Voted that the by Law referring to horfes made Laft Year be Confirmed for this Year. vizt. That no perfon or perfons Shall Suffer their horfes or horfe kind above the Age of Six months to Run at Large with in the Limmetts of Watertown without their being well fettred from the first Day of April next to ye Laft day of October following under the penalty or forfiture of Two fhillings and six pence for evry one found without fetters.

There being wanting to Compleat the Town's Stock of Pow- der and Ball According to Law vizt better than a Barrel of pow- der of Ball abt. 200 1b The Selectmen Agred and Defired Joseph Mason Esq" & Mr Oliver Livermore (Two of ye Select- men) to take the Money paid to the Selectmen of ye powder Rate &c. and purchafe so much Powder and ball as is wanting to Compleat the Towns Stock and if there be Money wanting of ye above Collection, that the Town Treafurer is ordred to pay what is wanting out of ye Town Treafury and that an Acct of yr proceedings be Laid before ye Selectmen at y" Next Meeting.
Whereas Mr Joseph Child who has had the Care of ye Town's Ammunifion for a long time is Defireous that an other place may be provided. defired that Mifsrs. Jonas Bond and Ebenez' Stone to go to Capt Joseph Coollidge to se whether they could prevail with him to Let it be put into his Mill houfe Chamber that being a Convenant and Safe place from Danger.

That they (with ye Afsistance of m' Jonas Bond) have purchafed one Barrel of Powder of 113 lb with the Cask at fifty five pounds old Tenner. In Obfervance of sd Preceipt the Selectmen Ordred the Clerk To Isue out Warrants to the Conftables of said Town to Warn the Freeholders and other Inhabts. of sd Town with in their Refpective Diftricts who are Quallified to Vote in ye Choice of a Reprefentative, To Afsemble and Meet at ye Publick Meeting houfe in sd Town on Wednesday the 14th. day of May Currant at three of ye Clock afternoon Then and there to Elect & Depute one meet perfon to Serve for and Reprefent them in a great and General Court or Afsembly Appointed to be Convened held & kept for his Majesty's Service at the Court houfe in Boston on the 28th. Andrew & Wife to Depart out of Watertown.

June 30 1746: At a meeting of ye selectmen at D Coollidges. The prions Approbated ye Laft Year were this. the Selectmen agre'd that M' Benjn. Haftings be defired to take ye care of ye Great Bridge this year. Agre'd to meet on ye 14th of July at Mrs. Learneds 3 clock to take care abot ye great Bridge & Defired ye Clark to Notify ye Selectmen of Wefton & Waltham to meet wth them at ye time & place.

And there being A Necefsefsity of Rebuilding the North Peer of sd Bridge. Agre'd to Rebuld the Same, but in the following Manner vizt. Instead of having King Posts &c above the Bridge to have a Mudcell Supporters and braces Underneath. Agreed to have a Mudcell Thirty Eight feet in Length and a foot Square of good black oak. A good Cap piece of 22 feet Long and a foot Square of good white Oake. Alfo Two good white Oak braces of Twelve feet long and 8 and 10 Inches. four Posts or Supporters 10 feet Long and a foot Square 2 of them to be New, Alfo that there be procured 2 Cap pieces, posts and braces for ye North and South Sides of Sd Peer (the old ones being suppofed to be Rotton) Of ye Same Dementions of ye old ones Agreed to pro- cure one Long String piece for sd peer one New one being all ready provided. Agreed yt ye Selectmen of Watertown procure Sd String piece. The Selectmen of Wefton procure the Mudcell abovesd the Three Cappieces and the 2 New posts or Supporters abovesd.

Whatelfe may be wanted it is propofed to Improve the old Stuff. Agreed that the Timber be procured and Laid at ye sd Bridge by the firft of Sep". Next.
At a Meeting of the Selectmen of Watertown Weiton & Waltham On the 16th Day of Sepr. 1746. at the Widw. Learneds in Watertown. In Order to take Effectual Care for the Repair- ing off or New Errecting the Northerly peer of ye Great Bridge over Charles River in Watertown Agre'd that Mr Ebenezer Stone Mr Nath1. Walker and Mr Jonan Stratton Should be the work- men to Do the Carpentree work and to proceed abot the work forth with, and in order to further the work, Agree'd that the Selectmen of ye Three Towns or So many of them as can Con- veniantly Come, To meet on Munday Next at the sd Bridge with the workmen Abovesd. to take up the Bridge in order to Examine the Timbers to Se what may do again, and to Se what is further Wanting. And the Selectmen of Each Town Endeavour to procure some good hands to Afsist abot Laying of ye Mudcells and other Waterwork and that ye Selectmen of Watertown procure Stones to Lay on the Ends of the Mudcells.
At a Meeting of ye Selectmen of Watertown at Mrs. Learneds in Order to take care of ye old Plank and to Difpofe of ye Old Tim- ber belonging to ye Bridge. The old plank was all Carryed into Mrs. Learneds Yard and stict up with wt was there before. The old Timber that was fit for nothing but the fire was Sold to James Dix (he being ye higeft bidder) for Thirty Shillings old Tener. The Remainder was Sold to Benjamin Haftings for Thirty Shillings old Ten".
The Selectmen Ordred the Clerk to Isue out a Warrant to the Conftables To warn One Sarah Cornifh Alias Sarah Bemis to Depart out of Watertown who Came from Waltham abt. the 17th of Feby. Laft paft the Selectmen Refufing to Accept of her to be an Inhabt. in Watertown.

To know the Mind of ye Town whether the High ways and Town way shall be mended by Rate ye Year Infuing, and if the Town Comes into this Method Then to Grant Money for sd Affair, And to Choofe the Surveyors of ye High Ways to be Collectors, to Collect the Same or to Se that it be worked out within the Year Agreeable to Such Directions as the Town may Se meet to give them.
To know the mind of ye Town how the Remander of ye Bond given to ye Widw Hannah Fiske by ye Towns Committe in yr Name with the Intereft Shall be paid and Satisfied.
For the Town to hear the Lift of juriors, And to do thereon Agreable to ye Directions in ye Law in that behalf made & pro- vided.

[11] For the Town to take Some proper Meafures to pre- ·vent the Drawing of Timber over the great Bridge in ye Town without Carriages which practice is found to be very prejudical to ye Bridge, as alfo the drawing of Timbers into the River above and below the Bridge on the Southerly Side of sd River which tends to gull and tare down sd Bank and So prove prejudical to the Town.
Where as there was formerly a Grant made by ye General Court of 1500 Acres of Medow to Watertown wch has Not Yet been Satisfied. And where as Watertown together with Wefton & Waltham have been at a very great and burdenfome Charge in Building Repairing and Rebuilding once and Again the great Bridge over Charles River in Watertown (where by great benefit Accrews to the publick) and that the three Small Towns abovesd being Still (and like to be) Subject to a Conftant Yearly Charge of Repairing of sd Bridge, which by Long Experance ya find sd Repairs to be a growing burdinfome Charge upon them. To know the mind of the Town whether (upon the fore going Confiderations) they will Impower their Reprefentative to joine in Conjunction wth the Representatives of ye Towns of Wefton & Waltham abovesd (or Such Perfons as they may Appoint) to Petition the great and General Court for a Grant of so much of the Unappropriated Land belonging to ye Province to be made to the Sd three Towns as the Sd Court in their Wifdom Shall judge Meet and Sufficiant to be in Liew of sd Grant of Medow
