Marcelle was a member of the Cunningham Gallery in Bakersfield, Art Chairman, of the Kern River South Fork Womens Club in Weldon, a member of the Kern Valley Art Association in Kemville and of the Desert Art League in China Lake. When health permitted, she attended St. Jude Church in Wofford Heights. She spoke English, French and Spanish fluently. Max E. Chappell
Funeral services were held August 8, 1995 at Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, California, for Max E. Chappell, age 72. He passed away on August 2, 1995, at his home in Weldon, California, after a lengthy illness. Max was born March 14, 1913in Lyman, Utah. He loved the Kern River Valley and especially the view of the lake from his home in Weldon where he had lived for 5-1/2 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Kern River Val- ley Historical Society, the Democrat Club and the Ameri- can Association of Retired Persons.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Chappell; his daughter, Evelynn Glynn, of West Hills, California; his daughter Sandra Hopkins of Norco, California; his brother Neill Chappell of Salt Lake City, Utah, and his sister Mildred Wood of Lyman, Utah; his stepdaughter Re- becca Winson of New York City, and his stepson James McKean of Santa Maria, California. He is also survived by 13 grand- children and several great- grandchildren. He was pre- ceded in death by a son; Elijah Chappell; a daughter, Peggy Starn; two grandsons, Scott Bufkin and Billy Chappell and recently by his stepson, Jack Mckean, Jr.
Max's funeral was a family affair, with his son-in-law Rob- ert Hopkins officiating. The eulogy was given by his son Russell, and the grave was dedicated by his brother Neill. His grandson Joshua Chappell read his favorite poem, "It Takes a Heap of Livin'" by Edgar Guest. Pall bearers were grandsons, Don and David Starn, and Bruce Bufkin, grandson Marine Jeremy Chappell, friend Earl Melson, and stepson James McKean.
Max farmed and broke horses as a young man in Utah. Later, he worked in the Los Angeles area as a manager for garment cutting companies.
He is also survived by dear friends Gloria and Earl Melson who brough Kathy and Max to the Lake Isabella area for the first time in . lulv of 1989

Wanda Ruth Harrison
Wanda R. Harrison, age 67 of Bolivar, MO, died at 5:00 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 1995 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, MO, after a linger- ing illness.
She was born in Laclede County Missouri and was a retired waitress. She was a former resident of Kernville, CA and a member of the First Baptist Church of Kernville. She was also a past member of the Eastern Star at Jamesport, MO.
Surviving is her husband, Loomer Harrison of the home, two sisters, Mrs. Myra Erickson of Mission Viejo, CA and Mrs. Marilyn Stempel of Ottumwa, lowa also two brothers, John W. Massey of Liberty, MO and Wilbert L. Massey of Springfield, MO.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 22, 1995 at 10:30 a.m. in the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO with the Rev. Ray Leininger officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Rose Cemetery at Lebanon, MO with the Rev. Don Anderson officiating under the direction of the Butler Fu- neral Home of Bolivar, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Agnes Lenoir Parker
Private arrangements were made for Agnes Lenoir Parker of Lake Isabella. Mrs. Parker ws born October 7, 1908 in Perris, Texas and passed away July 31, 1995 in Mt. Mesa. She had been a resident of Lake Isabella for the past 5 years and a member of the Church of Christ in Mt. Mesa. She is sur-

Joyce Rose Jones
Funeral services were held for Joyce R. Jones on Wednesday, August 2, 1995 in the Valley Mortuary Chapel. Joyce was born on August 9, 1927 in North Loup, Nebraska to Sidney E. Wilson and Rua Alice Lane. Joyce married Clifford "Casey" Jones on February 4th, 1945, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
They lived in Bakersfield until 1971 before coming to the Kern Valley. They opened the Kern Valley Auto Body shop in Wofford Heights and operated it for many years until his re- tirement in 1990. Joyce was very active within the local community. She and Casey were always among the first sponsors for any community or charitable event. As a result of her community involvement, she was the first woman ever elected to be mayor of Whiskey Flat Days.
She has been fighting the cancer battle for several years and after a brief stay in Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield, she died on July 29, 1995.
She is survived by her hus- band of more than 50 years, Clifford "Casey" Jones; their sons, Clifford "Pug" Jones and his wife Norma; and Keith "Mick" Jones and his wife Lynda; their daughter Debbra R. Jones who predeceased her; four grand- children, Michael Jones, Cliffie Jones, Carrie Valdez and Sondae Jones, and five great- grandchildren. Hermother, Rua Collett, lives in Lake Isabella. Joyce is also survived by her sister Margery and family and her many friends.

Forrest Byron Holmes
Memorial services were held Saturday August 12, 1995, at 11:00 A.M. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church for Forrest Byron Holmes. Offici- ating was Dr. Marvin D. Moon. Mr. Holmes was born January 20, 1929 in Clovis, California and passed away August 8, 1995 in Bakersfield, California. He was a resident of the Kern River Valley for 5 years. He was a member of the Moose, California State Teachers Re- tirement Union, the Lake Isa- bella Symphony Orchestra and the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. While in the Navy he played in the Navy band and he also played with several name bands during the Big Band era. He had a teach- ing career for 32 years in the Fresno and Big Bear areas. He is survived by his wife of 8 years Irene Holmes of Bodfish, son Zane Holmes of Cherry Valley, daughter Evette Rose of Big Bear Lake, step-son Steven Beck of San Diego, step- daughter Anne McCollum of Lone Pine, 2 brothers Bi !! Earle Stockman Parker
Funeral services were held in the Rose Chapel of the Lake Isabella Funeral Home on Thursday, August 10, 1995, at 11:00 A.M. for Lake Isabella resident Earle S. Parker, 75. Private inurnment followed at Union Cemetery in Bakersfield. Earle was born July 19, 1920 in Fredrick, Wisconsin. He spent his early years in Dayton, Ohio and lived most of his adult life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Earle was a veteran of both the Second World War and the Korean War. He served in the Coast Guard during World War Il and then in the Navy during
1 the Korean War. Earie worked for many years as an insurance agent. He was a very unique and special man and will not be forgotten by his loving family and friends. He had been a resident of Lake Isabella for the past three years having moved here from Palmdale. He was a member of the Palmdale Lodge of the B.P.O.E. Earle is survived by his wife Gloria of Lake isa- bella, by two sons Earle Parker of Palmdale and Brian Parker of Sylmar, two daughters Gale Gibson of Lake Isabella and Cynthia Moore of Lancaster, Dy one sister Cieo Law of Or- egon and by seven grandchil- dien, three great grandchildren and by many friends. Amy M. Nyhuis
Private inurnment was held for Mrs. Amy M. Nyhuis, 76. She passed away at the Ridgecrest Community Hospi- tal on Saturday evening, August 5. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 20, 1919, She attended school in Glenellyn, Illinois where she met and married her husband Pe- ter. In 1944 she and her hus- band moved to Westchester,
CA. In 1971 they started com- ing to their weekend retreat at Lake Isabella and in 1977 moved here. Amy loved to swim and enjoyed sailing. She was a member of the Wofford Heights Society of Christian Science, the Order of the Eastern Star, and Kaph chapter of Golden Slipper. She is survived by her husband Peter Nyhuis of Lake Isabella, by two sons Peter An- drew Nyhuis and Dean Allen Nyhuis, by three grandchildren, one great grandchild and by one great great granddaughter Malisa Marie Snyder and by many friends. Edgar Austin Rucker
Memorial services were held Saturday August 12, 1995 at 2:00 p.m. at Valley Mortuary Chapel for Edgar Austin Rucker. Officating was Pastor Robbie Robinson of the Weldon Southern Baptist Church. Mr. Rucker was born March 16, 1914 in Dover, Tennessee and passed away August 9 1995 in Mt. Mesa, California. He was a resident of Barstow for over 40 years before moving to the Kem
River Valley in 1980. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, and instrumental in starting the Little League and was the dis- trict coordinator for the Boy Scouts, he was very involved in the community activities all in Barstow. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Jessie Rucker of Onyx, his daughters Carol Rabacker of San Bernar- dino and Alta Jean Richardson of Victorville and step-daugh- ters Katherine Orton of Mt. Mesa, Linda Beacham of Meadow Valley, and Jane Hill of Ridgecrest, his brother Frank Rucker of Florida and 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.
Eugene Henry Stemper
Memorial services were held in the Rose Chapel of the Lake Isabella Funeral Home on Monday August 7, 1995, at 1:00 P.M. for Eugene H. Stemper 79. He passed away at his Kernville residence on Friday, August 2. Private inurnment was held. Eugene was born in California on July 30, 1916. He worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator and had resided in Kernville for the past fifteen years having moved here from Bullhead City, Ari- zona. He loved to travel, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Eugene is survived by his brother-in-law Albert Morgan of Rosamond and by several nieces and nephews and may friends. Funeral services were con- ducted on Monday, August 7, 1995 at 2:00 P.M. in the Valley
Mortuary Chapel for Edward G. McCrory, 74, of Wofford Heights. Mr. Ellis Mills, past master of the Kemville Masonic Lodge #827, F&AM officiated. The eulogy was given by Mr. Tom Mckinney. Mr. McCrory was bom March 12, 1921 in Ponchatoula, Louisiana and was a 19 year valley resident. He and his wife owned the El Vaquero Restaurant in Wofford Heights for 18 years. He was a member of the Kernville Lodge #827, F&AM. Mr. McCrory was also an avid bowler and a member of the Tournament Club. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 1995, for Tanya Carleen Pippenger, age 19, of Mt. Pulaski, Illinois. Marvin Flowers officiated at Holland & Barry Funeral Home, Lincoln, Illinois. Burial followed in Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart, Illinois. Visitation was held on August 16, 1995, at the funeral home.
Tanya was born on July 14, 1976 in Lincoln, Illinois, the daughter of Jerry and Jan Johnston Pippenger. She passed away at 6:28 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 1995, in Sangamon Co., Illinois.
She was a 1994 grauate of Mt. Pulaski High School and was employed by Circuit City in Springfield, Illinois. Tanya was Best Model, Best Smile winner in the American Beauty Contest in 1987. She was Miss Ameri- can Pageant Sweetheart run- ner-up only to her sister, Tiffani. She was also a member of the Outback Bungee Jumping Club.
She enjoyed sports - in and out of school - and was on many all-conference teams in various schools in California, Missouri and Illinois. She en- joyed horseback riding, swim- ming, the mountains, and the people she came in contact with. She left a good impression on all she met. Tanya loved life to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Norman Pippenger and her uncle Mark Pippenger. Tanya is survived by her father and stepmother, Jerry and Caylyn Fuhrer Pippenger of Mt. Pulaski; her

Edward Fenton Allard
Private interment will be held at a later date for Lake Isabella resident Edward F. Allard, age 72. He passed away in a Bakersfield hospital on Monday morning, August 14, 1995. Edward was born in Los An- geles on August 28, 1922. He received his education there and spent most of his adult life in the Los Angeles area.
He was a World War II vet- eran having served in the U.S. Army and in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He was retired from Ralph's Grocery Stores where he worked for many years as a truck driver.
Edward was a past com- mander of the Granada Hills Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose. He loved the out of doors and enjoyed fish- ing.
Edward was preceded in death by his wife Aliene Allard, just four months ago. He is survived by three sons Tom Allard of Seattle, Washington; Mike Nelson of Commerce, Michigan; and John Allard of Tehachapi; by two daughters Charlen Tozier of Seattle, Washington; and Jackie Vogel of Woodland Hills, California; by nine grandchildren and many friends.
Private inurnment was held at Union Cemetery in Bakers- field.

Edward M. Alsop
Funeral services for Edward M. Alsop, age 79, were held on Monday, August 21, 1995, at the 11:00 a.m. in the Valley Mortuary Chapel. Burial fol- lowed in the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Cali- fomia. Officiating was Pastor Mel Rich of the Olive Knolls Church of the Nazarene in Bakersfield and the Kem River Valley Lodge #827, F.&A.M.
A 20-year Wofford Heights resident, Mr. Alsop was born October 27, 1915 in Brooklyn, New York, and entered into rest on August 16, 1995, in a Bakersfield hospital. He entered the U.S. Army in 1934 as a private and retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1964. Mr. Alsop was a member of the Retired Officer's Association, the Ma- sonic Lodge, Elks Lodge and the Shriners.
Survivors include his wife Ethel, with whom he shared 12 really good years; a son Rich- ard Alsop of Bakersfield; a daughter Margaret Clark of San Diego; a step-daughter Diannah Close of Ontario; a step-son Charles Weiss of Hacienda Heights; eight grandchildren and a great- granddaughter Merissa. Mr. Alsop was a very giving man and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Betty Marion Larsen
Graveside funeral services were held in the Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wofford Heights on Monday, August 21, 1995, at 1:30 p.m. for Mrs. Betty Marion Larsen, age 78. She passed away in a Bakersfield hospital on Thursday morning, August 17, 1995. Betty was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on · January 25, 1917, she spent her early years and received her education there.
In 1951, she moved to Los Angeles and resided there until coming to the lake area in 1972. Betty enjoyed the out of doors and loved to fish.
She is survived by her hus- band Arden of Wofford Heights; by one son Dave McVeety of Pocatello, Idaho; one daughter Kathy Stewart of Norco, Cali- fornia; by one sister Vivian Schutte of Santa Ana, Califor- nia; by five grandchildren and by many friends.

Raymond Boice Voyles
Graveside funeral services were held in the Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wofford Heights on Thursday, August 17, 1995, at 11:30 a.m. for Mr. Raymond Boice Voyles, age 69. Reverend Robert Coy, Pastor of the Wofford Heights Assembly of God officiated. Mr. Voyles was born in Lucora, Arkansas on November 5, 1925 and passed away at his Wofford Heights residence on Tuesday morning, August 15, 1995.
He was retired from ITT Gilfillan where he was em- ployed for many years as a security guard. Mr. Voyles had resided în Wofford Heights since 1988 having moved here from Van Nuys, California.
He was predeceased by his wife Rita who passed away in 1994. Mr. Voyles is survived by one son and his wife Raymond J. and Mar.a A. Voyles of Palmdale; by two daughters Mona and her husband Myles Allen of Wofford Heights and Jennie Jones of Bodfish; by two sisters Mae Decker of Lancaster, California, and Juanita Eckstom of San Ber- nardino, California; by five grandchildren Lisa Howard, Kevin and Patrick Voyles and David and Cindy Allen; and by one great-granddaughter Meagan Howard, several nieces and nephews and by a host of friends.

Interment and graveside services were Sat- urday, August 26, 1995, at 11:00 a.m. at All Souls Cem- etery in Long Beach, Califomia.
Mrs. McVey was born in Sioux City, lowa on December 21, 1916 and passed away in Mt. Mesa, California on August
23, 1995. She has been a resident of the Kern River Val- ley for 30 years. She was an active member of the Moose, Elks, Eagles and Catholic Daughters and the Altar Soci- ety, prior to her illness she was past president of the South Fork Womans Club and past Kern District President of the SFWC.
She is survived by her son Harold McVey of Missouri; daughter Patricia Stickman of Temecula, California; daughter Mary J. Deese of Buena Park, California; daughter Sharon Lee McVey, also of Buena Park; daughter Christine Cheryl Middleton of Wofford Heights; 13 grandchildren, six step-
grandchildren; 24 great- grandchildren; 11 step-great- grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren. She was dearly loved by all.

Eleanor Harris-Sanders
Memorial services were held Saturday, September 2, 1995, at the Moose Lodge in Lake Isabella for Eleanor Harris- Sanders. She was born in Lankenshire, England on De- cember 19, 1911 and passed away in Mt. Mesa, Califomia, on August 31, 1995.
She has been a resident of Weldon and the Kern River Valley for 25 years. She was a member of the Eagles and past president of the Women of the Moose.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter Jennie Grey of Bakersfield; her grandson Che Harris of Weldon; grand- daughter Michele Vanerli of Mississippi; two great-grand- daughters Megan and Stephine Vanerli of Mississippi; also her niece Jean Galusha of Westminister and her nephew Harold Richardson of Seal Beach, California.

Gertrude Agnes Cunningham
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 31, 1995, at 10:00 a.m. at the Family Life Center in Wofford Heights for Gertrude Agnes Cunningham. Officiating was Pastor Jerry

Mrs. Cunningham was born December 7, 1923 in Los An- geles, California, and passed away August 28, 1995, in Bakersfield, California.
She has been a resident of Weldon for three years and a member of the Family Life Center and the Historical So- ciety. She and her husband - were retired pastors in the Four Square Churches in and around the country and she played the piano. At 69 years of age, she took her first river raft ride down the Kern River with her son and grandson. She will be greatly missed.

Robert Wheeland Keith
Private services and inurnment were held for Robert Keith, age 86, who entered into rest in Bakersfield at Memorial Hospital on August 25, 1995, at 3:25 in the afternoon.
Robert was born to Walter and Emily Keith on April 16, 1919, in Freeport, Illinois.
His early years and school- ing were spent in Freeport, Illi- nois. Robert came to California in 1931 at the age of 22. He worked on a farm in Paso Robles, California, as a cow- hand. After several years he moved to Ames, lowa, and . joined the Navy Sea Bee's and served his country overseas. While overseas, he earned the Victory Medal in WWII, Philip- pine Liberation, 2 stars and the Asiatic Pacific 1 star.
After World War II, he stayed in California where he owned and operated a paint store in Los Angeles. Later he worked at Don Lee's Paint Store in Tujunga, California. Then he worked at the Mullins Paint Store in North Hollywood.
He came to the lake area in July of 1995 and really enjoyed his two months in Wofford Heights. He really loved the lake area. He is survived by his daughter. Dorthy Crothers, who is moving at this time to reside in Kernville with her husband, one grandson, Jeff Crothers, of Three Rivers, California, and a granddaughter Lonnie Whitten of Tujunga, California.
The services were entrusted to the care of the Bonnewell family of the Lake Isabella Fu- neral Home.
Jack Donald Kukura
Graveside services were held Friday, September 1, 1995 at 11:00 a.m. at the Historical Kern River Valley Cemetery in · Wofford Heights, California for Jack Donald Kukura. Officiating was Pastor John Carpenter of the Kernville United Methodist Church.
Mr. Kukura was born Sep- tember 10, 1926, in Bell, Cali- fomia, and passed away August 28, 1995 in Ridgecrest, Cali- fornia. He has been a resident of Kernville for the past six years. He has been a member of the VFW Post #1732 in South Gate from 1945. Also he was an active member of the Gear Grinders Car Club #12 and the Kern River Valley Fish Hatch- ery and the Bakersfield Team- sters Retirees for 40 years and the Kern Valley Gun Club and the NRA.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Helen Kukura of Kernville; son John Kukura of West Plains, Missouri; daugh- ter Christine Kuduk of Wrightwood, California; sister Mary Klingensmith of Long Beach, California and four grandchildren.

Ingeborg Charlotte Sanders
Private services and inter- ment were held for Ingeborg Charlotte Sanders, age 59. She was born August 28, 1935 in Berlin, Germany and passed away at the local hospital on August 24, 1995.
Mrs. Sanders spent her childhood and early adult years in Germany where she met and married her husband who was a career Army man. In 1962 she moved with her family to the United States. She came to the lake area in 1980 from San Pedro and had been residing in Wofford Heights at the time of her passing.
She is survived by one daughter Barbara Sanders of Wofford Heights; one son Robert Sanders of Ridgecrest and by many friends.
