meuse-Argonne Offensive, Albert Amiens Sector, Troyon Sector. Was wounded in action, August 9, 1918. On Troyon Sector when the Armistice was signed. Discharged May 30, 1919, at Camp Grant, Ill.


EDWARD J. BRETZ


Sergeant, 42nd Company, Coast Artillery, U. S. A. Son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Bretz, 1330 East Capitol avenue, Springfield. Born January 7, 1884, in Springfield. Entered service April 10, 1917, in San Francisco. California. Received his training at Ft. Baker, California. Having had previous service in the army and navy, he was held at Fort Baker to train new men. Was at Fort Baker when the Armistice was signed. In Service at time of writing.


ELMER JAMES BRETZ


Mechanic, Company D, 310th Regiment, 78th Division, Infantry, U. S. A. Son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Bretz, 1330 East Capitol avenue, Springfield, Illinois. Born August 25, 1889, in Springfield. Entered the service February 23, 1918, in Springfield. Received training at Camp Taylor and Camp Sherman. Sailed overseas September 3, 1918, on the Karmala. Was stationed at Knotty Ash, Liverpool and DeAvours, France. Was in Camp DeAvours, France, when the Armistice was signed. Discharged June 11, 1919, at Camp Grant, Illinois.

Sailed overseas April 25, 1918, on the Kroonland. Was in camp at St. Nazaire. In action at St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne. Was at Brandyville, France, when the Armistice was signed. Discharged August 4, 1919, at Camp Grant.


JOSEPH F. BREWER


Private, Motor Transport Corps, Repair Shop, Unit No. 303, U. S. A. Son of James M. and Leotie Brewer, 1014 West Monroe street, Spring- field. Born December 28, 1890. Entered service December 10, 1917. Received his training at Jefferson Barracks, Camp Meigs, Washington. D. C. Sailed overseas January 15, 1918, on the Celtic. Was stationed near Vernuiel, France. Discharged June 27, 1919.
