Mary, or La Rue, as she was known to many, was born April 19, 1925 in Provo, Utah and passed away at her home on Dec. 27, 1999.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Gomez, and her brother Alton Jerry Hayes. She is survived by her hus- band of 56 years, Moises; daughter and son-in-law Sylvia and Robert Farkas of Nevada; daughter and son-in-law Marylynn and Jim O'Connor of Northridge; daughter and son- in-law Linda and Rick Merante of Newhall; daughter and son- in-law Sara and Glenn Eastes of Lake Isabella; daughter-in- law Karen Gomez of Sylmar; brother Leroy Hayes of Ne- vada; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She will be missed by all her family and friends.

Leone Evelyn Loy
Private family arrangements were made for Leone Evelyn Loy.
Leone was born May 3, 1912 in Nebraska and passed away on Dec. 29, 1999 in Bakers- field after a short illness.
Leone's life enjoyment was taking care of her son, grand- children and their families.
Leone is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Ralph; son and daughter-in- law Dick and Donna Loy of Lake Isabella; granddaughter and her husband Julie and Mike Hutchins of Lake Isabella; grandson and his wife Tab and Janet Loy of Upland; and sis- ter Bernice Wilson of Wofford Heights.
Leone will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Edward James Quigley
Edward James Quigley passed away Dec. 30, 1999. Ed was born in Philadelphia April 24, 1913. He was 86 years of age.
He has one son, Gerry Quigley, and one grandson, Michael Quigley, both of whom live in Bakersfield. He also has
a nephew and his wife, Ben and Jean Marie Stables, who friend. reside in Laguna Hills.
Ed was very proud to have served his country in WWII.
He came to Lake Isabella in 1980, and he found his home here. He loved the people of the Kern River Valley and they loved him. He was a member of the VFW, the AARP, a faith- ful volunteer with the
Alzheimer's Respite Group for 10 years; a regular at the Wednesday night dances, the Tuesday night music jam ses- sions; the CB'ers' Saturday morning breakfasts; and many other activities.
Several years ago, he was honored by the Exchange Club as "Man of the Month," and he took great pride in that award:
Ed ate at the Senior Center Nutrition Site every day he was able to, and often said he felt he was with family there. He was sure he was the luckiest man in the world! His happi- ness came from having so many of you to love.
Ed's positive attitude and wonderful sense of humor will be remembered by so many who loved him.
He requested no services. The Senior Center Nutrition Site will have a special lun- cheon at noon on Jan. 7 to honor his memory.
If you wish to make a dona- tion in his memory, please make it to the Senior Center Nutrition Site Council. They will handle the money and plan to also buy a leaf for the "tree of life" at the hospital in his memory.

Clayton C. Rogers
Clayton Rogers passed away at home on Jan. 2, 2000. Services were held at the Kern River Valley Cemetery on Jan. 7, 2000. Clayton was born in Canora, Sask., Canada on Feb. 11, 1923, and moved with his parents to Michigan at the age of 1. He attended local schools in the Southeast Michi- gan area and graduated from Northville High, Northville, Mich. in 1940. He attended Michigan State College follow- ing his marriage to Loretta in 1947. They both worked at U.S. Naval Ordnance Test Station, China Lake, 1946-47 before they married.
Clayton worked at the Gen- eral Motors plant in Van Nuys for 32 years. Twenty-nine of those years were in the paint department and the rest in the water treatment plant. He re- tired in 1988 and moved to. Wofford Heights in 1991 from Panorama City.
While serving in the Army during WWII, he volunteered, for Darby's Rangers, 1st Bat- -
talion, Fifth Army. There were two battalions of Rangers sent to infiltrate German lines in Cisterna, Italy. The Germans had moved in reinforcements and the American Infantry did not show up, thus the Rangers were trapped. Clayton was one of the three men of his outfit who returned. Clayton re- ceived the Purple Heart for his wounds.
He was a member of the WHIGS, the VFW and the Kern River Valley Historical Soci- ety. He and his wife, Loretta, enjoyed working at the mu- seum several afternoons a month as docents.
He enjoyed golfing before he became ill. His hobbies were reloading ammunition and making walking sticks for the museum gift shop.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Loretta; his daugh- ter and son-in-law Carole and Clay Ward of Bodfish; grand- daughters Shannon H. (Ward) Steele and Wendy C. Ward of Bakersfield; great-grandchil- dren William C.J., Erin K. and Jesse D. Steele; sister and brother-in-law Pauline and Bob Shaw of Northville, Mich .; and brother and sister-in-law Howard C. and Fawn Rogers of Middletown, Ohio.

William C. Camp
Graveside services were held at Union Cemetery in Bakersfield for William C Camp, 55, who passed away Jan. 4, 2000 in Fresno. Visita- tion was held at Doughty- Calhoun-O'Meara Funeral Home.
Bill was born Feb. 25, 1944 in Bakersfield but chose to live most of his life in the moun- tains. His early years were spent in the Caliente area.
He was our beautiful father and brother, with his million- dollar smile and clear blue eyes, who had a passion for life, music and the mountains.

He harbored in his heart a love for the earth and people,
especially the Native Ameri- cans he grew up with. One of the best qualities of our father was his willingness to forgive.
He will always live on through his children, siblings, grandchildren, and the person who knew him best, his soulmate, Bonnie James Camp, who was there to the end. We will always keep his memory, stories, and most of all, his jokes, alive.

Ralph Leland Lane
Funeral services were held on Jan. 7, 2000 for Ralph Leland Lane in the chapel of Valley Mortuary. Interment fol- lowed at the Kern River Valley Cemetery.
Ralph was born on Nov. 30, 1925 in Mobile, Ala. and passed away at his home in Wofford Heights on Jan. 3, 2000.
Ralph moved to the Kern River Valley in 1982 from Santa Monica. He enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, boat- ing and working in the per- forming arts. He was a mem- ber of the Screen Actors Guild and worked as an extra in dif- ferent movies and television shows. He was also a member of the International Brother- hood of Electrical Workers Local No. 569 for 44 years. Ralph also had 22 years with Alcoholics . Anonymous and sponsored several people.
Ralph is survived by his com- panion Marcy Brunton; daugh- ter Jo Ann Lane and Michael Elcan of San Diego; son Gregg Lane of San Jose; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Butch Perry of La Mesa, Calif .; daughter Mary Beth Lane of Albany, N.Y .; daughter Julie Sumner of Arcata, Calif .; daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Jerry Lovelady of Las Vegas; daughter and son- in-law Kathleen and Timothy Clancy of San Diego; son Mark Lane of Redding; brother and sister-in-law Charles and Benne Lane of San Diego; sis- ter and brother-in-law Marga- ret and Glen Calder; and grandchildren Sarah and Tyler Sumner and Molly and Grace Lovelady.

Donald Floyd Fanning
Donald F. Fanning of Wofford Heights passed away the evening of Jan. 2, 2000 at his home. He was the son of Samuel Floid Fanning and Lyra Margarite Bond Fanning, who· predeceased him in 1972 and 1986; and also was prede- ceased by his sister, Ora Mary Coop.
Mr. Fanning was also pre- deceased by the mother of his daughter and son, Lorraine Gwendolyn Smith Fanning, March 7, 1986.
Mr. Fanning is survived by his daughter, Kathleen S. Hester and son-in-law Scott M. Hester of Wofford Heights; son Donald Brian Fanning of Flagstaff, Ariz .; sister Barbara M. Quinn of Santa Barbara; step-daughters and sons-in- law Kristen and Gary Kilber, Kimberly and Dennis Markstone, and Kendra and Merced Tomelloso. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, numerous nieces and neph- ews, in California and Nevada; and his wife of 10 years, Leah M. Fanning of Wofford Heights.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 450 in Van Nuys; the Kern River Valley Elks Lodge No. 2358; and the Chrysler Retirees Assn. of California. He had worked for Chrysler Corporation for 38 years prior to his retirement in 1987. He graduated from Escalon High School, Escalon, Calif. in 1946. He was a vet- eran of the Korean War.
Mr. Fanning requested that there be no funeral or memo- rial services. His remains will be inurned at the Kernville Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be sent to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 2111, Bakersfield, Calif: 93303-2111.

Dallas Ringling Driskill ("Tinker")
Funeral services were held on Jan. 11, 2000 for Dallas Ringling Driskill at Valley Mor- tuary Chapel in Lake Isabella. Officiating was Jeff McCulty of Mt. View Southern Baptist Church.
Dallas was born in Cornish, Okla. on Jan. 29, 1914 and passed away in Bakersfield on Jan. 3, 2000.
Dallas first came to the Kern Valley in 1939 to cut potatoes and enjoyed a ranch in Havilah from 1964 to 1989 and then moved to Lake Isabella.
Dallas was a gentleman. Some even considered him a country boy. He even enjoyed an occasional waltz with his wife. Dallas loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed trophy hunt- ing dogs.
He was a charter member of the CB club and used the handle of "Tinker." He was also a member of the Red Bone Hound Association.
Dallas was preceded in death by his son, Billy Frank, in 1997 and is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Frankie; daughter Shirley Driskill of Lake Isabella; eight grandchil- dren and numerous great- grandchildren.

Lona Mae Potts
Lona Mae Potts died of natu- ral causes on Dec. 30, 1999 in Burbank. She was born Dec. 13, 1913.
She was an accomplished artist, an ace golfer, a world traveler and a good friend.
She is survived by her daughters Jeannie and Gail; grandchildren Kelli and Joe; and great-grandchildren Gavin, Sadie Jean and Alex.
Lona lived happily in Lake Isabella for 25 years. She will be greatly missed.
Ruth Idella Vanlandingham
At her request, no services will be held for Ruth Idella Vanlandingham.
Ruth was born on May 16, 1917 in Granite Falls, Minn. She passed away Dec. 29, 1999 in Lake Isabella.
Ruth was a very social per- son and held the office of presi- dent for the Kern Valley Side- - band CB Club for five years. In doing so, she met a lot of people and made a lot of friends. She was known as "Cottontail" to most of them. She was also a member of he Grandmothers No. 94 and the Seniors Happy Hookers Cro- chet Club.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Van ("Jack Rabbit") and is survived by a son, Gene Vanlandingham of Weldon, and also all of her friends.
Ruth was a person who was very unconditional of her love for her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.

Dorothy Marguerite Judd
Funeral services were held for Dorothy Marguerite Judd on Jan. 6, 2000 at Highland Chapel United Methodist Church in Lake Isabella. Offi- ciating was Pastor Mark Buenafe and Pastor Floyd Castillo. Interment followed at the Kern River Valley Cem- etery in Wofford Heights.
Dorothy was a member of the Highland Chapel United Methodist Church. She en- joyed visiting her friends and also enjoyed cooking.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 23 years, Charlie; daughter and son-in-law Beverly and Jack Mitchell, and two grandchildren, all from Ala- bama.

Mary Hatch
Mary Hatch was born to Stanley and Mary Drozdowski on Jan. 28, 1930 in Canada. She entered into rest on Jan. 13, 2000 at the age of 69.
Mary and her husband, Sid, were best known for being the owners and operators of the Paradise Mobilehome Park in Lake Isabella until Sid entered eternal rest in 1995. She con- tinuęd operating the park until 1998, at which time she re- tired. Mary lived across the street from the park and had her home and several homes she cared for.
Mary loved to bowl and was an excellent bowler. Each time she got a strike she would do a little dance. She was bowling when she became ill and had just bowled three strikes in a row. It has been said that Mary died doing something she loved to do.
Mary attended the Moun- tain View Southern Baptist Church for several years. She is survived by her son, Glen Hatch of North Hollywood; daughter Linda Pope of Vista; grandchildren Brent, Trevor, Jennifer, Justin and Dylan; three brothers and two sisters; and a host of friends who helped her during her time in the Kern Valley.
Services will be held on Jan. 21, 2000 at 11 a.m. at the Mountain View Southern Bap- tist Church with Pastor C. Preston North officiating. Burial will be private.
Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Services are entrusted to the care of the Bonewell Fam- ily of the Lake Isabella Funeral Home.

John Harvey Taylor
John Harvey Taylor passed away Dec. 29, 1999 in Victorville of a heart attack. He was born in Bakersfield on Aug. 19, 1938. John was one of two sons of H. Russell and Margery F. Taylor. He grew up in Bakersfield and graduated from grade school at Bakers- field Junior Academy. He graduated from North Bakers- field High School.
John worked as a certified welder at Hopper machine shop and then joined his father in the family fire equipment business, helping to expand it to four locations in the '70s. John assisted in expanding chain saw sales and repair, as well as safety equipment, ser- vicing businesses, govern- ment, the mining industry and military in Kern County, through Death Valley and into Arizona. John moved into the Kern River Valley to open H. Russell Taylor's Saw Shop, later be- coming Outdoor Power and Sport.
During his time he spent in the valley up until his untimely death, John was very active in local rodeo events and Ducks Unlimited, and he loved winter sports including snowmobiling with his good friends. He was also involved in off-road racing and was a member of the Mears racing team out of Bakersfield. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
John was preceded in death by his mother and father, and is survived by his brother, Russell, of Oregon, and sons Scott and Michael of Northern California.
A memorial service of re- membrance and sharing will be held on Jan. 22 at the Fra- ternal Order of the Eagles at 12233 Highway 178 in Moun- · tain Mesa. All friends and fam- ily are invited to attend and share our joint memories.
Baillie (Bill) T. Wilson
Baillie (Bill) T. Wilson passed away on Jan. 15, 2000 after a long battle with cancer. He was 73. Bill was born in Los Ange- les where he lived, worked and raised his family with his wife of 49 years, Miriam, until mov- ing to the valley in 1977.
Bill is survived by his wife Miriam; daughter Suzanne and husband Jerry Weis; daughter Diane and husband Randy Ford; son Dennis and wife Meredith Wilson; grandchil- dren James Lacy and wife Jena and their son James Lacy III; and grandsons Jeff Wilson and Ryan Wilson.
Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Kern Valley Hospi- tal Foundation to help fund their mammography program.
Robert E. Krause
Robert E. Krause passed away on Dec. 27, 1999 in grandchildren was very impor- Hermosa Beach. He was 81.
Robert lived in the Kern River Valley for 23 years, in Bodfish. He was born in Corning, New York, on Oct. 13, 1918. He is 'survived by his children, Rob- ert Krause Jr., Valorie Barren and Melodee Pelano; four grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.
Services were held at Pa- cific View Baptist Church in Torrance on Jan. 15, 2000, and were officiated by minister John Sanders.
Harold W. (Bill) Young
Harold W. (Bill) Young, 57, nia; his sister, Marilyn Young passed away Jan. 1, 2000. of lowa; and grandchildren Taylor, Aubrey and Dorrin. Funeral services were con- ducted on Jan. 6, 2000 at Mountain View Chapel, Boise, Idaho.
Bill was born in South Gate, Calif. on Dec. 18, 1942, to Harold and Genevieve Young. He was raised in Lake Isabella.
After graduating from Fresno State University in 1967, Bill accepted a position with the U.S. Geological Survey in Boise where he worked for 33 years as a hydrologist.
In his early years in Boise, Bill enjoyed fishing and hunt- ing with his family in the Idaho outdoors. His children have many fond memories of nu- merous camping trips and will never forget those cold morn- ings spent in a duck blind down on the Snake River.
In more recent years, Bill established an antiques and collectibles business. He en- joyed working with his clients located all over the world and was always searching for his next "big find."
Although Bill had a passion for his new business, he also loved spending time golfing with his son, Craig, and his daughters, Heather and Angie. Time spent playing with his tant to him. He was a very special husband, father and grandfather and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Betty Young; his daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Lance Dunne; his son, Craig Young; his daughter, Angie N. Young; his step-daughter and son-in- law, Chimena and Sean Cole; his stepson and daughter-in- law, Jason and Michelle Shurtleff, all of Boise; his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Darlene Young of Califor-

Jane Frances Widner
Jane Frances Widner was born in Perry, Mo. on Sept. 19, 1917, and passed away on Jan. 5, 2000.
When her husband retired they moved to Lake Isabella, and spent 20 happy years to- gether. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, at times doing seamstress work at home. She also had a wide array of crafts she got great pleasure in doing.
The last few years of her life she was lovingly taken care of by her niece, Marcy Stillman. Combined with the wonderful care given by Hoffman Hos- pice, it made those last re- maining weeks of her life more comfortable and peaceful.
I'm sure if she were here she would want to give special loving thanks to Jeneice, Doris, Randy, and Chaplain Bert Simpson, and everyone from Hoffman Hospice.
Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Widner; brother-in-law Paul Reindl; and sister Ceriece Reindl. She is survived by her niece Marcy Stillman; nephew Harry Peer; sister Virginia Goodhart; nephew Johnnie Krigbaum and numerous other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Complying with her wishes, there were no memorial ser- vices. Arrangements were made through the Neptune Society, and her ashes were scattered at sea, uniting with those of her beloved husband. Margaret was born April 27, 1926 in Pulaski, Tenn. and passed away on Jan. 15, 2000 in Lake Isabella. Margaret was a member of the Women of the Moose and also the Eagles' ladies auxiliary.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 29 years, Harvey; her brother W.J. Spears of Morristown, N.J .; two sisters, Bobbie Spears of Nashville and Novella Spears of Indianapo- lis; and also her dog, Trixie.

Memorial services were held on Jan. 22, 2000 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Wofford Heights for Helen Theresa Link. Helen was born on March 9, 1924 in Trenton, N. J. and passed away on Jan. 14, 2000. Helen was a member of the Ladies of the Elks, St. Jude Altar and Rosary Society, and St. Jude Choir.
Helen was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Larson of Medford, Ore .; sis- ter Theresa and brother Will- iam.
Helen is survived by her husband of over 52 years, Harry; son Michael of Trail, Ore .; daughter Virginia Bagnas of Lake Elsinore; sister Susie Rowan of North Carolina; three wonderful grandchildren and a great-granddaughter ex- pected in April.

Paulette Shuler
Services were held at Val- ley Mortuary in Lake Isabella on Jan. 20, 2000 for Paulette Shuler. She had been a Lake Isabella resident for the past ten years. Paulette was born on Aug. 30, 1942 and passed Thomas Dietz of Parker, Ariz .; away at Kern Valley Hospital on Jan. 17, 2000.
She is survived by her hus- band, Homer Shuler; twin sis- ter Claudette Darnall; daugh- ters Linda Mann, Mary Turner
. and Cindy Buckner; grandchil- dren Katrina Mann, Matthew Mann, Sarah Mann, Tamara Turner, Christina Turner, Bobby Buckner, Felicia Buckner, nephew Donald Lawson, niece Carolyn Lawson and all of her valley friends.
Paulette was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, and she will always be in our hearts. We miss you.
lola Mary Stone
lola was born on May 11, 1913 in Clinton, lowa to Raymond and Catherine Dietz. She entered into eternal rest on Jan. 17, 2000 in Redondo Beach at the age of 86. lola was a resident of Wofford Heights for 27 years. Her life will be remembered by many and her influence and kind- ness will be missed.
