Copperopolis, CALAVERAS COUNTY,
Is situated in . a rich mining district, whose productions are confined almost exclusively to copper ore, 126 miles from San Francisco, via Stockton and Cop- peropolis Division of the Central Pacific Railroad and the stage line of Messrs. Matteson & Co. from Milton, from which it is distant about 15 miles. The lack of demand for the mineral resulted in the exodus of its residents, until it became a "mere shadow " of its former self. At an early period it was a bustling town, and its future was full of bright promise. The population is placed at 125, and the town contains several places of commerce and manu- facture. It has a daily mail and ex- press.
