At Said Meeting they Settled the Destricts of ye Surveyors of the Highways as follows (Viz) m': Mofes Stones to be the Country from Cambridge line below m': Edward Richardfons to m' John Remingtons, and the Roads South of the River, and Jenifons Lane and the lane from sd: Stones to the Publick Road by Nathan Coollidges, and the North Publick Road from Richardfons to Vilas and the lane Called Parrys lane - and also to work Four pounds Lawfull money under the Rocks.


Mr: Richard Clarks District to be from the Corner by Joseph Wellingtons the Road over Kings Common to the Road by Kem- balls Corner at the foot of the meeting House Hill (so Called) and the Publick Road from thence to Vilas and also Mafons and Goddings & Chenerys Lanes


M': Thomas Wellingtons Destrict to be the Country Road from m": John Remingtons to Waltham line and the Road by Dirty- green and Capt: Tainters lane as far up as his Houfe - and also to work out the Sum of five pounds under the Rocks. The Selectmen haveing Received a Precept from the Sheriff of the County of middlefex for the Purpose hereafter mentioned, They ordered the Clerk to Issue out warrants Directed to ye Several Constables to warn all ye freeholders & other Inhabitants of Watertown who are Quallified to Vote in the Choice of a Representative to afsemble and meet at the Publick meeting House on monday ye 17th Day of may Currant at two of ye Clock af- ternoon to Choof a Suitable Person to Represent them in a Great & General Court or afsembly appointed to be held & kept for his Majesty's Service at the Court Houfe in Boston on Wednesday the twenty-Sixth Day of this Inftant month of may. They also Agreed to have an other Meeting the Same Day and at the Same place at 3 of ye Clock afternoon and ordered the Clerk to Direct the Constables to warn all the freeholders and other In- habitants of sd: town who are Quallified to Vote in town affairs to meet at Said time & place for ye Ends following (Viz) First to Choofe a moderator for Said meeting - Secondly To Hear the Report of ye Committe appointed to Examin the Treafurers ac- counts and to act thereon as they See fitt.

Then ye (3) article was Read - and the town Voted that John Draper have Liberty to Continue & keep up his Wall or fence against ye River where it was when he purchafed the Land of William Sanger. -


The (4) article being Read after Some Debate thereon the town Voted to make Some alterations in their first Inftructions


Voted that the pews to be Built Should not go acrofs the Little alley & that the two Hinde Seats may be Removed two Inches forward & the fore Seat one Inch So as to make five Inches in the whole. and that the floor be laid the Same height as those behinde ym


Voted that the Committe appointed to Build sd: pews proceed to and git Said work don, by the first monday in August next ~ Voted that Said Committe make Sale of Said pews to ye Highest Bider as before Directed giveing Notice of Said Sale both as to time & place Seafonably beforehand the purchafer to be an In- habitant of the town. -

At a Meeting of the Selectmen on Monday ye. 12th. Day of July AD 1773. at the House of m': Bezaleel Learned they Signed an order on the Town-Treafurer to pay m': Benjamin Fefsenden Six Shillings in full for the use of of his Horfe & Chaife for the use of James Hay -

At a meeting of ye Selectmen on Monday ye 16th Day of August AD 1773. at the House of m': Bezaleel Learned. - They Agreed with mifsrs Simon Hastings Jonathan Learned jur & William MacCurtain to Repair the meeting House at the Rate of 4/6 pr Day for their Labour they to finde themfelves Board, and all their tools Ropes Blocks and all Nefsecary tackling only the town to pay 20/s Shilling for the use of Ropes &c: and ye Selectmen are to find all meterials = the workmen to begin as Soon as the Stuf is provided - at this meeting ye Selectmen Signed an order on ye Treafurer to pay m': John Stratton the Sum £ 11 :1 :3:2 in full for his keeping School Last year.


They also appointed a Meeting of the Selectmen of Watertown, Weston, & Waltham to be on the 30th. Day of this present month of august at 2 of ye Clock afternoon at the House of Bez11. Learned in Watertown and ordered the Clerk to notifie the Selectmen thereof-

Fourthly For the town to take into Consideration the many Evils and Difficulties this province in perticular, as well as America in General Labour under by the Importation of Teas into this province Subject to Duties laid on the Same by an act of perli- ment, and to See if the Town can come into Some Meafures to Discourage the Importation thereof, or at the last to Come into Some Refolutions that may prevent the Trade and Confumtion of that article within the Town of Watertown untill Such time as the Duty Shall be taken off the Same, and for the town to act any thing Relating thereto as they may think best, Fifthly. To See if the town will agree to Build pews in the Gal- laries in the Meeting House where the Back Seats are against ye windows, and to do any thing Relating thereto as they See fitt. - Warrants were Issued out accordingly

At a Publick Town-Meeting of the freeholders & other In- habitants of Watertown who are Quallified to Vote in town affairs Regularly afsembled on monday the third Day of January Anno: Domini 1774. at the publick Meeting House in Said Town to Tranfact Sundry affairs as Setforth in the Warrants for Said Meeting


They Voted & Chofe Dean : Samuel Fisk moderator of sd: meeting Then the Second Article Relating to the Circumftances of John Stearns being Read and after Some Debate thereon - it was Voted that the Town-Treafurer be and is hereby Impowered in the name & Behalf of the town to pay and Sattisfie, or give Security for one half of the Sum for to Sattisfie an Execution that now lies against John Stearns & Thomas Harrington in Favor of Francis Dana it being the Proper Debt of Andrew White - - also Voted that the Selectmen be desired to proceed to finde out the Circumftances of John Stearns's Estate & Endeavor to bring his affairs to a Settlement as Soon as they can


Then the third article was Read Relating to the Great Bridge over Charls-River in Watertown and after Debate thereon they
