28. MOSES WRIGHT b. abt. 1763; d. S. Oct. 15, 1815. His early life, par- ents and family, if any are at present unknown. It is believed he was a near relative of Oliver and Elizur Wright above possibly brother, nephew or cousin. In 1809 he purchased 140 acres and rem. to No. 220; a few months later he sold this property to Amasa Wilbur. He appears to have remained in town till his d. 1815. We have not discovered that he had a wife or children.

29. WILLIAM H.1 WRIGHT; a soldier in Civil war, q.v. b. Norwich or Mansfield, Mass., May 17, 1836; d. S. Dec. 5, 1904; met instant d. while felling a tree. He came to town prior to the war and for many years lived at No. 64, afterwards at 171. He m. Mary Elizabeth Horton who d. at No. 217, Jan. 18, 1921, dau. of Benj. Frank Horton, q.v. Ch. b. S .:

33. HENRY CHANDLER' WRIGHT b. Hanover Feb. 20, 1827; d. there July 15, 1904. He m. Oct. 19, 1853, Hannah Signora Morse b. Enfield, Aug. 25, 1825; d. Lebanon, Apr. 24, 1905, dau. of Amos and Sarah (- --- ) Morse. Mrs. Sarah Morse m. (2) Feb. 16, 1834, William Doten of Canaan, who d. Jan. 23, 1898. They had two dau's and three sons, the eldest was:


34. EDWARD HENRY WRIGHT (Henry C.4, David3, David", John1) b. Canaan June 20, 1855. He was a farmer at Hanover until 1883 when he be- came salesman for the A. C. Daniels Veterinary Medicine Co., Boston, after a year he entered the employ of E. W. Hoyt & Co. of Lowell, Mass. in the same capacity; manufacturers of the Hoyt's German Cologne and Rubifoam. With a two-horse sales wagon he travelled for two years in the states of Mass., New York and Ohio, then discarding the team, he travelled by railroad for sev- eral years, going south to Florida and Texas and as far west as Kansas and the Dakotas. This was followed by two years' service with the well known house of C. I. Hood & Co. of Lowell, after which he re-entered the Daniels Medicine Co., in Boston. He m. (1) June 12, 1878, Alice Mary Church b. Tun- bridge, Vt., Mar. 29, 1853; d. in Hanover Apr. 21, 1882, dau. of John M. and Welthie (Root) Church; m. (2) July 23, 1899, Marietta C. (Carpenter) Daniels who d. S. Sept. 28, 1919, dau. of William Carpenter, q.v., and wid. of Albert Chester Daniels, founder of the A. C. Daniels Vet. Medicine Co. Since that time they res. in Boston, Arlington, Mass., Etna and Surry, N. H .; have travelled quite extensively in the U. S .; were in San Francisco, Cal. on the morning of the great earthquake, Apr. 18, 1906; lost all their baggage, and escaped with their lives to Berkeley, late in the afternoon of that dreadful day. She bequeathed the "Wright Grove" to the town of Surry.

1. ELIPHALET YOUNG (or "Yong's") of Hebron, Conn., was one of the "proprietors" of Gilsum. At the drawing of the lots he was No. 32 and drew four lots : L. 10; R. 6. L. 10; R. 7. L. 10; R7 and L.15; R. 1 in what is now Gilsum. His S. lots all joined on Alstead town line. He sold his shares in 1770 to Stephen Taylor of Coventry, Conn. He probably never lived in this vicinity.
