The California Independent
IS THE
Boldest, Freest Outspoken Journal on this Coast.
Conducted upon a basis of high moral character, it seeks to clevate the lowly, right the wrong and correct the errors and abuses of the evil-disposed, in all the walks of life. It strives to ELEVATE LABOR and adjust its relation prop- erly with its foster brother CAPITAL, believing that the two are not, and of right ought not to be antagonistic.
The California Independent is purely an American Journal
and will strive to maintain the glorious principles of the Republic unimpaired, chief among which is the FREE SCHOOL SYSTEM, asking no quarters from its enemies, and giving none. It is uncompromisingly in favor of a thorough and radical reconstruction of our NATURALIZATION LAWS; believing that this country is no longer an asylum for the paupers, criminals and infirm and impure generally of the whole world.
All who believe in these Principles are respectfully solicited to give it their support. Subscription $3.00 a year.
