[302] At a Meeting of ye Selectmen at ye Houfe of Mr Abijah Learned on the 16th Day of April 1766 - They Agreed that m': Jonas White Notify m': Ephraim Wheeler to Return the Child that he had Taken from ye wido Murch's forthwith as it is thot: ye Mother of sd Child is about to gitt a way & leave it to be maintained by the Town and to lett said Wheeler know that if he Neglects to Return it ye Selectmen are Determined to proceed with him as ye law Directs in Such case-Alfo it was Agreed that M': Jonas White & Jonathan Brown Apply to Samuel Livermore Esq': for a Warrant to Re- move one Mary Bath & her Infant Child to Boston it being ye last place of her Abode-Mr. Moses Stone was Defired to go to ye wido Murches & Inquire from whence a Child which is at her Houfe came from last and its name alfo to carry a Letter to Capt : Nathaniel Coollidge which was Signed by Selectmen Defiring him forthwith to Send any woman or women which are at his houfe out of town and a Child which is at ye wido: Murches which She Says Came from sd: Coollidges-And the Selectmen being In- formed that Samuel Coollidge was in great want of a Coat they Agreed yt: m': Jonathan Bemis Ju': or m': Jonas White provide Some good Strong Cloath &c to make him one Likewife mr Jonas White was defired to Speak to m' Bezaleel Learned forthwith to Mend Some holes that were in the Bridge at this Meeting m': John Sawin Sent in a Notification to acquaint ye Selectmen that he had on ye : 31 day of March Last Received a Boy from Woburn into his Family Named Jonathan Larabee

The Selectmen being Prefent the Votes being Called for and brot: in were Sorted and Counted it Appeared that m': Daniel Whitney was Chofen Representative for ye town by the Major Part of ye Voters then prefent


The Selectmen meet Near the land of m' David Sanger at the Corner near Treadways Bridge So Called and Staked out a Small peice of Land agreable to the Vote of the town at their meeting on ye: 19: day of May last Said peice of land is about ten feet in width in or near ye middle & Sloaps a way So as to Interfect his wall

low State of Health and Directed m': Child to take the Best Care of her that he Could and provide Watchers for her as Need Shall Require and that he A gitt Some Nefsecarys to Entertain Such as take care of her in the Night at m' Jonas White's at the town's Cost and Agreed that m' Child Shall have a proper allowance for his Extraordinary Trouble


And the Selectmen being Informed that m': Samuel Nutting had taken in a Stranger a woman to Lyin at his Houfe and had not Notified the Selectmen thereof as the law Directs They or- dered the Clerk to Send to him to lett him know that Unlefs he came to their next meeting and took Some care to Secure the town they Should proceed as the law provides in Such Cases- Alfo It was Agreed that m': Jonas White & m' Jona: Bemis Ju' go to John Hunt Esq': & See and Inquire into the Circum- ftances of Sarah Learned and Report at their next meeting- Likwife it was agreed that the Treafurer Endeavor to git the Bill of Cost Taxt which was Recovered againft the Town of Boston as Soon as may be- The Selectmen Agreed to meet again on Wedenfday come Sevent : at m' Jonas Whites at : 5 of the Clock afternoon


[308] At a Meeting of ye Selectmen at ye Houfe of Mt : Jonas White on Wedenfday ye: 9: day of July AD 1766- It was Agreed that m': John Kemball Apply to a Justice of Peace for a Warrant to Remove Sarah Learned to Boston it being ye place to which She belongs


Alfo it was Agreed that m': Jonas White provide Some Cloath for a pair Breeches for Sam": Coollidge & bring in his Account to ye Selectmen at their Next meeting

They Agreed to have a Town-Meeting on the 22 day of ye Prefent month of August at the Publick-Meeting-Houfe at three of ye Clock in the afternoon to Act on the following Articles (Viz) First to Choofe a Moderator for sd: meeting-


(2) To know the minde of the town whether they will Receive the wido. Boyington and her Children as Inhabitants of Water- town or whether they will Try the matter in the law with the town of Weston and grant money therefor and Act any thing Relating thereto as they may think Proper-


(3) To know the minde of the whether they will Confent to make good the Damages that Perticular Gentlemen in the town of Boston Suftained in the late Difturbances and to give their Reprefentative Such Inftructions Relating thereto as they may think proper-

Put to Vote whether the town will Try ye Matter Relating to the wido Mary Boyington & her Children being Inhabitants of Watertown with the town of Weston and it paft in the Negative


Then it was put to vote whether the town will put of ye Difpute Relating to m' Edmund Fowls being Chargeable with ye Said wido Mary Boyington & her Children till Next meeting and it Paft in the Affeirmative


Then it was Voted yt the Selectmen put out the Children till they Come of age as Cheap as they Can-Then the third article was Read and it was put to vote whether the town do Confent to make good the lofes as mentioned therein & it past in the Negative


[310] At a Meeting of ye Selectmen of Watertown Weston & Waltham at ye Houfe of m': Wm- Goodhue in Waltham on first day of Sepr: Anno Domini 1766 The accounts of Repairing ye Great Bridge in Watertown which had arifen Since ye last adjustment which was on ye Second Day of Sepr: Anno Domini 1765 ammounting to ye Sum of £"14"5"2 farthings was Ad- justed and Proportioned and Signed by ye Selectmen of Each town then Prefent

They Approbated mifsur. Thomas Saltmarfh & Abijah Learned & Edward Richardfon to be Inholders and John Hunt Esq' & mifsrs Cornelius Waldo Jonas White & Nathaniel Coollidge to be Retailors


At this meeting they Ordered the Clerk to Issue out a war- rant to warn Abijah Learned & Abigail his wife & Mary & Abigail their Daughters & Nathaniel their Son out of town who Came last from Cambridg in ye month of Nov' : or December last past At a Meeting of ye Selectmen at ye Houfe of m' Edward Richardfon on ye 19 day of Sep': Anno: Domini 1766-


They agreed to Binde the Daughter of ye wido Mary Boying- ton to m' Ebenezer Stone Jun' till She is eighteen years of age & he to have eight pounds with her and he to take her the next day alfo to he is to Board Sd: widos Son for ye Prefent as Cheap as he can-


[311] At this meeting ye Selectmen Signed an order on ye Treafurer to pay m' Mofes Stone ye Sum of £1 : 1 : 4 for ye Gloves which procured for ye wido Lydia Warrins funeral alfo the Sum of £12"6=1 to M' Caleb Prentifs it being in full of what is due to him for his Service for keeping School in Water- town-
