At a meeting of the Selectmen on the Day of march AD. 1786. They Ordered the Clerk to Issue out a Warrant to the Constable to warn all the freeholders & other Inhabitants of Watertown who are Quallified to Vote (agreable to the Constitution) in the Choice of Governor Lt: Governor & Senators to Afsemble at the Publick Meeting Houfe in Said town on monday the 3d Day of April Next at two O Clock in the afternoon to give in their Votes for a Governor & Lt Governor & five Senators for the County of middlefex - also to warn all the Inhabitants of Sd: Town who are Quallified to vote in town affairs to meet the Same Day at the Same Place at three O Clock afternoon to Act on the fol- lowing Articles (Viz) First to Choofe a Moderator of the Meet- ing. (2) To Choofe any town officers in the Room of any that Neglect or Refuse to Serve (3) To hear the acctts- of thofe Per- fons the town is Indebted to and grant money to pay ye Same (4) To know the Minds of the town whether they will Choofe a Committee for providing School masters for the two Schools and act thereon as they think Expedient. and Whether they will grant any further Sums of money for Schools this year. (5) To know the minde of the town whether they will further Profecute a Petition to the Court of Sefsions for Altering the County Road Near Treadways Bridge and to act thereon as may be Judged best. They Signed an order on the Treafurer to Pay the Sum of £ 5" 6" 11 To the Collector of tax's in the town of Cambridge for the Tax's Afseft on the Houfe and Land in Cambridge that was Improved by James Hay & others by order of the Selectmen of Watertown in the years 1780 & 1781

The Comtte- aforeSaid Sold a Peice of Land to m' Richardfon (Bounded Westerly on his homeftead and on every other point on the highways for twelve Pounds. which he hath paid to the treafurer, They also Sold a peice of Land to m' Wm Stone con- taining a few Rods for which he hath given his note to the Town Treafurer for twenty Shillings Sd: Committee also lett the Island below the Corn Mill To M' Faulkner for twenty Shillings a year for three years (which Leafe is now Expired) for which M' Faulkner hath lately given his note of hand to the Treafurer.

Day of April AD. 1786 at m': Samuel Wellingtons they Agreed to have a Town Meeting on the Eighth Day of May Next at two O Clock in the afternoon at the meeting Houfe for the Choice of a perfon to Represent the town in the General Court the enfueing year. - They also Agreed to have an other Town Meeting of the Qualli- fied Voters to Vote in town affairs to be held the Same Day at the Same Place at three O Clock in the afternoon to act on the following articles (Viz) First to Choofe a Moderator of the Meeting

At a Meeting of ye Selectmen at Majr: Mellens on the 29th- Day of may 1786 Mr Nathaniel Ruggles Sent in an account for Keeping School from Feby 27th 1786 to May ye 29th following and for Supplying the School with wood amounting in the whole to ye Sum of £ 16"10"8 which the Selectmen - ye Treafurer to pay


Nath1 Ruggles Whitney Notified the Selectmen that on the 28th Day of April 1786. he received into his Family in Watertown on Sufanna Wendal who was Born at Chelmsford but last from Wesford or Boston. her Circumftances not mentioned.

At a Meeting of the Selectmen on Monday the 19th- Day of June 1786 at the Houfe of Major Thos: Mellens. They Signed an order on the Town-Treafurer to pay the Sum of Sixteen pounds ten fhilling and eight pence to m' Nath1: Ruggles Whitney in full of his account for keeping School the year past also to pay Mr Samuel White one pound three fhillings and five pence in full of his Account for Cloathing for Mary Boyington


And to Pay the Sum of Six Pounds ninteen Shillings to Jedidiah Learned in full of his account for Boarding the widow Whitney and Abigail Hay to the fifth Day of June Inftant

Mellens They having recd a letter from one John Nutting Chairman of Some Comtte. met Groton on ye 29 Day of June last desireing the Same might be laid before the town There- fore the Selectmen Directed the Clerk to Issue out a Warrant directed to ye Constable to warn the freeholders & other In- habitants of Watertown who are Quallified to vote in town affairs to meet at the Meeting Houfe in Said town on Monday the 14th- Inftant at 5 O: Clock afternoon to take Said letter into Consideration and to act thereon as they think best. a Warrant was Issued accordingly. and the Inhabitants afsembled at Said time and Place. - and Chofe Wm- Hunt Esq. Moderator. who read Said Letter and after considering the Contents it was was Voted not to act any thing thereon. the Meeting was Defolved.

At a Publick Town Meeting of the freeholders & other Inhabitants of Watertown met at the Meeting Houfe on monday the 14th- Day of Augt: 1786 according to Adjourn- ment. William Hunt Esq': being Moderator The meeting was Opened and the (5th) article in the Warrant read Relating to the lottery and after Debate thereon, and hearing ye purpofals of Some Perfons Read relating to the repairing the Bridge &c. it was moved that a Committee of five Perfons might be appointed to Confur with the other towns concerned in the Support of the Bridge and See what they will do relating to the aforesaid purpofals or in any other way to accomplifh the Widening & repairing the Bridge. At a Publick Town Meeting held at the Meeting Houfe on Mon- day the ninth Day of Oct": 1786 by Adjournment. Wm- Hunt Esq' the moderator being abfent. m': David Sanger was Chofen e to y lottery


Moderator in his room - Then the article relating A was taken into Confideration and the the Committee Appointed to Confer with the Committees of Weston, & Waltham & endavor to obtain a true State of the tickets that were Sold informed that they had not obtained a Real State thereof. and after Debate thereon they Voted that the Managers of the lottery be desired to Collect all
