White & M' John Whitney take Effectual Care that that the Stocks be forth with mended. Agre'd that Mr Benjn. Haftings be Defired to take the care of the Great Bridge this prefent Year to mend the Same as y" may be Occation and to keep Acct thereof and Lay his Acct before ye Selectmen.
[78] At a Meeting of the Selectmen at the Widw. Mary Learneds on the 19th. Day of April AD. 1751.
At this Meeting Capt. John Brown of Waltham, one of the former Surveyers & Collecters of Watertown in the Years 1741. & 1742. Gave An Acct. to the Selectmen of His proceeding in Thofe Offices in sd. Years. As to the firft Years Lift Committed to Him to Collect or Work out, That it was all work't Out Except three Men Deceafd and two that were gone out of the Town.
And as to His Second Years Lift There were abot. Thirty Pounds old Tenor not work't out. wch He ye sd. Brown promised to ufe his Endeavour to See that it be worked out this prefent Year, Agreable to ye Vote of ye Town.
The Selectmen Ordred the Treafurer to pay the Six pounds old Tenor which M' Jonathan Bemis paid into the Treafurey for his Pew in the Meeting houfe, to Jonas Coollidge it being Due to the Estate of m' Ebenezer Thornton, Deceafsed He having paid Eleazor Biglow for sd. Pew. Or Difcount the Bond Due from sd Thorntons Estate to the Town with the Intreft Due thereupon which Principal and Intreft together Amounts to five pounds thirteen & 5d old Tenor and Six fhillings and Seven pence out of the Intreft that arofe upon the Land Sold this Day by ye Selectmen to sd Jonas Coollidge.

To Elect & Depute one Perfon to Reprefent ye Town at a great & Gen1 Afsembly appointed to be held & kept for His Majestys Service at ye Court houfe in Boston on the 29th of May Inftant.
Upon a Motion made & Seconded a Previous Vote was put vizt. Whether it is the mind of ye Town to Choofe a Perion to Reprefent them at the General Court-And the Vote paft in the Affirmative. .
Another Motion was made and Seconded viz. that the follwing Previous Vote might be put vizt.

The Selectmen upon the Requeft of Cornelious Waldo to be a Retailer of Strong Lickers in the Houfe where he now lives The Selectmen Approbated Him to be a Retailer, and Recom- mended him.

The Selectmen therefore Agree to Appoint Wednesday the Twenty Eighth Day of August Currant to be the Day on which to meet on sd. Affair, and to Meet at the Houfe of Richd. The sd. Selectmen Did then Adjuft the Accts. of ye Charge of ye Great Bridge in Watertown which has Arifen Since the Adjuftmt. in Jany: 1748. and after the Acct. adjufted and proportioned, there was Due from Wefton to Watertown 3 -. 8 -. 6 Lawfull money. and from Waltham £6 =. 6 =. 4

At a Meeting of ye Selectmen at m' John Whitneys on the 8th of Octor. 1751. The Great Bridge wanting Some Repairs. Agreed to go and View sd Bridge on the fourteenth Inftant to See what is Wanting to be done.
At a Meeting of ye Selectmen on Octor. 14. 1751. The Se- lectmen View'd the Great Bridge, and finding that it wanted Confiderable Repairing. Agreed to Send to the Selectmen of Wefton & Waltham to meet the Selectmen of Watertown at the Widw. Mary Learneds on the 21 Day of Octor. Currant in Order to a further View of sd. Bridge and See what is Necessary to be done.
At a Meeting of ye Selectmen of Watertown Wefton & Wal- tham on the 21 of Octor. 1751 at Mrs. Mary Learneds. Agreed by ye sd Selectmen that there be Timber & Plank provided, Sufficient to Repair the great Bridge, Alfo agreed and Chofe Mr Dan1 Whitney of Watertown M' Jonas Smith of Waltham & M' Lampfon of Wefton to be a Comtee. to provide Meterals and to See the work of Repairing Sd Bridge done.
At a Meeting of ye Selectmen at the Houfe of Cap". Nath1. Coollidge on the 6th Day of Decembr. 1751. At Said Meeting ye Selectmen Signed Several Orders to the Town Treafurer. vizt. An Order to pay thofe perfons the Town is indebted to Amounting to £20=12 =. 814. An Order to pay M' John Coollidge jun" £3 =. 9 =. 4. An Order to pay to the Revd. M' Seth Storer £30 in part of his Salary for this prefent Year And an Order to pay to Lt. Daniel Whitney the Sum of £10. to help pay for things procured by ye Selectmen for M' Sam! Coollidge prefent School- mafter, and to be Acctd. in part for his ye sd Coollidge keeping the School. The Widw. Grover undr. her poor Circumftances wanting Some Relief Refpecting fire wood Agreed that a Load of wood be procured for her at ye Towns Coft.
