Eunice Margaret Neff
Eunice Margaret Neff was born on February 24, 1910 in a small town in Kansas where she spent her early years as a girl. Later, Eunice and her fam- ily moved to Ohio where she spent the majority of her life.
On August 25, 1934 Eunice married the love of her life, Nelson Neff. Together the two began to build a life for them- selves and began a family. Soon after, she completed her education, graduating from Ashland College with a teach- ing credential. Eunice felt a calling for this field of work and began teaching fifth grade at an elementary school in Ohio. During this time she developed a talent for the arts. Eunice became an accomplished painter, working primarily with oils. Later, some of her work began showing up in exhibits and art shows. Her love and talent for the arts was not only limited to oils and canvas, but also to the dramatic arts. As a teacher, Eunice found her niche. Soon she became the
director of all of the school's projects that concerned music and the children. She had a positive artistic influence on many of the children's lives.
In the early 70's, Eunice semi-retired and she and Nel- son moved to Barstow, Calif., later moving to Mission Viejo, Calif. Once there, Eunice was able to devote more of her time to the arts. She painted and entered shows. She also spent time playing bridge with her friends. She also was never a person to sit idle, so she also began substitute teaching at a local school.
In 1982, her beloved hus- band Nelson passed away. As this would weaken some people Eunice grew strong. She continued being very ac- tive, however, shortly after, her sight began to fail her. In 1989 she had a significant loss of sight and made the decision to move to the Kern Valley area to be near her daughter and favorite son-in-law. This did not slow Eunice down. In fact, she became even more active in her new community. She joined the Foursquare Church's Fam- ily Life Center, the Rod & Gun Club, and the Kernville Woman's Club. She continued to paint and play bridge up until she heard the calling of the Lord. In the early hours of the morning of June 26, 1998 Eunice passed away from our lives and went home to be with the Lord.
Eunice is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Joan A. and Gary Bechtel of Wof- ford Heights; her sister, Esther Zaugg, of Hiram, Ohio; and by her twin sisters, Prescilla Hildebrandt and Aquila Sterret, of Mountain Home, Ark. Eunice
is also survived by her grand- children, James Bechtel of Salem, Ore .; Kathy Taylor of Wofford Heights; Steve Bechtel of Wofford Heights; and Scott Bechtel of Holly- wood. Also surviving her are 11 great-grandchildren.

J.E. Foreman
J.E. Foreman entered life July 21, 1924 in Shawnee, Okla., and entered eternal life June 19, 1998 in Wofford Heights. Family friend Sam Wells officiated at his memo- rial service June 25. Inurnment was at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Calif.
God saw that J.E. was get- ting tired, a cure for him was not to be. So God put his arms around him, and whispered J.E. come home to me. So with tearful eyes we watched him suffer, and beheld him fade away. And although we loved J.E. dearly, we could not make him stay. On June 19, a golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands now rest. God broke our hearts to prove, he only takes the best. There is only one way into this world. That is by way of the womb of a woman. But there are two ways out. I know for a fact that my true friend, and spiritual brother chose the right way. He (J.E.) is at peace now, (Real Peace) and I feel he would have wanted you, (his family) (his friends) to know that.
J.E. was survived by two family members, his wife, Mrs. Hazel Forman and his daugh- ter, Mrs. Sharon Forman Batts.
Services arranged by the Lake Isabella Funeral Home.

Jack P. Whitton
"Our loss is heaven's gain." Our beloved husband, dad, papa, great-papa, and friend left our earth to go live in his Heavenly Father's home on June 26, 1998. Jack's journey began on October 26, 1926 in Fullerton, Calif. where he lived with his parents, Dewey and Helen Whitton, his sister, June, and brother, Eugene. At 17, Jack joined the United States Navy to help in the Second World War. He had the rank of Seaman Second Class and was stationed at Maui and the Midway Islands.
In 1951, Jack met the woman he would share all of his life experiences with, Lois. These experiences were to include their three children, five grand- children and five great-grand- children. Jack and Lois would share more than four decades of love that seemed to triumph over all of the tests life could give.
To Jack, family was the most important aspect of life. He believed that a man should come home from work each day to help teach his children and to help give them the love and support they need. He car- ried this belief on to his grand- children.

about the wonders of nature. Because of his love for the mountains, Jack chose the Kern River Valley as his home after he retired in 1982.
He was a true friend to all. His honesty, strength, and strong beliefs were admired by everyone who knew him, and his wonderful sense of humor always brought a smile to everyone's face. His presence on this earth will truly be missed.
