At a Meeting of the Selectmen on Wednesday ye 20th day of March 1782 at the Houfe of m' : Mathew Fairfervice they ordered the Clerk to Issue out Warrants Directed to the Constables to Warn the freeholders & other Inhabitants Quallified agreable to the Constitution to Afsemble at the Meeting Houfe on monday the first Day of April at one O: Clock in the afternoon to Put in their Votes for a Governor Leiut Governor & Senator, they also agreed to have an other meeting at the Same place the Same day at 3 O: Clock afternoon to act on the following Articles (Viz) First to Choofe a moderator of the Meeting


(2) To Choofe any town officers in the Room of Such as Refufe to Serve &c


(3) To know the minde of the town whether they will dismifs the Committee that were Chosen & appointed on the 18th day of March Inftant to Petition the General Court for part of Newton and to Act any thing thereon they think proper


(4) To know the minde of the town Whether they will do any thing Relating to the fenceing the Minifterial Place, and make Such a grant of money as they think Proper. and to Choofe a Committee to Settle accounts with the Revd mr Eliot and to Determin when his yearly Sallary in futer Shall begin and act anything on the affair that may be thot proper -

also Refpecting a reconveyance of Said Estate to Said Stearnes ; are of Opinion that the town reconvey to said Stearnes Said Estate upon his paying the Town the moneys paid by them for Said Estate with the Interest thereof, and that the moneys now in the Hands of the Guardians (being the Same paid by the town) be Received as part of the Sum paid by the town for Said Estate; That any Rents Received by the town be Confidered as part towards the Interest to be Estimated according to the Value at the time of Payment, Agreable to the Scale of Depreciation,

At a Publick Town-Meeting of the freeholders & other In- habitants of Watertown Quallified to Vote in town affairs Reg- ularly Afsembled at the meeting Houfe in sd: town on Thursday the 25th day of July 1782 -

Then the 2d article was Read and after Debate thereon on a motion made and Seconded - it was Voted that the town will Give three per Cent for Collecting the Prefent Continential Tax Voted that William Warrin & David Stone Constables be allowed 11/2 per Cent upon Collecting the Continential Tax now afsefsed in addition to the 11/2 formerly Voted for the Collecting of Tax's


Voted that they give Bonds to the Town-Treafurer with Sufficient Suretys to the Acceptance of the Selectmen within ye present week Then upon a motion it was Voted so far to Reconfider the fore- going Vote as to Release David Stone from Collecting any Part of sd: Tax and that William Warrin Collect the whole provided he give Bond as above=mentioned

Voted that the Selectmen Prepare a Subicription to be Exhibeted to theInhabitants of the town by the Constable when he goes to Collect the Tax's -


Then the meeting was adjourned to monday next at this place at 5 O Clock afternoon But as there Appeared that there was not any thing Necessary to be don the meeting was Dropt


At a Meeting of the Selectmen at mrs Coollidges on ye 22d day of Augt: 1782 they Signed an order on the Treafurer to pay the following accounts (Viz)
