the 4th Article being Read and after Debate thereon they voted that Lt: William Warrin who is one of the Constables Shall Collect the State or Continential Tax now ordered to be made and that he Shall have two & 34 Pr Cent for his Service

They Agreed to have the Publick Annual Town-Meeting on Monday the 3d Day of March Next at nine O:Clock in the forenoon at the Meeting Houfe and ordered the Clerk to Issue out Warrants Directed to the Con- stables to Warn the Inhabitants who are Quallified to vote in town affairs to afsemble at sd: time and Place for the following Purpofes (Viz) First to Choofe a Moderator 2ª To Choofe Selectmen Town-Clerk and all other town officers Re- quired to be Chofe in the Month of March Anually. (3d) To Choofe a Saxton and Agree how he Shall be paid for his Service (4) To Determin Whether Swine Shall Run at Large ye enfueing year. (5) To put in their votes for a County Treafurer. (6) To Agree what Schools Shall be kept and grant money to Support the Same, and act any thing Relating thereto they think Proper. (7) To Grant money to Support ye poor. They Agreed with m' Mofes Coollidge to Collect the East lists of Town Rates for 3 Pr Cent - and with m' Francis Brown to Collect the West list of toun Rates for 5 P Cent. - and with mr David Stone to Collect ye East lists of Publick Rates for 11/2 P Cent, and with Lt William Warrin to Collect the West lists of Publick Tax's for 2 Pr Cent, they giving good Security as above mentioned, Then they Voted that the Premium be added to the Several lists by the Afsefsors


Then after Choofing Constables they Proceed and Chofe two Collectors of ye town Rates - (Viz) m' Francis Brown & m Mofes Coollidge

At a meeting of the Selectmen at Francis Marfhall: on monday the the 31 Day of march AD 1783. - They Directed the Clerk to Issue out Warrants directed to the Constables to Warn Such 1 of the Inhabitants as are Quallified to Vote in the Choice of Governors & Senators to afsemble at the meeting Houfe on Monday the Seventh day of April next at two OClock in the afternoon to give in their Votes for Governors and Sentors also to Warn Such of the Inhabitants as are Quallified to Vote in town affairs to meet 3 O Clock afternoon on Same day at the meeting Houfe for the following Purpofes (Viz)


First to Choofe moderator of ye meeting - (2) To hear the Re- port of the Committee appointed to Examin the Treafurers ac- counts and to act thereon as See fit: - (3) To Choofe any town officers in the Room of Such as Refust to Serve - (4) For the the town to Agree upon What Steps Shall be taken Relating to the Support of Mary Stearnes and to act thereon as they See fit. (5) For the town to agree upon Some method to Discharge the Debts they owe to Sundry perfons & act any thing Relating there- to they think proper; (6) To do any thing Relating to the Re- pairs of the Great Bridge that they think Necefsary (7) To hear the Reports of Any Committees and Act thereon as they think best : (8) To make any further Grants of Money for any Pertic- ular Services as they may Judge Necefsary -


Warrants were Issued out Accordingly -

At the above meeting ye Selectmen Signed an order on the Town Treafurer to pay the Sum of £ 35 Pounds to ye Revd m': Eliot which make up the whole of his Salary for the Prefent year - They also Signed an order to pay the Several perfons afternamed ye Sums Set against their names it being for Services at the Great Bridge (Viz)

At a Publick Town Meeting of the Inhabitants of Watertown who are Quallified to Vote in the Choice of Governor & Senators held at the meeting Houfe on monday ye 7th Day of April 1783. - The Selectmen being Prefent the Votes Were Called for. for a Governor and being brot in Counted & Sorted it Appeared that His Excellency John Hancock Esq': had 29 Votes
