11. AARON' BROWN, s. of an officer in the Revolutionary war was b. in Marlow, d. in the West, m. Polly Gates, dau. of Isaac and Mary (Wheelock) Gates who settled in Acworth in 1781. Aaron lived there also.
12. AARON' BROWN, Jr., b. Acworth May 29, 1795; d. Alstead Jan. 4, 1879; m. 1817 Eadey Watts, b. Alstead 1800 or '02, dau. of Joseph and Polly manhood and womanhood, of whom Isaac3 (13) and John C. (14) lived in S. George R. a lawyer settled in Newport and James H. res. in Hillsboro Bridge.
13. ISAAC® BROWN (Aaron, Jr.2, Aaron1) b. Acworth, Dec. 15, 1821; d. Fowler, Ind., Feb. 12, 1912. He was educated in the public schools of his na- tive town and Marlow Academy, then went to Boston and learned the painter's trade. This however did not appeal to his nature and he gave up the busi- ness. He taught school for a few years and after his m. moved to Alstead, thence to S. in 1851, settling at No. 135. After ten years he went West, first to Champaign Co., Ill., then to Benton Co., Ind., and later was engaged in farming in Nebraska, then in Kansas where he continued farming and in company with James Howe owned a sheep ranch in Texas. In order to stock their ranch they went to Mexico and purchased 3000 sheep which were paid for in U. S. gold. He returned East and Dec. 1864, purchased No. 63, where he res. until Apr. 1877, when he rem. to Walpole and in,1880 returned to Ind., and settled in Fowler, Benton Co. He served as moderator several years, selectman 1853 and 1875, and representative in the legislature 1873-4. He m. May 23, 1850, Frances L. Bundy, b. Walpole, July 25, 1828; d. Fowler, May 7, 1907, dau. of George and Jane (Moore) Bundy. Ch. b. S .:

He was taxed in S. 1854/5, and in 1866 settled in Wal- pole where for a time he was engaged in the meat business with George H. Holden; then took up farming. For nearly 50 years he was a well and fav- orably known citizen of Walpole, where he served as selectman, road agent and State Representative, 1876/77 and '89. He settled in Keene 1871 and for several years was connected with the Cheshire Railroad, then for seven years, was assistant postmaster. In Apr. 1883 he resigned that position to accept an appointment as register of deeds for the county of Cheshire, which office he has since held-1921. In 1904 he purchased the George Joslin farm, No. 172 and occupied it as a sum- mer home for several years, selling in 1920. Mr. Buffum d. in Cambridge, Mass., Oct. 16, 1922, while driving his automobile on a pleasure trip, after over 39 years as registrar of deeds in Cheshire county. He m. 1873, Sarah Lizzie Willson, b.
