Tommy Allan Harmon

Tommy Allan Harmon was born on March 11, 1954, in Bremerton, Washington. He passed away on January 6, 1997, in Kernville and is now present with the Lord. Tom grew up in Virginia and served his country in the Vietnam Conflict as a Marine. He drifted into Kernville in May of 1993, after many years of roaming the country in his van. He realized how tired he was (especially after meeting all the pretty girls at Cheryl's Diner) and decided to make Kernville his home.

In 1994, Tom made a com- mitment to the Lord and Pastor Jack Dilley had the privilege of baptizing him in Lanny and Cheryl Borthick's pool.

He always said, if he had ever gone anywhere else and someone asked him about Kernville, he'd say, "I met some pretty incredible people up there." We'll meet again, Tom.

The following is a letter Tom wrote and it was found after he passed away:

To All Hands,

Effective this date and time, Tom H. (wheelchair), for rea- sons of health, will cease all gardening at Cheryl's Diner. It's been fun most o' the time and highly enjoyable workin' with y'all. Learned a lot of plants and had great fun growing stuff, though getting eat up by the red ants warn't no fun, and I would just as well stay away from them. They kinda remind me of the big Alabama camp ants I saw back in my vodka drinkin' days. Well, anyway, it's been nice and fun and a great learn- ing experience, not to be missed.

Thank you to the very nice owners for the kindnesses and helps, waitresses for same, cooks, dishwashers, bussers, the nice customers of whom I've found to be without peer. More gooder customers could not be found. Thank you for your many helps.

I will be "in" from time to time as a customer only. Once again, thanks to you all.

Love, Tom P.S. Keep the ants. 10-10-96
