John Browns And Agre'd with him to board M' Samuel Coollidge our prefent Schoolmafter (Mr Whitneys Circumftances being Such that He refufed to board him any longer) till further order of ye Selectmen and to take him ye sd. Coollidge ye Twenty forth of this Inftant, and to be paid therefor out of what is or may become due to sd Collidge for keeping the School, the Sum of Six Shillings P week, for wch. ye sd. Brown Confented to Board him.


The Selectmen having been Served with a Copy of a Petition of A Committee of ye firft Parifh in Cambridge who petition ye General Court in behalf of sd Parifh and pray that Some of ye Eafterly Inhabts. of Watertown with their Eftates may be Annexed to sd parifh for reafons Set forth in sd. Petition, and ye sd Court having Appointed the 26th. of this Inftant for any Concerned to give reafons why the prayer of sd. petition be not Granted. In as much as what is pray'd for by the Parifh aforesd very much Affects Watertown the Selectmen judging it is moft proper & Necessary to Lay the Matter before the Town; Accordingly Ordred the Clerk to Isue out Warrants Directed to ye Conftables of Watertown forthwith to Warn the freeholders and other Inhabts. of Watertown to met at the Publick Meeting houfe in Watertown on Munday the 24th. of this Inftant at one of ye Clock afternon for ye Ends following vizt .-

To hear and take into Confideration the Petition of ye firft Parish in Cambridge preferred to ye Great & General Court (a Copy of wch Pet". the Selectmen have been Served with) wherein ye sd Parifh by y' Committee pray that Several of ye Inhabts. of ye Eafterly part of Watertown with their Eftates may be Annexed to ye sd. firft Parifh in Cambridge, as set forth in the Copy of sd. But Since the Country Road in the Eaft Diftrict Is under prefentment, and it is thought that ye proportion of ye Grant for mending the Ways that may be afsign'd to ye Eaft Surveyer will not be Sufficient to mend ye ways So as to save the prefentmt. Affair ye Selectmen Agreed That m' Whitney Surveyer of ye Wefterly District Should work out Two pounds 13/4 (Lawfull money) of His Rate, in the Eaft Diftrict in the High way yt is under Prefentmt. And that the Afsefsors in the Warrant they give to Surveyer Whitney Order the Same Accordingly .-


Capt. John Taynter brought in his Acct. of what he had pro- vided for ye Widw. Webb amounting to thirteen Shillings and five pence, wch. ye Selectmen Allowed .-


Chriftopher Grant brought in his Acct. of Boarding ye Widw. Mary Maddocks Twenty two Weeks at 4/P week he gave Credit for 4/2. Ballance Due to sd. Grant is £4 ==. 3=10. wch Acct. the Selectmen Alowed.


The Selectmen Agre'd wth. Capt. John Taynter to board the Widw. Webb for one Year from the Second of this Inftant (if she Survive) at (24 Pr week old Ten") 3/2 14 Pr week. to be paid by the Town, and to be Allowed Reafonable Satisfaction for Ex- traordinary Charge if any should Happen. to which Agremt Mr Taynter Confented.

[115] At a General Town Meeting of the freeholders and other Inhabts. of the Town of Watertown Quallified to Vote in the Choice of a Representative Regulerly Afsembled on the 13 Day of May 1754 at the place where the Meeting houfe was burt.


The Major part of the Selectmen being Prefent, The Vote was Called for to be brot. in for ye Choice of a Perfon to Reprefent the Town at a Great and General Afsembly Appointed to be Con- vened at ye Court Houfe in Boston on the 29th. of this Inftant .- After the Votes were brot in, Sorted and Numbred it Appeared that Mr John Hunt was Chofen to represent the Town at Said Afsembly.
