Walter Clayton Busch is sur- vived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Judy (Gertrude) Busch; his beloved daughter Laura and her husband Jim; by Francis and Don; and all of the rest of his family, his special friends, and brother Masons. Walt will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Elizabeth (Betty) J. Wahlstrom
Elizabeth (Betty) J. Wahlstrom was bom on July 28, 1930, to Bemie and Laura DeGraff in Chi- cago. Betty entered etemal rest on April 4, 2001 at her home in Wofford Heights.
She was married to Floyd Wahlstrom, and they had two children, a son, James Carl Wahlstrom and a daughter, Tem June Suoboda. There are also two grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
Betty and her husband moved to Lake Isabella 24 years ago to retire. Instead, she went to work at Kem Valley Hospital, where she worked some five years be- fore retiring. Betty loved to bowl and belonged to the WIBC Bowl- ing Association of Kern County. Betty and her family enjoyed boat- ing camping and friends. She will be missed by family and many friends of the Kem Valley.
Elizabeth (Betty) June Wahlstrom was interred during private services at Kern River Val- ley Cemetery in Wofford Heights
on April 11, 2001.

Harold Leroy Maglott
Harold Maglott was bom to Dwight and Anthony Maglott in Ohio on Jan. 8, 1941. He en- tered rest on April 7, 2001 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He fought very hard so he could have more time with his family.
Harold loved God's creation. He especially loved to work in his flower garden as well as spending time fishing. He was a very kind and gentle man who as very sensitive to the needs of others. Even in his last hours he was concerned about the wel- fare of his wife and family. He enjoyed life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment he could spend with his family. He had a great sense of humor.
Harold was a life member of the Ontario, Calif. VFW Post 765, as well as a life member of the Amvets Post 31 in Ohio. He vol- unteered a lot of hours to both of these posts. He served his coun- try in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1959 to 1965.
Harold is survived by his wife, Jeanne, of Lake Isabella; a son, Albert, also of Lake Isabella; and four grandchildren.
Harold will be greatly missed by his wife, son and wife, and his grandchildren, friends and comrades.

Tyler Garrett Madden
Tyler Garrett Madden was born into this world on April 9, 2001. He was delivered Cesarean section 15 weeks early due to complications of pre-eclampsia by Dr. Cary Shakespeare at Kern Medical Center. Tyler weighed one pound, 10-1/2 ounces and was 13-1/2 inches long. On April 11, 2001, the Lord called Tyler home. In the two days that Tyler was with us, he. was able. to. meet his Mommy and Daddy and his grandparents. He only opened his eyes a few times, twice to look at his Daddy. He enjoyed Mommy and Daddy rubbing the palm of his hand. In the final moments of Tyler's pre- cious life, his parents were able to hold him and Tyler left this world with the kiss of his Daddy. Tyler was the beloved son of Garrett and Touche Madden of Lake Isabella. He is survived by his five-year-old brother, Mat- thew Reilly of Lake Isabella; maternal grandparents Danny and Gery Reilly of Bodfish; pa- temal grandparents Michael and Teresa Madden of Lake Isabella; Uncle Brian, Aunt Tracy and cousin Tina Dowd of Bodfish; Uncle Sean, Aunt Denise and cousin Nicholas Madden of Palmdale; Aunt Sara, Uncle David and cousin Kylee Avant of Lancaster; and Uncle Matthew Madden of Lake Isabella. Tyler Garrett Madden

William Harold (Harry) Miller
Private arrangements were made for Harry Miller, who passed away on April 18, 2001.
Harry was born June 25, 1934, in Eureka, Calif .; and moved here with his parents in 1966. They had a trucking business for many years and also he did paving around the Valley. He then went to work for AA Portandva in Agoura Hills for 17 years and then came back to the Valley to retire and went. to work part time at Napa Auto. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports and dancing. He was a member of the Elks.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Darline; daughter Linda Miller of Eureka; step- daughter Adena Rich and her husband of Washington; step- sons Dean Julian and his wife Lolita of Madera, and Randy Belluci of Hayfork,Calif .; step- daughters Dana Blank of Trubocho Canyon, Calif., and Lori Sanders and her husband of Ridgecrest; sister Gurildene Carlson of Eureka; nine grand- children and one great-grand- child. .

Pittman Daniel Kelley
A memorial service was held April 19, 2001 at High- land Chapel United Method- ist Church for Pittman Kelley, who passed away at his home on April 13, 2001.
Pittman moved to the Kern River Valley with his wife, Anna, in 1974 after retiring from Downey Dodge. He served in the U.S. Navy dur- ing WWII. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Area cam- paign medal and was a mem- ber of the Ancient Order of the Deep. He was a member of the VFW and the Masons and Shriners. He was also active in three C.B. clubs and was known as Pitstop. He was a member of the Highland Chapel United Methodist Church.
Pittman enjoyed fishing, camping, boating and motor- cycles. He was active into his 70s in these sports. He and Anna liked to go to Yuma, Ariz. in the winter and camp. Pittman was a very kind man and a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife Anna and his son Bobby Gene Kelley. He is sur- vived by his son and daugh- ter-in-law Buddy Lee and Laurie Kelley of Santa Maria; sisters Ailene Inman Hayes and Grace Shue; grandchil- dren Debbie Thompson, Linda Chaffee, Daniel Kelley, Robert Kelley, Melodie Kelley, Thomas Kelley, and Donald Kelley; 20 great- grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all his family and friends.

Harold Leroy Maglott

James W. Manson
ยท Graveside services were held April 18, 2001 at Hillcrest Memorial Park. 9101 Kern Canyon Road. Bakersfield, for James (Jim) W. Manson, 59, of Lake Isabella, who passed away April 13, 2001 at Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield.
Jim was born Nov. 16, 1941 in Inglewood, and had been a resident of Lake Isabella for 24 years. He was a graduate of Long Beach State, a li- censed real estate broker and sold real estate in the Kern River Valley for over 15 years. He was involved in his church, he taught real estate and other courses at Cerro Coso College, he loved to sing and was involved in the barber- shop quartet, and he worked with many disabled people in the community while he worked at Kern River Valley ARC as a Case Manager.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Sharon Manson of Bodfish; daughters and son's-in-law Lori and David Head of Nome, Alaska, and Shari and Jared Gingras of Orem, Utah; son and daugh- ter-in-law Scott and Susan Manson of Fresno and daugh- ter Cindy Rose of Bodfish; 14 grandchildren; sister Sue Keliiheleua of Las Vegas, Nev .; mother-in-law Jeanene Ballew of Trona; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim will be greatly missed by all of his friends and loved ones. We do know he is no longer with us but will never be forgotten.

George Adam Bettencourt, Sr.
George Adam Bettencourt, Sr., 73, died April 18, 2001, at Kaiser Permanente River- side Medical Center.
A native of New Bedford, Mass., Mr. Bettencourt lived in Hemet for almost a year before he moved to River- side five months ago. He was an auto mechanic for 30 years, most recently with Mercedes Benz of South Bay.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces.
He is survived by two sons, John of Hemet and George Jr. of Diamond Bar; two daughters, Patty Garnett of Temecula and Lynn of Lake Isabella; seven grandchil- dren; three brothers, Frank of New Hampshire, Albert of Lomita and John of Las Ve- gas; and a sister, Betty Fernandes of Las Vegas.
Memorial services were at the Bible Fellowship Church in Hemet. Inurnment was pri- vate. The McWane Family Funeral Home in Hemet handled arrangements.
Fredrick Donald Dusette
Fredrick Donald Dusette passed away on April 17, 2001 in Mountain Mesa after a long illness. Burial was at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
Mr. Dusette was born July 12, 1915 in Flint, Mich. While working at the U.S. Navy CBC he designed the steel mat installing machine for land- ing fields.
He was a resident of the Kern River Valley for over 20 years, living in the mountain areas before moving to Moun- tain Mesa. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Elma, in 1960. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Guanda Dusette of Oxnard; daughter and son-in-law Donna and David Klipstein of San Diego; four grandchil- dren and five great-grandchil- dren.
Arrangements were made with Valley Mortuary of Lake Isabella.
Clara Roxana LaFountain
Private arrangements were made for Clara Roxana LaFountain, who passed away on April 16, 2001 in Mountain Mesa. Interment was at Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wofford Heights.
Clara was born Nov. 20, 1911 in New Hampshire and she and her husband moved to the Kern River Valley in 1969 after retiring. Clara worked for Sears for 25 years.
She enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband and she also enjoyed writing po- etry. Clara enjoyed working in her garden and grew many types of roses while living in Castro Valley before moving back to the Kern Valley.
She was much loved by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her hus- band of 64 years, Albert LaFountain; niece Edith Rummel and nephew John Swandhurst; her sweet dog Tippy Il; and her many friends.
Arrangements were made by Valley Mortuary of Lake Isabella.

Leonard Ernest "Dave" Davis
Dave was born in Holmes, Pa. on Oct. 13, 1923.He graduated from Ridley Town- ship High School June 16, 1941, where he was in the band. He loved playing the drums. He joined the Army July 6, 1943 as an Auto Equip- ment Operator, where he drove trucks used to haul mili- tary supplies, equipment or personnel. He was with the 2068th Quartermaster Truck Company (Aviation). He served in France. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 16, 1945 from Patterson Field, Ohio.
He moved to California and worked for McDonnell Dou- glas for more than 28 years, retiring in 1982. He married Winona Glass Oct. 14, 1967. When they retired they moved to Oklahoma. Three years ago they relocated to Lake Isabella to be near their immediate family.
Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Winona; his parents, Harry and Pauline (Bond); and his brother, Edward. He is sur- vived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Norita and James Lockhart, and Glenda and Stanton Lowry, all of Lake Isabella; grandchildren Mike Lockhart, Cindy Lowry, Melody Arnold, Mitchell Lockhart, Mark Lockhart and Tim Lowry; and nine great- grandchildren. His grandchil- dren will always remember the trips he and "Nani" took them on, one grandchild at a time for special treatment.
After a short stay in the hospital, he died of lung can- cer on April 28, 2001. He was cared for by Hoffman Hospice at Kern Valley Hos- pital in Mountain Mesa. At his request, he will be cre- mated and his ashes scat- tered at sea by the Neptune Society.
Joy Fay Wallace
Joy Fay Wallace, born Dec. 25, 1919, went home to be with our Lord Jesus on April 21, 2001 at 8:40 p.m.
She will be greatly missed by the family she has been temporarily separated from. Sheleaves behind in this world a loving husband, Jack of Weldon, whom she has spent the last 55 years with. She also leaves behind a daugh- ter and son-in-law, Joy and Joel Donoho of Lake Isabella. She is survived by nine grand- children- Johnny, Blair, David, Tammy, Jimmy, Tanya, Michael, Jack and Johnny- and also 13 great- grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Jackie Harwel of Bakersfield, Bemice Herbert of Louisiana and Betty Frazier of Lake Isabella, as well as many nieces and nephews, and friends whom she loved dearly.
A memorial service was held on April 25, 2001 at the Weldon Baptist Church. Offi- ciating the service was Pastor Bill Lewis. She is preceded in the arms of Jesus by several sisters, a brother and a be- loved son, Melvin Wood.

Sundy Vincent Andreas
Sundy Vincent Andreas, 84, was bom to parents Willie and Josephine Andreas in Onyx on July 23, 1916. He entered eternal life on April 25, 2001 in his home on the Sprague Ranch where he had worked for 32 years. Sundy is survived by daugh- ters Beverly of Bakersfield and Doris of Weldon, and sons Earl and Kenneth of Weldon; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Sundy had a career work- ing at most ranches in the area. He was a native Indian of the Pauite/Tubatulabal/ Monache tribes. He loved to hunt, fish and camp.
Sundy used to backpack with mules at Mt. Whitney. He had a 75-year career working with helping start team roping and helping to start the local Search and Rescue- and he always found the person they were looking for. He was a very good tracker, and at one time was president of Fish and Game in the local area. Sundy was a delegate from Kern County to the U.S. In- dian Fund for Califomia. In the 1970s Sundy was inter- viewed for a TV special by Charles Kuralt. Sundy was a family man who quit school to help the family. Sundy was married to his wife, Chanca, for 58 years. He was a spe- cial native and cowboy all his life. Sundy will be greatly missed by family and friends. Services to be set later. Gertrude Louise Boring
Funeral services were held May 1, 2001 at the Ma- sonic Lodge No. 827 in Kemville for Gertrude Louise Boring, who passed away April 26, 2001 after a long illness. Interment followed at the Kern River Cemetery in Wofford Heights.
Gertude was bom Sept. 23, 1918 in lone, Calif. She moved to Kern County in 1963 to Johannesburg with her husband, Ted, where he was a miner. They then moved to Cantil where they owned and operated the Wagon Wheel cafe, bar and gas station for six years. They then moved to the Kern River Valley, where they opened the Kernvale Club in 1964 in Lake Isabella. They owned and operated the club until 1985.
Gertrude enjoyed her gar- den and reading and cro- cheting. She was preceded in death by her husband Ted in 1995. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Frank and Peggy Boring of Trona; son and daughter-in- law Dean and Yvonne Bor- ing of Redding; daughter and son-in-law Judy and Clark Rhoads of Bakersfield; grandchildren Robert and Glenn Boring of Trona, Denise Moore of Woody, Bob Riggs of Bakersfield and Julie Arsonault of Oregon; and three great-grand- daughters, Rebecca, Shara and Amanda Moore.
Arrangements were made with Valley Mortuary of Lake Isabella.
Coy Loyalton Ussery
Coy Loyalton Ussery, 84, was born in Texas to Jesse and Minnie Ussery on March 5, 1917. He served his coun- try in WWII in the U.S. Army.
After coming to California he worked for the Interna- tional Union of Operating En- gineers, Local No. 12. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator'for 35 years.
Coy loved to fish as well as loving his work. He was admired for his dry sense of humor and was greatly loved and respected by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Vivian; two daughters, Joni White of Bakersfield and Terri Ornelas of Lake Isabella; one sister, Odessa Powers of Bakersfield; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Coy will be greatly missed by his family and friends who knew and loved him.
Visitation was held at the Lake Isabella Funeral Home on May 1, 2001 from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Lake Isabella Fu- neral Home on May 2, 2001 at 10 a.m. Private burial will be at the San Joaquin Veter- ans Home in Gustine, Calif. on May 3, 2001.

Funeral services were held April 26, 2001 at the Weldon Southern Baptist Church for Caroline Duvall. Officiating was Pastor Bill Lewis. Caroline passed away on April 21, 2001 in Mountain Mesa.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda McLaughlin. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Donald Duvall of Lake Isabella; brother James David of Michigan; aunt Elsie Rheese of Michigan; daugh- ters and sons-in-law Donna and Jim O' Reamer of Lake Isabella, Jeanette and Jim Ward of Covina, Margi and Ed Bowhan of Lake Isabella and Jackie and Jim Burrows of Lake Isabella; sons and daughters-in-law Rick and Barbara Duvall of Covina and Donald and Beth Duvall of Wofford Heights; son Dou- glas Duvall of Wofford Heights; son-in-law Michael Mclaughlin of Lake Isabella; more than 25 grandchildren; and more than 25 great- grandchildren.

Bertha June Kreighbaum
Graveside services were held April 30, 2001 at Kem River Valley Cemetery for Bertha J. Kreighbaum. Offici- ating was Pastor Floyd Castillo.
Bertha was born June 27, 1920 in Oklahoma Territory. She passed away on April 26, 2001 in Mountain Mesa.
Bertha and her husband Roy moved to China Lake in 1945 from Los Angeles. They moved to the Kem River Val- ley in 1971 after Roy retired. She enjoyed gardening, quilt- ing, ceramics and traveling, but most of all being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 1994 and her son Leroy in 1998. Bertha is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Gary and Barbara Kreighbaum of Fresno; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Kenneth Ralph Bowling
Funeral services were held at Inglewood Park Cemetery for Kenneth Ralph Bowling, 86, who passed away May 3, 2001.
Kenneth was born in Mesa, Ariz. on June 7, 1914. He was an electrician- a 60-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers- and worked at shipyards during WWII. He trained apprentice electricians all throughout his working ca- reer. After the war, he worked in heavy construction, work- ing at putting in hospitals as well as power plants (atomic and fossil fuel).
After his second marriage to his wife of 35 years, Eileen, they traveled the United States "tramping." They traveled and
worked many interesting places so they could see the States and fish the many lakes and rivers. They called these their working vacations.
After retirement, they moved to the Kern Valley, where he had brought his fam- ily since 1953.
Kenneth enjoyed working in his yard and garden until he became too ill.
Kenneth is predeceased by an infant daughter and all his 10 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Eileen; sons Don Bowling of Reseda and Kent Bowling of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; daugh- ters Bonnie Soeng of Granada Hills and Carole Meadows of Gardena; and four grandchil- dren.

Lillian Elizabeth Rice
Funeral services were held May 14, 2001 at Valley Mortuary Chapel for Lillian Elizabeth Rice, who passed away May 8, 2001 in Bakers- field. Offficiating was Pastor Mark Buenafe of Highland Chapel United Methodist Church.
Lillian was bom Oct. 22, 1916 in St. Louis, Mo. and moved here to the Kern Val- ley 28 years ago after retir- ing. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and cruising with her family. She and her adult granddaughter went on a cruise to Alaska last July. She was a wonderful Mom and adored by her family. .
Lillian was preceded in
death by her husband of 62 years, Wesley, and her sis- ter, Margaret Pardy.

Wrightwood, 10 grandchil- dren and 15 grandchildren. She will be very much missed by those who loved her.

Frieda Myers
Funeral services were held May 12, 2001 at High- land Chapel United Method- ist for Frieda Myers, who passed away on May 5, 2001 at her home in Lake Isabella. Officiating was Pastor Mark Buenafe, with interment fol- lowing at the Kem River Val- ley Cemetery in Wofford Heights.
Frieda was born Oct. 8, 1909 in Konradsthal, Ger- many. She immigrated to Canada in 1918 with her mother and father and later moved to Pennsylvania where she married and raised her family. She. lived in Phoenix and was employed at Ryan Evans Drug Stores for many years. Then she and her hus- band, Daryl, ownedandoper- ated the Del Camino nursery in Scottsdale, Ariz. She en- joyed gardening and trimming her own trees. Even into her late 80s she was willing to assist her neighbors and friends as she continued to drive them to the doctors or shopping.
She enjoyed fishing and caught more bass than any- one else. She and her daugh-
ter-in-law went rafting on the Kem River five months be- fore she tumed 90 years old. She loved the Kern River Valley.
Her husband, Daryl, her daughter Sally Lewis and her son Walter Keeling preceded Frieda in death. She is sur- vived by her son Don Keeling and his wife Margery; daugh- ter-in-law Shirley Keeling; 14 grandchildren; 31 great- grandchildren; and 16 great- great-grandchildren. She touched many lives with her laughter and friendship and will be dearly missed by many.

John Robert Adams
Funeral services were held May 11, 2001 at Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wofford Heights for John Robert Adams, 64, who passed away May 7, 2001 at Mercy Hospi- tal in Bakersfield. Pastor Wil- liam Sturges officiated.
