Assigned to Montenegrin Unit of Balkan Mission, leaving Paris, France, January 1, 1919, for Montenegro. Received Serbian Cross of Mercy. Discharged August 26, 1919, in New York, N. Y.

Sailed overseas October 21, 1918, on the Llan Stephan Castle. Stationed at Bazoilles-sur- Meuse and Bar-sur-Aube. Was in Paris, France, when the Armistice was signed. Returned to the United States, June 5, 1919, and received her discharge June 8, 1919, in New York, N. Y.

Nurse, Unit W, (in command Lt .- Col. D. M. Ottis), U. S. A. Daughter of Joseph H. Wood, Sr., Sullivan, Ill. Born April 1, 1889, in Lovington, Ill. Entered service March 27, 1918, in Springfield, Ill. Sailed overseas May 11, 1918, on the Ascania. Stationed at Camp Hospital No. 40, Knotty Ash, near Liverpool, England. Was at Camp Knotty Ash when the Armistice was signed. Discharged June 29, 1919, in Springfield, Ill.

Ambulance Chauffeur, Woman's Motor Transport Corps. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Colgan, 309 South Grand avenue, west, Springfield, Ill. Born in Springfield, Ill. Entered service in September, 1918, in New York City. Served in New York in military work. Was especially active driving wounded soldiers returned from service abroad. Released from service in March, 1919, in New York City.

GERTRUDE E. CRAIG


Registered Nurse, United States Navy. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Craig, Edinburg, Ill. Address, 526 South State street, Springfield, Ill. Served with British Expeditionary Forces, as a member of the Chicago Unit which left U. S. A. June 15, 1915, for six months' service. On duty at Base Hospital No. 23, at Etaples, France. Enlisted in the United States Navy in November, 1917, and did home service at Naval Hospitals at Philadelphia, Pa., and New York, N. Y., and as a member of Navy Base Hospital No. 4. Sailed in October, 1918, for Navy Base No. 6, Queenstown, Ireland. Returned on Northern Pacific, which was beached on Fire Island, January 1, 1919. Did relief work there, and returned to duty at U. S. Naval Hospital, New York, N. Y. In August, 1919, was temporarily released from active service.


MRS. GENEVIEVE B. CUMMINS


Mail Carrier, in Government Service. Daughter of Mrs. James Fyn, Springfield, Ill. Born July 27, 1894, in Waverly, Ill. Address, 1130 Enos avenue, Springfield, Ill. Took husband's mail route No. 6, when he entered service, June 26, 1918. Served as mail carrier for six months, until his return from service.

Red Cross Nurse. Daughter of Frank and Eugenia DeCosta, 902 South Second street, Springfield, Ill. Born November 19, 1895, in Decatur, Ill. Entered service in September, 1918, in Springfield, Ill., as one of five nurses from Springfield Hospital comprising a Training School Unit. Assigned to Camp Jackson, S. C. Served at Camp Jackson until December, 1918, at which time discharge was given.


CLARA TOWELL DOCKUM


Y. W. C. A. Overseas Secretary. Ranked as Officer, Militarized in Paris, France, as a member of American Expeditionary Forces. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Myers Dockum, 1031 North Seventh street, Spring- field, Ill. Served during the war in Springfield, Ill., and Syracuse, N. Y. Received special training in preparation for overseas work at Syracuse University in January, 1919. Sailed overseas February 1, 1919, on the Leviathan. In Paris was assigned to duty in Bourges (cher) France, with Queen Mary's Women's Army Auxiliary Corps, (W. A. A. C.), working with American Expeditionary Forces, Central Records Overseas. Served in France and Poland in relief work among girls and women and special welfare work among children.
