They also did agree with Jedidiah Leathe for him to Improve the Hay Scales one year from the ninth day of this present month he paying therefor four pounds ten Shillings to be in Quarterly payments but upon failure in him the agreement to be Void, they also appointed him Surveyor & Weigher of Hay during the term aforementioned

mr Sawin Made Application to have his Tax in m' Jedidiah Leathes list, formerly Henry Bradfhaws abated as he Said he had Paid it to Sd Bradfhaw - Whereupon it was Voted that if Said Sawin would procure a Certificate from Mr Bradfhaw Sworn to before a Justice of ye peace Setting-forth that the tax's had been paid to him the Said Bradfhaw while he was a Collector, Then the Sd. tax Should be abated.

(3) To Choofe a Saxton & agree how he Shall be paid for his Service (4) To Determin whether Swine Shall run at large the enfueing year. (5) To give in their Votes for a County Treafurer. (6) to agree what Schools Shall be kept, and Grant money to Support the Same, and act anything thereon they may think proper. (7) To grant money to Support the poor. (8) To Grant money to repair the Great Bridge, and act any thing relating thereto they may think proper. (9) To Grant money to repair the Highways, and act any thing relating thereto they See fit. They proceeded to Inquire whether the Town officers were compleated. and being informed they were not Mefsrs Joshua Grant & Jonas Bond ju' at their Request were Excufed from Serving as Wardens the present year and Mefsrs Mofes Hager & Jona Coollidge Godding were Chofen in their room


The tythingmen were not Excufed


Then the Committee to Consider the abatement of Tax's made a report of a Number they thought Should be abated and of others they Judged Should be Sufpended for the present


Samuel Jenifon asked for an allowance for Boarding &c for his Daughter Child. and it was Voted to allow him 1/6 pr week to A the time the Selectmen took up the Matter. his tax's and what he has received to be part -


Then they took into consideration an account of Dr Marfhall Springs and after Debate thereon. it was moved that the Con- sideration thereof be put off to the Adjournment of the Meeting - and the Meeting was Adjourned to Monday Next 4 O Clock afternoon at this place

At a Publick Town Meeting held at the Meeting Houfe on the thirteenth Day of April AD: 1789. By adjournment.


Wm Hunt Esq': being Moderator the Meeting being Opened They proceeded. and took into consideration relating to pro- cureing ammunition for Militia and after Debate thereon they pafsed the followin Vote. (Viz). That Colo Christopher Grant, m' Amos Livermore be a Committee to enquire into the Quantity of Powder & Ball and Flints now on hand belonging to the town and if their is not a Sufficient Quantity for the Supply of the Train-band alarm list Horfe and Artilery over and above the town Stock then to purchafe a quantity adaquate to answer the above purpofes which is to remain the property of the Town, but Subject So farr to the ufe of Said Companies, as the Same may be returned as their Supply agreable to the Militia act, but not to be Dilivered out but by Special order of the Selectmen. - Then a letter or Remonftrance from a Number of perfons of the Baptift perfwation was read and after Debate thereon it was voted that it lye for the present.


Then the following Accounts for Services don &c were read (Viz) To m' Jedidiah Leathe for Irons &c for one of the Towns ploughs which amounted to the Sum of - 0" 19" 1


To the Selectmen for expences the last year 5" 9"7 To Colo Amos Bond for Service as afsefsor last year 1 " 16 " 0 To m' Samuel White for do 1 " 16 "0


To Jona Brown as Treafurer & Afsefsor last year 8" 2"0


To Dr Marfhall Spring for Service as Physician 6" 4"0


&c for attendance on Elizabeth Warren


The whole amounting to the Sum of - £ 24" 6"8


which Sum was Voted & Granted to pay ye Same -


Dr Springs other accounts of 6" 2" 0 was refered to the Select- men to Determin upon

At a Meeting of the Selectmen on Monday the 27th -. Day of april AD: 1789. at the Houfe of L' : Samuel Wellington -- They Agreed to have a Town Meeting on Monday the fourth Day of May Next to Choofe a Representative to Serve in the General Court the year enfueing and Directed the Clerk to Issue out Warrants to the Constables to warn the Quallified Voters to meet at the Meeting Houfe on Monday the 4th- Day of May afternoon for that purpofe


Next at two O Clock A Warrants were Issued Accordingly. By Jona: Brown Town- Clerk


At a Meeting of the freeholders and other Inhabitants of Water- town afsembled at the Meeting Houfe on Monday the. 4th. Day of May AD: 1789. for the Choice of a Representative to Serve in the Great and General Court the year enfueing. They Chofe Colº: Amos Bond.
