South Dakota. In convoy service until the Armistice was signed, then served in the work of bringing troops home. Discharged June 19, 1919, at Great Lakes, Ill.

Wounded by bomb dropped from airplane October 2, 1918. In hospital in France, then returned to United States in very serious condition, with no prospect of recovery, Jan- uary 18, 1919. Assigned to hospital for treatment for paralysis which resulted from wounds inflicted by bomb.
