Napa City, NAPA COUNTY.
Situated on a river of the same name, 46 miles from San Francisco, reached by the California Pacific Railroad, in a beautiful valley where large quantities of fine wine are produced. It has at pres- cnt a population of about 4,000 and is growing in importance; it is well adapt- ed for manufactories, of which there are several, as the railroad runs through the town, and vessels ply continually be- tween there and San Francisco. Stages to Sonoma, Knoxville and other places run daily. A branch of the State Insane Asylum, a handsomo building, is in the neighborhood. It is the county seat and has excellent schools and society.
